[Bug 825349] [NEW] ufw rules not available

2011-08-12 Thread Jérémy Subtil
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu Natty, the NginX profiles are not displayed while running `ufw
app list`.

This is certainly due to the profile path, which is
`/etc/ufw/applications.d/nginx/ufw.profile` instead of
`/etc/ufw/applications.d/nginx`.

[Bug 667795] Re: rpy python module does not support the R shipped version (2.11.1)

2010-11-12 Thread Jérémy Subtil
Hi,

I uploaded in my PPA the python-rpy 1.0.3-15 Debian package:
ppa:bigmadwolf/misc

A friend of mine tried this package and reported it was working fine.

Note that this is only a workaround, a so easy bug to fix thanks to a
Debian sync *MUST* be fixed in Ubuntu Maverick, it shouldn't be needed
to wait for Ubuntu Natty.

[Bug 667795] [NEW] rpy python module does not support the R shipped version (2.11.1)

2010-10-28 Thread Jérémy Subtil
Public bug reported:

In the Python interpreter, we get the following trace by importing the
rpy module:

 import rpy
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File stdin, line 1, in module
  File /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/rpy.py, line 134, in module
 % RVERSION)
RuntimeError: No module named _rpy2111

  RPy module can not be imported. Please check if your rpy
  installation supports R 2.11.1. If you have multiple R versions
  installed, you may need to set RHOME before importing rpy. For
  example:

   from rpy_options import set_options
   set_options(RHOME='c:/progra~1/r/rw2011/')
   from rpy import *

Indeed, the rpy package is built for R 2.11.0, and not R 2.11.1 that is shipped
with Ubuntu Maverick.

$ dpkg -L python-rpy | grep -e _rpy.*\.so
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/_rpy2110.so

[Bug 368679] Re: wifi module rtl8180 freezes the system

2009-12-30 Thread Jérémy Subtil
This issue is present since Ubuntu Jaunty. To fix it, we do need to
report it upstream as it sounds lik the other GNU/Linux distributions
are affected as well.

Until there is no fix released for this bug, rtl8180 kernel module
should be blacklisted in Lucid. It is inconceivable to let computers
with such hardware freezing at boot with any error message and any log.
IMHO the worst thing is that this is impossible to run the Ubuntu Live
CD at all, so it gives a very bad impression for the first time Linux
user.

[Bug 152527] Re: rtl8185 freezes on connect to network

2009-08-24 Thread Jérémy Subtil
I opened a new bug report #368679 about system freezes at startup
related to module rtl8180. Indeed the initial description of the current
bug is about freeze while connecting, not while loading the module. It
is finally an old Gutsy bug so I'm setting it as incomplete until
someone suffers from the same issue or close it.

So Dan Mazzei, CDMGT, jhansonxi, you should move to bug #368679.

[Bug 368679] Re: wifi module rtl8180 freezes the system

2009-08-22 Thread Jérémy Subtil
I've been able to load rtl8180 module whithout freeze in Intrepid by
compiling the official source code v1030 provided by Realtek
(http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1PNid=24PFid=1Level=6Conn=5DownTypeID=3GetDown=falseDownloads=true#352).

My wifi card MSI PC54G3 III can now connect to my WPA network using wpa-
supplicant, but it can't get any IP adress by DHCP using dhclient. I
haven't tried to set a custom IP adress yet.

[Bug 258803] Re: Current version is obsolete

2009-02-14 Thread Jérémy Subtil
Finally, I think backports are more appropriated to such a situation. Indeed
this bug is not enough critical to ask for a SRU process
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates), because:
- only some cases of network games seem to be affected (network game on
internet servers or LAN with older versions);
- there doesn't appear to be any safe patch available.

Backports should be a quicker and easier process, in the way that we
won't need to build a safe patch from the newer version, and we will
only have to re-package the Jaunty package according to the
Hardy/Intrepid context.

According to the backport process
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports#Backport Process),
I'm adding this bug to hardy-backports because nothing seems to have
been done yet.

Also, there is 0.6.3 version in Jaunty, maybe the network game of the
0.6.2 version in Intrepid is broken as well… This has to be confirmed.

[Bug 196285] Re: [Regression] Realtek RTL-8185 Wifi not recognized in Hardy 8.04 Alpha 5

2008-12-23 Thread Jérémy Subtil
Installing linux-backports-modules on Hardy avoids me to start my
computer: the booting process is fine, but X doesn't start and doesn't
even show any error message (there's only an endless trailing '_' on the

Maybe this issue is not due to RTL-8185 but to another piece of
hardware…

Anyway, I wanted to upgrade to Interpid. I only gave a try to linux-
backports-modules to give some feedback. Sorry for not helping much.

[Bug 152527] Re: rtl8185 freezes on connect to network

2008-12-23 Thread Jérémy Subtil
I can confirm this bug on Intrepid (Linux 2.6.27). I get exactly the
same behaviour as Dan Mazzei.

My workaround is to use the Windows XP drivers with ndiswrapper.

In addition, there is a how-to on Ubuntu Forums, which would let me think that
the issue could be due to either wpasupplicant or the ieee80211 stack or both:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=772006
Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to go further on this track and see
if things are actually related, the only thing I can do is testing when I'm
close enough to the affected computer.

Indeed, on my clean install of hardy it works fine if I'm using the
gutsy kernel (2.6.22), otherwise it doesn't.

We should try using the intrepid kernel, maybe it has been fixed (I
haven't had a look at the changelogs though).

[Bug 238555] [NEW] pm-utils doesn't reload hdparm.conf after a suspend

2008-06-09 Thread Jérémy Subtil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pm-utils

For instance, I put the following lines in my /etc/hdparm.conf:
/dev/sda {
apm = 254
}

After the boot, I can see that the given parameter apm has been correctly set
using sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda.
However, after a suspend, it is always switched back to the value 128, as if I
didn't set anything in /etc/hdparm.conf.

To suspend to RAM, I'm using the following command: sudo pm-suspend
--quirk-vbe-post

[Bug 238031] Re: wpasupplicant associates only in precise conditions

2008-06-08 Thread Jérémy Subtil
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 207446 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207446

You're right, this is a duplicate of the mentioned bug, sorry for the
noise. So what about reassigning bug #207446 to the kernel as well?

I tried to associate with the gutsy kernel as a workaround and now it
works.

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 207446
   [ndiswrapper] [wg511] fails to associate

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: wpasupplicant
-
  This is a very weird bug. I'm using Ubuntu Hardy with a NETGEAR WG311v2
  wifi card (Ndiswrapper driver). I try to connect to the AP through the
  command line because I wasn't able to make it work with network-manager,
  wicd or the GNOME network tool: connection was endless or timed-out.

  With kernel 2.6.24-16, my wifi card only associates with the AP by the
  command line sudo wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
  -d, but it doesn't with sudo wpa_supplicant -iwlan0
  -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf or sudo wpa_supplicant -iwlan0
  -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -dd.

  With kernel 2.6.24-18, it doesn't associates at all.

  Thus, I'm suspecting wpasupplicant to connect to my AP too quickly (or
  slowly) when it fails, because association works only with a precise
  kernel version and a precise debugging level.

  I'm using the same wpa_supplicant.conf template as provided in
  /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/examples/wpa-psk-tkip.conf.

  Is this bug really related to wpasupplicant? Or is it ndiswrapper's
  kernel module? Is there a way to introduce a waiting time during the
  association process?

[Bug 134238] Re: Please re-enable build of s2ram binary

2007-11-27 Thread Jérémy Subtil
To make things definitely clear I sent a mail to the developer which had
removed the build of s2ram from the package uswsusp, asking him a kind
of justification.

Matthew Garrett answered:
We use pm-utils in 8.04, and if things work with s2ram and not that then it's a
bug that should be filed rather than something that should be worked around
using a package that isn't installed by default. Keeping s2ram in the archive
just confuses the issue horribly.

So I tried pm-utils, and it works perfectly for me. Please give up the
Debian/Feisty package and try pm-suspend in the new package.
