Check time on both server. I had some kind of problem (segfault on
master when peer communication starts). I've found theese messages in
the syslog of slave.:

dhcpd: failover: disconnect: time offset too large

I`ve set up ntp on both server and dhcp cluster gets run fine.

I've been upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty just now. Gcompris was broken
after upgrade. with same error. The installing python-numeric worked for
me also. I'm think this can be fix adding the python-numeric to the
dependency list of gcompris package.

[Bug 227077] Re: nVidia ck804 IDE driver not working

2008-08-29 Thread Istvan Botka
I've a workaround.
Recompiling the actual linux-image package with enabled AMD74XX module works
for me.

Steps are used:
(I write this comment from another machine and my machine is down at this
moment. So some path or command maybe not exact)

apt-get source kernel-image-$(uname-r)
cd linux-2.6.xxx
Enable the AMD74XX as module in debian/config subdir
run debian/rules updateconfig
run debian/rules binary
waiting a litle bit (~1.5 hour)
cd ..
dpkg -i linux-image-2.6--generic

2008-05-12 Thread Istvan Botka
KuSh írta:
It seems I have overworked the problem by :
 1. installing grub and removing grub-pc
 2. reinstalling desktop-base package (a reconfigure should have worked though)
 3. installing again grub-pc and removing grub (as desktop-base doesn't need
 to be reconfigured)

 KuSh

I replaced the grub2 with grub. It works fine.

[Bug 78223] swsusp fails to resume

2007-01-06 Thread Istvan Botka
Public bug reported:

I have an amd64 machine with Edgy. There are filve disks in. One ATA
(hda) and four SATA (sda, sdb, sdc, sdd). All the four SATA disks are
composed into an RAID5 array.

The suspend part seems to be good. But the resume have problem. There is
the log from resume. I have an idea but no time for test it. So when I
makes my computer to suspend to disk the RAID array does not syncing
before power off. When the computer starting again the md detects the
raid array dirty and going to reconstructing it. AFTER the raid started
the initrd detects the suspend signature on swap device and wants to
stop tasks. It can't stop the md_resync and aborts resume and going over
normal startup.

[Bug 72616] Re: Kernel takes a 6 minutes break and go outside take a cup of coffee

2006-11-26 Thread Istvan Botka
It is similar to Bug #67299 and Bug#73312.
There is some raid array constructed from not partitions but whole disks.
The mdadm package has a component that runs at boot time from initramfs.
(/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/md)
This script scans only partitions but no whole disks as a member of any raid
array to determine what raid-level module needs to be loaded into the kernel.
When the computer boots up and the raid array constructed from whole disks it
causes a wait up to~3-5 minutes. I have attached a patch to fix this.

(You need to re-run update-initrd after apply the patch)

You're right. My fix works work in my and the two other reported case.
It is a quick and dirty fix for some special cases.
I have spent ~4-5 hours to catch this bug. (A reboot takes up to 10 minutes on
my box when patch not included) It would have been take less time if the script
would have some debug information.

[Bug 73312] slow boot

2006-11-25 Thread Istvan Botka
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mdadm

There is no check for whole disks assigned as a member of a raid array.
It caused very slow boot on my box.
My box is set up with four sata and one pata disks. The ata disk contains two
pratitons: hda1 for root filesystem and hda2 for the swap. All the four sata
disks are in one big raid5 array.
In other words md0=raid5(sda, sdb, sdc, sdd).

There is a script /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/md in the mdadm
package.
It scans only the hda1, hda2, sda1, sdb2, etc but no the hda, hdb, sda, sdb.

I had to wait 180 seconds on every boot for timeout of the scanning the
possibly raid member disks to determine which raid level module need to
load into the kernel.

ps: it is closer for Bug #67299
