Just ccedila for me (us international keyboard), I could re-enable it by
exporting this variables:

GTK_IM_MODULE=cedilla
QT_IM_MODULE=cedilla

[Bug 1503371] [NEW] fglrx-installer and fglrx-installer-updates don't work out of box [15.10]

2015-10-06 Thread Iuri Diniz
Public bug reported:

I have a hybrid graphics system with intel + radeon. Until ubuntu 15.04
the proprietary drivers work out of box, just select proprietary drivers
through /usr/bin/software-properties-gtk. But on 15.10 Beta 2 this is
not true.

I don't know how could I provide useful information in order to fill a
complete bug report, but I know how to use a terminal

System hangs sometimes in ALPS/PS2 mouse, somethimes em AT Keyboard. I
will try to compile it from git sources (using tag v3.16-rc1)

[Bug 1331654] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1525] Cannot resume from suspend

2014-06-21 Thread Iuri Diniz
I can confirm that the last version of upstream kernel [3c8fb50 (HEAD,
linus/master) Merge tag 'pm+acpi-3.16-rc2' of
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm]) fixed
the bug

I cannot boot 3.16-rc1, but linus/master branch [commit
3c8fb50445833b93f69b6b703a29aae3523cad0c] (3.16-rc2) doesn't have the
bug

Hi shacharr,

could you test packages on http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/daily/2014-06-20-utopic/ ?

These packages were built based on the
3c8fb50445833b93f69b6b703a29aae3523cad0c, which doesn't have the bug.

I'm using them and everything seems all right

Shacharr already did the reversion and the bug goes away

Also, next linux version (3.16-rc2) will fix that bug.

Do you want that I test it too? I'll use the kernel packages that he
made.

The prebuilt kernel packages (64-bit version), which (according to
shacharr) fully reverses the offending commit, worked for me too.

Hello graeme, I don't have ntpdate server running on my machine.

The only thing I've found relation is if someone is logged on Xorg
(unity), I think is relation to a process using drm features. I think
lightdm does not use any advanced feature (like OpenGL), so if only
lightdm is using Xorg, I can resume from previous suspend

[Bug 1331654] [NEW] [Dell Inspiron 1525] Cannot resume from suspend

2014-06-18 Thread Iuri Diniz
Public bug reported:

Hello folks,

After upgrading to Ubuntu Trusty (14.04), I cannot more resume from a
previous suspend. All things were all right on 13.10.

If I boot previous kernel 3.11.0-23, everything works well.

Also I've tried these kernels:

vanilla 3.13.0-rc1 (Bugged)
vanilla 3.12.22 (Working)

I also noted if I suspend from lightdm menu (on 3.13.0-rc1), I can
resume after, but If I do this after logged with my user (not root), I
am unable to resume from suspend.

I cannot perform Sysrq magic keys, I can only press the power button.

[Bug 1331654] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1525] Cannot resume from suspend

2014-06-18 Thread Iuri Diniz
I did a bisect and found the first bad commit:

18442d08786472c63a0a80c27f92b033dffc26de is the first bad commit
commit 18442d08786472c63a0a80c27f92b033dffc26de
Author: Ville Syrjälä ville.syrj...@linux.intel.com
Date: Fri Sep 13 16:00:08 2013 +0300

drm/i915: Fix port_clock and adjusted_mode.clock readout all over

Now that adjusted_mode.clock no longer contains the pixel_multiplier, we
can kill the get_clock() callback and instead do the clock readout
in get_pipe_config().

Also i9xx_crtc_clock_get() can now extract the frequency of the PCH
DPLL, so use it to populate port_clock accurately for PCH encoders.
For DP in port A the encoder is still responsible for filling in
port_clock. The FDI adjusted_mode.clock extraction is kept in place
for some extra sanity checking, but we no longer need to pretend it's
also the port_clock.

In the encoder get_config() functions fill out adjusted_mode.clock
based on port_clock and other details such as the DP M/N values,
HDMI 12bpc and SDVO pixel_multiplier. For PCH encoders we will then
do an extra sanity check to make sure the dotclock we derived from
the FDI configuratiuon matches the one we derive from port_clock.

DVO doesn't exist on PCH platforms, so it doesn't need to anything
but assign adjusted_mode.clock=port_clock. And DDI is HSW only, so
none of the changes apply there.

v2: Use hdmi_reg color format to detect 12bpc HDMI case
v3: Set adjusted_mode.clock for LVDS too
v4: Rename ironlake_crtc_clock_get to ironlake_pch_clock_get,
eliminate the useless link_freq variable.

So, it seems it's a upstream bug

Also, only occurs if someone is logged (in a fresh boot, if I suspend
from lightdm, it resumes well). Maybe something related between some
software (compiz?) and DRM layer

2014-05-01 Thread Iuri Diniz

Hello folks,

After a fresh install of Trusty (14.04) my screen goes black after some
usage (random time)

The computer is not freeze, Capslock and numlock works, also I can use
sysrq keys in order to reboot my system.

The only way to recover the display is to put my laptop to sleep
(closing the lid) and wake up it. But after that, it flicks and displays
mess on screen and nothing except terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1) is usable. I
tried to restart X without success, all things continues to flick

[Bug 1207812] Re: [Sony VGN-SR29XN_S] Iphone with iOS 7 does not work on Ubuntu

2014-01-06 Thread Iuri Diniz
Yun,
Sorry, that package is not for you! But you can compile the library and install
it by yourself.

I could rebuild that package lowering the version of libgnutls, but I
don't know if it will work for you. Also, I don't know if all problems
will be fixed with that package. I just confirmed that the current
version of libmobiledevice seems the source of the problem. That package
cannot be considered the final solution, it is just for someone could
test if the new version fixes everything, as I told before, I never used
an iPhone on linux until now. My sister asked me for some file from her
iPhone, as I was not able to get that file I reached this bugreport.
While I was reading, I saw Someone else has said that new version could
fix and another guy asked for a binary package, so i did it.

[Bug 786813] Re: Enable avahi support in samba

2012-01-10 Thread Iuri Diniz
But avahi is only default for desktop distro.

Samba (SMBD) is more suitable for file server.

I think is better disable avahi and include on samba package a avahi
service file:

?xml version=1.0 standalone='no'?
!DOCTYPE service-group SYSTEM avahi-service.dtd
service-group
   name replace-wildcards=yesSamba Shares on %h/name
   service
   type_smb._tcp/type

[Bug 777265] [NEW] dual head problems when one monitor is above other

2011-05-04 Thread Iuri Diniz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Hello, there are serious usability problems when I configure my ubuntu to use
another monitor in order to extend desktop, but the problems only ocorrs when
1) the the monitor is put over the other; and
2) user logout and login

If I login with the desktop not extended and extend it after, the
problems doesn't happen, only if I logout and login again. This time the
area is automatic extended. The default configuration (GDM Login) is set
to use only one monitor.

Some problems:
1) scale plugin put the windows on the center (screenshot-01)
2) new windows are put on wrong place (screenshot-02)
3) some applications have their window opened in a reduced size. (screenshot-03)

[Bug 608480] [NEW] libpam-gnome-keyring only uses keyrings with 'login' name

2010-07-21 Thread Iuri Diniz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libpam-gnome-keyring

Hello folks, on lucid 10.04 with the latest updates,
pam_gnome_keyring.so only unlock the keyring using the password provided
if the keyring has 'login' name

/var/log/auth.log
Jul 21 19:13:14 folha gnome-keyring-daemon[1077]: Failed to unlock login on
startup

How to reproduce:
create a new keyring using seahorse, set it as default, move some passwords to
it (wifi password per example);
[ or you can rename it via 'mv $HOME/.gnome2/keyrings/login.keyring
$HOME/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring' and alter
$HOME/.gnome2/keyrings/default]

Possible solutions:
1) pam-gnome-keyring may honor $HOME/.gnome2/keyrings/default; or
2) pam-gnome-keyring must unlock each keyrings with the provided password

We have to wait for mainstream solution, IMHO if the base component is

I can confirm that problem goes out after installing the openoffice.org-

[Bug 97322] Re: rtl8187 module has no ad-hoc support

2010-06-29 Thread Iuri Diniz
With a little investigation, I confirmed that rtl8187 (which is based on
mac80211 stack) has no support to adhoc (IBSS)[1] and r8187(which is
based on ieee80211 stack) has (according to you)

the problem is that rtl8187 is now the focus of implementation because
ieee80211 drivers are considered legacy, the ieee80211 was removed from
the mainline and so r8187 is NOT SHIPPED with ubuntu kernel. But the
STAGING module rtl8192su continues to use ieee80211 stack while is not
converted [./Sources/linux-wireless-
testing/drivers/staging/rtl8192su/ieee80211]

2 choices:
1) we could ship the r8187 driver too (packing it with ieee80211 stack) and
using jockey to select the correct driver (but jocker is for proprietary
drivers)
2) Wait for rtl8187 implementation

[Bug 280064] Re: openjdk6 remains default web start plugin even when sun is default in alternatives

2009-09-29 Thread Iuri Diniz
I have this same problem,

 link currently points to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so - priority 63
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/IcedTeaPlugin.so - priority 1061
Current `best' version is
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/IcedTeaPlugin.so.

But I can correct it by:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-plugin
sudo update-alternatives --config xulrunner-1.9-javaplugin.so
[selectin here libnpjp2.so]

If I don't do this 'update-alternatives', firefox (via about:plugins)
displays two java plugins.

Possible cause: icedtea plugin only adds one alternative
(xulrunner-1.9.javaplugin.so) while sun plugin adds many alternatives,
so I think that is the problem.

[Bug 368260] [NEW] Mute key (and other multimedia keys) has stopped working

2009-04-27 Thread Iuri Diniz
Public bug reported:

Hello folks,

I did a fresh ubuntu 9.04 install and all things were working perfect.
After a time using (I don't know when) some multimedia keys has stopped working.

my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I have multimedia keys on laptop
keyboard and on a external usb keyboard, both affected.

keys in question:

volume up - works
volume down - works
volume mute - doesn't
rewind - doesn't
forward - doesn't
stop - doesn't
play/pause - doesn't

If I create a new user (or use guest account) the keys work again, so I
suspect some configuration problem, but I didn't discovery it.

The keys are mapped correctly in System-Preferences-Keyboard
Shortcuts.

Also when I execute xev, the key is detected but nothing happens, see
the output for volume mute key:

KeyRelease event, serial 39, synthetic NO, window 0x281,
root 0xb7, subw 0x0, time 4528727, (105,62), root:(187,109),
state 0x10, keycode 121 (keysym 0x1008ff12, XF86AudioMute), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

I don't know if this bug maybe related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/281993

Thanks

[Bug 317161] Re: udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs

2009-01-26 Thread Iuri Diniz
tmpfs documentation says:
These parameters accept a suffix k, m or g for kilo, mega and giga and
can be changed on remount. The size parameter also accepts a suffix %
to limit this tmpfs instance to that percentage of your physical RAM:
the default, when neither size nor nr_blocks is specified, is size=50%

I had started to modify my patch to verify if the size on UDEV_SIZE is
too few, but since tmpfs accepts % as suffix for size parameter it will
be a very ugly verification for a very little (and maybe unnecessary)
enhancement.

I was thinking to use:
df -m /dev | egrep '/dev$' | sed 's/ */ /g' | cut -d ' ' -f 2
instead of:
df -m /dev | tail -n 1 | awk '{print $2}'

because awk and is not on /bin, but egrep and sed is

And use:
--- cut ---
case $1 in
*M)
echo MEGA;
;;
*K)
echo KILO
;;
*%)
echo PERCENT
;;
esac
--- end ---
instead of:
[[ 86M = *@(M|m) ]] echo MEGA

because dash doesn't support pattern matching like bash does.

--
In summary, this approach will be very complicated, so I think is the wrong way
to do something simple. If this enhancement is really necessary I could live
with the previous (and bugged) approach that issues a mount error. Anyway,
leave as is it.

Bug status STILLS wontfix

Thanks Scott

Re: [Bug 317161] [NEW] udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs

2009-01-15 Thread Iuri Diniz
Hello Scott,

On Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 2:03 PM, Scott James Remnant
sc...@canonical.comwrote:

Actually, I believe you're mistaking tmpfs with ramfs here. Space is
not reserved for a tmpfs, it simply sets the maximum size to which the
 tmpfs may grow.

 If a tmpfs is only using 5MB, then it will only consume 5MB of memory;
it's backed by the page cache, so there is little overhead for such
things as filesystem (in fact, there isn't one!)

I know that

/dev is not writable by ordinary users, there is no danger of users
filling this filesystem with other data.

However there it is preferred that this filesystem not become full, if
the udev daemon is unable to make device nodes, or maintain its
database, then system features such as hotplug fail to work and newly
 connected devices are not available.

I tottaly agree with you

It is for this reason that we choose not to limit the size of the
 filesystem.

I think that you misunderstood me, I'm not suggesting to limit the size, I'm
suggesting to allow people if they want, they can limit the size. Currently
on ubuntu, I can do this on /dev/shm, /var/lock, /var/run, /lib/init/rw [1],
but I can't on /dev

The default behavior of my patch is to do nothing because the default
contents of /etc/default/tmpfs on my ubuntu is to not limit size. So the
patch only add support to allow people to choose the size, the patch is not
imposing the size.

IMHO I think that allowing people to choose the max size a good thing, but,
anyway, the final decision is yours, and I will respect it.

Thank you for your feedback

[Bug 153186] Re: powernowd doesn't start with init script

2009-01-15 Thread Iuri Diniz
I'm changing it to incomplete because I want to know why only when
variable OPTIONS is equal to '-q' the use_ondemand if verified?

powernowd starts (in intrepid) if OPTIONS='' or OPTIONS='-v', but not when
OPTIONS='-q'
I think that a better method is to do somenthing like set a new var
PREFER_ONDEMAND_IF_SUPPORTED='true' (var name is too long, don't use it) and
verify it.

the manpage of powernowd says:
-q Quiet mode, only emergency output.

on init.d of intrepid:
use_ondemand() {
if [ $OPTIONS != -q ]; then
return 1
fi
status=1 # return error, if no cpu dirs are found
for x in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[0-9]*/; do
if [ ! -d $x ] || [ ! -f $xcpufreq/scaling_governor ]; then
continue
fi
echo -n ondemand $xcpufreq/scaling_governor
status=$?
if [ $status != 0 ]; then
return $status

# The default behaviour of powernowd is to ignore nice load:
if [ -f $xcpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load ]; then

kernel from array.org (for eee pc), everything else is from ubuntu
(intrepid)

[Bug 317161] [NEW] udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs

2009-01-14 Thread Iuri Diniz
Public bug reported:

I'm tunning ubuntu to a low memory device without swap (eee pc 701), I'm
currently managing the max size of tmps partitions by setting size on
/etc/default/tmpfs, but udev doens't use that settings, so I've made a
patch to correct it.

the default behavior to udev init script (kernel behavior) is to set
tmpfs partition to half size of system ram that I think is too much, 8
MB would be sufficient

using this patch, udev size will use UDEV_SIZE option if setted on
/etc/default/tmpfs, if not setted it will use TMPFS_SIZE option if
setted, and if not setted too, the default behavior is assumed

this is my first patch, I don' t if I made it correctly following the
guidelines

** Affects: udev (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 30457] Re: Fn-F3 Battery function key doesn't work on Dell Latitude 110L

2009-01-11 Thread Iuri Diniz
With the last updates of 8.10 everything seems to work as expected

Latitude 110L

Fn+ESC - suspend to ram
Fn+F1 - suspend to disk
Fn+F2 - rfkill works but with no visual feedback on gnome
Fn+F3 -Battery info
Fn+F8 - CRT/LCD (not tested)
Fn+F10 - Eject
Fn+Up Arrow - Brightness up
Fn+Down Arrow - Brightness down
Fn+Pg Up - Volume Up
Fn+Pg Dn - Volume Down
Fn+End - Mute

So this bug is invalid now.

[Bug 30457] Re: Fn-F3 Battery function key doesn't work on Dell Latitude 110L

2008-12-14 Thread Iuri Diniz
I think I found the problem, but I don't know where I can fix it.

Follow:

On my DELL latitude 110L, Fn+F3 (battery) doesn't work on 8.10, used to
work on 8.04.

When a simulate the keycode 236, discovered by:
 grep BATTERY /usr/share/acpi-support/key-constants
 KEY_BATTERY=236
using:
 sudo acpi_fakekey 236
nothing happens too.

but if I go to a console (tty: ctrl+alt+f1) and issue the same command
(or press fn+f3), when I go back to X, the battery report is showed.

Maybe X is blocking gnome-battery to catch the command?

xev reports keycode 244 when I press it:

KeyPress event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x101,
root 0x7a, subw 0x102, time 21856063, (51,52), root:(891,636),
state 0x0, keycode 244 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

lshal -m shows nothing.

[Bug 306538] Re: Evolution crashs after enable/disabling filters

2008-12-09 Thread Iuri Diniz
Thanks Pedro

I want to see if someone can reproduce this bug, because a POSSIBLE
patch in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=552583 was commited.
That patch fix a lot of things

I don't know about free time of ubuntu maintainers, but I will
appreciate if someone backport this patch, because it is marked to
2.24.3, but 2.24.3 will be released only in January.

I can wait, but maybe that patch important for someone.

[Bug 249373] Re: gnome session does not restore the previous session

2008-11-04 Thread Iuri Diniz
Is this regression already in:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IntrepidReleaseNotes ? I think that People must
be warned about this.

And I agree with ubuntu guys, If someone wants to complain, do not do it
here, neither on gnome tracker, comments like 'me too' is completely
useless, just put your name on CC and wait for someone to work on it or
do it by yourself (use the force). I'm one of guys that used to use this
feature, I don't have time to resolve it, so I will wait, but I agree
that this issue must be warned, I was not warned about it.

[Bug 285419] Re: Evolution search folder displays no messages but displays correct message count

2008-10-28 Thread Iuri Diniz
seems the same bug but In my case the search folder was created for a
IMAP folder (see screenshot) with others rules

Note: I've selected 'if all criteria are met' because I know that the
search folder will match no messages.

If I recreate the 'search folder' the new message count will be correct,
but after a time of using the new message count would break, there's no
need to restart evolution.
