[Bug 1331654] [NEW] [Dell Inspiron 1525] Cannot resume from suspend
Public bug reported: Hello folks, After upgrading to Ubuntu Trusty (14.04), I cannot more resume from a previous suspend. All things were all right on 13.10. If I boot previous kernel 3.11.0-23, everything works well. Also I've tried these kernels: vanilla 3.13.0-rc1 (Bugged) vanilla 3.12.22 (Working) I also noted if I suspend from lightdm menu (on 3.13.0-rc1), I can resume after, but If I do this after logged with my user (not root), I am unable to resume from suspend. I cannot perform Sysrq magic keys, I can only press the power button. [Bug 1331654] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1525] Cannot resume from suspend
I did a bisect and found the first bad commit: 18442d08786472c63a0a80c27f92b033dffc26de is the first bad commit commit 18442d08786472c63a0a80c27f92b033dffc26de Author: Ville Syrjälä ville.syrj...@linux.intel.com Date: Fri Sep 13 16:00:08 2013 +0300 drm/i915: Fix port_clock and adjusted_mode.clock readout all over Now that adjusted_mode.clock no longer contains the pixel_multiplier, we can kill the get_clock() callback and instead do the clock readout in get_pipe_config(). Also i9xx_crtc_clock_get() can now extract the frequency of the PCH DPLL, so use it to populate port_clock accurately for PCH encoders. For DP in port A the encoder is still responsible for filling in port_clock. The FDI adjusted_mode.clock extraction is kept in place for some extra sanity checking, but we no longer need to pretend it's also the port_clock. In the encoder get_config() functions fill out adjusted_mode.clock based on port_clock and other details such as the DP M/N values, HDMI 12bpc and SDVO pixel_multiplier. For PCH encoders we will then do an extra sanity check to make sure the dotclock we derived from the FDI configuratiuon matches the one we derive from port_clock. DVO doesn't exist on PCH platforms, so it doesn't need to anything but assign adjusted_mode.clock=port_clock. And DDI is HSW only, so none of the changes apply there. v2: Use hdmi_reg color format to detect 12bpc HDMI case v3: Set adjusted_mode.clock for LVDS too v4: Rename ironlake_crtc_clock_get to ironlake_pch_clock_get, eliminate the useless link_freq variable. Yun, Sorry, that package is not for you! But you can compile the library and install it by yourself. I could rebuild that package lowering the version of libgnutls, but I don't know if it will work for you. Also, I don't know if all problems will be fixed with that package. I just confirmed that the current version of libmobiledevice seems the source of the problem. I think is better disable avahi and include on samba package a avahi service file: ?xml version=1.0 standalone='no'? !DOCTYPE service-group SYSTEM avahi-service.dtd service-group name replace-wildcards=yesSamba Shares on %h/name service type_smb._tcp/type port139/port /service /service-group -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786813 Title: Enable avahi support in samba To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/786813/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 317161] Re: udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs
tmpfs documentation says: These parameters accept a suffix k, m or g for kilo, mega and giga and can be changed on remount. The size parameter also accepts a suffix % to limit this tmpfs instance to that percentage of your physical RAM: the default, when neither size nor nr_blocks is specified, is size=50% I had started to modify my patch to verify if the size on UDEV_SIZE is too few, but since tmpfs accepts % as suffix for size parameter it will be a very ugly verification for a very little (and maybe unnecessary) enhancement. I was thinking to use: df -m /dev | egrep '/dev$' | sed 's/ */ /g' | cut -d ' ' -f 2 instead of: df -m /dev | tail -n 1 | awk '{print $2}' because awk and is not on /bin, but egrep and sed is And use: --- cut --- case $1 in *M) echo MEGA; ;; *K) echo KILO ;; *%) echo PERCENT ;; esac --- end --- instead of: [[ 86M = *@(M|m) ]] echo MEGA because dash doesn't support pattern matching like bash does. -- In summary, this approach will be very complicated, so I think is the wrong way to do something simple. Re: [Bug 317161] [NEW] udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs
Hello Scott, On Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 2:03 PM, Scott James Remnant sc...@canonical.comwrote: Actually, I believe you're mistaking tmpfs with ramfs here. Space is not reserved for a tmpfs, it simply sets the maximum size to which the tmpfs may grow. If a tmpfs is only using 5MB, then it will only consume 5MB of memory; it's backed by the page cache, so there is little overhead for such things as filesystem (in fact, there isn't one!) I know that /dev is not writable by ordinary users, there is no danger of users filling this filesystem with other data. However there it is preferred that this filesystem not become full, if the udev daemon is unable to make device nodes, or maintain its database, then system features such as hotplug fail to work and newly connected devices are not available. I tottaly agree with you It is for this reason that we choose not to limit the size of the filesystem. I think that you misunderstood me, I'm not suggesting to limit the size, I'm suggesting to allow people if they want, they can limit the size. Currently on ubuntu, I can do this on /dev/shm, /var/lock, /var/run, /lib/init/rw [1], but I can't on /dev The default behavior of my patch is to do nothing because the default contents of /etc/default/tmpfs on my ubuntu is to not limit size. So the patch only add support to allow people to choose the size, the patch is not imposing the size. IMHO I think that allowing people to choose the max size a good thing, but, anyway, the final decision is yours, and I will respect it. Thank you for your feedback [1] see the contents of /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh, /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh, /etc/init.d/mtab.sh -- Iuri Diniz http://iuridiniz.com [Sou um agitador, não um advogado] http://blog.igdium.com [Linux on Limbo] -- udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317161 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 153186] Re: powernowd doesn't start with init script
I'm changing it to incomplete because I want to know why only when variable OPTIONS is equal to '-q' the use_ondemand if verified? powernowd starts (in intrepid) if OPTIONS='' or OPTIONS='-v', but not when OPTIONS='-q' I think that a better method is to do somenthing like set a new var PREFER_ONDEMAND_IF_SUPPORTED='true' (var name is too long, don't use it) and verify it. the manpage of powernowd says: -q Quiet mode, only emergency output. on init.d of intrepid: use_ondemand() { if [ $OPTIONS != -q ]; then return 1 fi status=1 # return error, if no cpu dirs are found for x in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[0-9]*/; do if [ ! -d $x ] || [ ! -f $xcpufreq/scaling_governor ]; then continue fi echo -n ondemand $xcpufreq/scaling_governor status=$? if [ $status != 0 ]; then return $status fi # The default behaviour of powernowd is to ignore nice load: if [ -f $xcpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load ]; then echo -n 1 $xcpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load fi done return $status } ** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Incomplete -- powernowd doesn't start with init script https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I'm tunning ubuntu to a low memory device without swap (eee pc 701), I'm currently managing the max size of tmps partitions by setting size on /etc/default/tmpfs, but udev doens't use that settings, so I've made a patch to correct it. the default behavior to udev init script (kernel behavior) is to set tmpfs partition to half size of system ram that I think is too much, 8 MB would be sufficient using this patch, udev size will use UDEV_SIZE option if setted on /etc/default/tmpfs, if not setted it will use TMPFS_SIZE option if setted, and if not setted too, the default behavior is assumed this is my first patch, I don' t if I made it correctly following the guidelines ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- udev init script should use partition size from /etc/default/tmpfs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317161 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
