[Bug 301794] Re: D-Link DNS323 NAS / Ubuntu 8.10 cannot connect windows share
I have a DNS-323 which worked most (but not all) of the time with Hardy, but quit working in 10.04. adding client lanman auth = yes to the [global] section of smb.conf seems to have resolved the problem as long as I use the IP address of the DNS (I've done a few other things, configuring the DNS to the same user name as my 10.04 system, changing the domain name (workgroup in winspeak) in smb.conf and in the DNS-323 configuration to match in case, but don't know if they matter). HOWEVER: my LAN has never worked except when the router is configured as the DHCP server, so I never know the IP address of the DNS-323. Is there an easy way to find out? 192.168.0.102 works. RAID1-FDFA2B does not. -- D-Link DNS323 NAS / Ubuntu 8.10 cannot connect windows share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301794 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 216118] Re: Login screen is corrupted, impossible to run LiveCD Ubuntu 8.04 Beta AMD64
None of the nvidia drivers have ever worked with my AMD 64 system now running 8.04, 2.6.24-27, Gnome 2.22.3 and this controller (C51PV (GeForce 6150) rev a2). No matter what driver is installed by 'synaptic package manager', when I try to enable an nvidia driver in 'hardware drivers', it always reinstalls nvidia-glx-new (currently 169.12+2.6.24.18-27.5), which is not usable and causes X to revert to a generic 800 x 600 screen, throughly messed up (the login and password windows are somewhere SE of the bottom corner of my screen). True, except that Totem might be smarter to say in effect I can't find an audio outlet for the sound, but you can watch the video anyway if you want Sebastien Bacher wrote: the bug is not a totem one ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid Target: ubuntu-8.04 = None ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu Hardy) Status: Confirmed = Invalid Target: ubuntu-8.04 = None -- Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have tried the ALSA suggestion and the pulseaudio suggetion in sound setting and it does not work. Check your grub menu and see if by default you're now loading a server instead of a desktop kernel. [Bug 191027] Re: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument
I associated my audio problems with Totem, because that's where they first appeared, after an update. However, I have no sound at all when I boot using the current defaults. In Sound Preferences Panel, testing sound playback for Sound Events and for Music and Movies fails no matter what option is selected: Autodetect: audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument ALSA: audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback. ESD: no result---testing pipeline keeps testing indefinitely, unresponsive to OK, Window will not close, had to force quit. OSS: audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback. PulseAudio Sound Server: audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument The reason? Someone (not me, I presume as part of a recent update) has changed my system so that it boots kernel 2.6.24.19-server. When I boot with 2.6.24.19-generic all the problems disappear, except that volume control refuses to control volume--- I can mute, but not adjust---it's all or nothing. -- Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

My attempt to upgrade hung at samba-common. After restarting the system boots, accepts user-name and password, but once desktop is up, keyboard is no longer decoded properly (some keys send nothing, others gibberish). Mouse still works. This problem is critical in my opinion. If an upgrade can completely disable an end-users desktop, the OS is not ready for everyday users.
