[Bug 1158216] Re: Notification logo appears and update-manager is unable to run

2013-03-21 Thread Isabel Ordonez
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 346386 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346386

I followed the instructions for bug #346386.
But it did not solve the problem.
I can remove the files from /var/lib/apt/lists/* , not the partial folder.
Then when I get update through the terminal, there seems to be no problem. So
far so good.

But when I run the update-manager outside of the terminal it sais that
there are 328 selected updates. Describing a change of version from 2.7.
102-0ubuntu3.4 to 2.7. 102-0ubuntu3.7.

When trying to install updates I get the following error:

"The package system is broken
Check if you are using third party repositories. If so disable them, since they
are a common source of problems.
Furthermore run the following command in a Terminal: apt-get install -f
Details: The following packages have unmet dependencies: adobereader-enu:i386: "

The apt-get install -f seems to have solved the dependency problems and now it
is installing correctly.
So... problem solved. Seemed to be related to the version update, but I am not
sure.
Hope the info helps.

[Bug 1158216] [NEW] Notification logo appears and update-manager is unable to run

2013-03-21 Thread Isabel Ordonez
Public bug reported:

The error message that popped up was:

"Could not initialize the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package
information."

The it explicitly asked me to include the following error message:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/se.archive.ubuntu
.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package
lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

More info:
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu:Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or
by checking in Software Center:
When runnign this command in a terminal I get:
"E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/se.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened."

3) What you expected to happen: I was not intending to run the update
manager, it just does regularly, but lately it has had this problem. All
other functions on the computer seem to be working without problem.

4) What happened instead: I am not sure when was the last update my
computer managed to complete... but otherwise this generates no problem
for me.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 874104] Re: nvidia-xconfig: Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors

2012-07-23 Thread Isabel Ordonez
I am using ubuntu 12.04 LTS
And I have an Nvidia graphic card, with a driver version 295.40
I have a new Dell Latitude laptop E6420, with a Intel® Core™ i7-2640M CPU @
2.80GHz × 4 processor
I have it attached to a docking station at my office with 2 Samsun monitors.
I can get them to work using the Nvidia X server settings, but everytime I turn
it on this error appears and I have to reconfigue it manually. I'm attaching a
screenshot of the error message.
Hope it helps to fix the bug!
