[Bug 846736] [NEW] no Tap and Drag gesture

2011-09-10 Thread JM Barbier
Public bug reported:

The tap and drag gesture on my eeepc 1011 is nearly impossible, under
Gnome or Unity desktop : the delay for tap and drag is really too small,
and the mouse settings from system properties does not change anything
(the drag and drop speed setting does not change anything... This is
maybe a duplicate from #774113, but i don't know if it is the same
hardware

[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks

2010-06-17 Thread JM Barbier
Just installed the backport "linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-
generic" and rebooted my EeePC 1000HE with different router
configurations (WPA-PSK [TKIP] / WPA2-PSK [AES] / WPA-PSK [TKIP] +
WPA2-PSK [AES]) , and none works now (WPA-PSK [TKIP] worked well
before). I have the same traces as #227 (wlan0: directprobe to
00:1a:xx:xx:xx:xx (try 1) ... (try 2) ... (try 3) and finally timed
out), and the three modes worked well with rsalveti 2.6.32-21 kernel...

My card :
$ lspci -vnn | grep RaLink
01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: RaLink RT2860 [1814:0781]
 Subsystem: RaLink Device [1814:2790]

module rt2860sta is version 2.1.0.0

There is no /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat file (no manual
installation...)

so the problem is now worse : no wireless at all... with previouse
kernel, WPA-PSK[TKIP] worked...

going back to rsalveti 2.6.32-21 kernel and everything is OK, even WPA-
PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]

so i think the problem is not fixed...

Same problem here with a Toshiba laptop (Satellite A210-1BH). The above
workaround works fine for me.

[Bug 181374] Re: toshset required kernel toshiba support not enabled.

2008-06-11 Thread JM Barbier
On my Kubuntu Satellite A210-BH, the Fn+F6 or Fn+F7 keys for brightness
shows the brightness level, and i can change the value, but nothing is
really done on brightness (brightness stays at maximum level). But
brightness setting is possible, using directly
/proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness ...

[Bug 211610] Re: [fglrx] fglrx freezes randomly : Soft lockup

2008-05-04 Thread JM Barbier
New restricted modules (2.6.24-17-generic) does not change anything to this
bug...
I also tried to force agp 4x in xorg.conf : Option "AGPv3Mask" "0x0002".
This seems to give a little more stability, but the same freezes are still here

[Bug 211610] [NEW] [fglrx] fglrx freezes randomly

reboot using Ctrl+Alt+SysRq+B. The problem seems to come from fglrx :

[Bug 211591] [NEW] [hardy] kerry does not include binaries and libraries

2008-04-03 Thread JM Barbier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kerry

In Hardy, kerry (1:0.2.1-0ubuntu4) does not include any binary file (no
/usr/bin, no /usr/lib), just translation and manpages... It seems to be
the same as #76773 which seemed to be solved.. (i did not know if i had
to reopen the old one or throw a new bug report... sorry if i did it the
wrong way :-)

Thank you

JMB

[Bug 118605] Re: [fglrx] freezes upon Logout or Switch user

2008-03-31 Thread JM Barbier
I have the same problem as the original reporter on a default Kubuntu 8.04
Beta, i386
the computer is a Toshiba A210-1BH with a Mobility Radeon HD 2400
i'm using all the current packages in hardy, and using fglrx from ubuntu repo.

on logoff, or even on Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, the system freezes. Up to this
morning, i could use the SysRQ keys, but today (after some package
updates), the freeze is total, caps lock blinking and strange squares
blinking on the screen.

using ati opensource driver closes the problem... but that's not a
solution :-)

i tested the above atieventsd.sh patch, but it was not a solution for
this problem

Syslog does not give anything special : this is the log from my last
session (had to reboot using power button).

[Bug 58981] Re: After loading X on terminal keboard hangs

2007-06-28 Thread JM Barbier
I confirm this bug... i had some headaches on it a year ago... seems to be
something like a race condition between X and console ??? I solved it by :
- adding a sleep 5 before X launch in /usr/lib/ltsp/screen.d/startx (at the end
of the file), so the console login prompt can appear before X starts...
- removing vt${TTY} from this command

I managed to get this a bit blindly, without understanding really what
is the meaning of these corrections.. but it works (tm)...

 from screen.d/startx :
else
sleep 10
${XBINARY} ${ACC_CTRL} \
  ${XF_ARGS} \
  -xf86config ${XFCFG} \
  ${DISP}
if [ $? -ne 0 ]; then
  echo -n -e "\n\rxserver failed, press to continue "
  read CMD
