Thanks, Leann. I have alpha 6 running from live cd for some hours now and have not encountered any mouse trouble. Linux ubuntu 2.6.24-11-generic #1 SMP Fri Feb 29 22:08:31 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux (Just that it seems to randomly switch to the Amharic keyboard layout ኢስ አ ቢት ስትራንገ) ;) I'll keep you posted if the symptoms are really gone.
