[Bug 757611] Re: [Dell Optiplex 360] GDM does not display icons or panels on desktop

2011-04-20 Thread Jörgen Lidholm
I've now tried the nouveau driver and it works. That is, I can see the launcher
bar and the top bar.
However the launcher bar doesn't hide correctly, but could be unrelated to this
bug.

[Bug 757611] Re: [Dell Optiplex 360] GDM does not display icons or panels on desktop

2011-04-19 Thread Jörgen Lidholm
I have the same problem on a Dell Precision M65 with nVidia Corporation G72GL
[Quadro FX 350M] (rev a1) graphics card.
I've had this problem since Beta 1 and still after the upgrade to Beta 2 with
nvidia-current-270.41.03.

How can I help triage this problem?

Both Unity and Gnome Classic fails.
However, Unity-2D and Gnome Classic (no effects) works.
So I guess it is compiz related somehow.

Haven't tried nouveau yet.

[Bug 477169] Re: Wubi/Karmic boot: kernel panic - not synching: VFS

2009-12-06 Thread Jörgen Lidholm
I'm also experiencing this bug, and I managed to narrow the
problem down to the initrd image being the problem.
I can boot the new kernel 2.6.32-16-generic-pae using
the initrd from 2.6.32-14-generic-pae (with expected warnings).

I tried creating a new initrd image with the same result (kernel panic) as with
the initrd from the repos (initrd.img-2.6.31-16-generic-pae)

So I think this bug is related to genrating the initrd image.

Are people actually reading this whole thread, or just coming here to
complain? It's broke! Help me! Seriously, people. The underlying
problem behind these issues is with GRUB2. We've already discussed this
at length. A workaround solution has been described in detail at least
TWICE. If you know how to read and follow directions, you can create a
separate /boot filesystem and recover your system. This is the last
time I really feel like stating this. Go back and read this whole bug
 report and stop being lazy.

So how come it works with some kernels?
I agree that you have a temporary solution to the problem,
that in my opinion is not a proper solution and I think many of you agree!

I'm not certain that the problem lies in grub2, rather something related to
the initrd generation process.

[Bug 140933] X-server dies when closing a running program in gnat-gps.

2007-09-19 Thread Jörgen Lidholm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnat-gps

In gnat-gps it is possible to run programs you've compiled. Stopping this
program by closing it's terminal
crashes the X-server. The same problem occurs when interrupting a process while
debugging inside gnat-gps.
This is reproduceable.

** Affects: gnat-gps (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

I also have this problem on a dell precision M65.
Hard to give debug information since I can't run programs after resume.

[Bug 129007] Re: MASTER firefox-bin crashed with crux theme [EMAIL PROTECTED] at #10

2007-09-04 Thread Jörgen Lidholm
I've now tested with several different themes and the following causes firefox
when the download dialog opens:
Gray
Neutrino
Redmond
ThinIce

And to clarify, it is enough to change the controls. Buttons and frame
has nothing to do with this bug.

regards,
Jörgen
