[Bug 1208972] Re: [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] Headphones work, Speakers don't
I just re-installed a clean Xubuntu 12.04 LTS and can confirm that both "Speakers" and "Headphones" outputs work out of the box. It isn't able to automatically switch between Speakers and Headphones, but switching manually from Xubuntu's Volume Control app works. Apparently something has gone wrong between 12.04 and 13.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208972 Title: [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] Headphones work, Speakers don't To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1208972/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1208972] [NEW] [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] Headphones work, Speakers don't
Public bug reported: To begin with, sound worked nicely (through Speakers) with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The laptop is an aging Fujitsu P7210. With (X)ubuntu 13.04 I can only get sound through headphones. Speakers don't give any sound, even though selected as output from the "Volume Control" application. The automatic selection of output based on headphone jack does work (plug headphone -> Headphone is automatically selected in Volume Control app). Alsamixer command line application shows separate controls for Headphone and Speaker, where the Speaker is the only one which has a volume bar. Strangely the volume of the headphones can be controller in alsamixer from the "Line" volume. Muting/unmuting Speaker from alsamixer has no effect, nor does using it's volume slider. I have tried to select intel hda audio model (auto, basic, fujitsu) in alsa module configuration (/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf), but that doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Seems like I've lost my GPG key so no PPA packages for a while then... Anyways the fix to this bug is libmtp 0.3.3 + mtpfs 0.9. I just built the newest versions of libmtp (0.3.3) and mtpfs (0.9). So far every transfer I've tried via Nautilus has succeeded :) So the fix to this bug seems to be getting the newest upstream versions of libmtp & mtpfs. [Bug 181977] Re: Mutiple file transfers appear to cause libmtp to hang
By the way has anyone tried this using the newest version (0.9) of mtpfs? I'll also try to build it from source and try if the bug gets fixed that way. Then the solution would be simple enough: update mtpfs from upstream. I'll also try what Gordon did (deleting files via bash) and see if I get the same problem with the current package version (and also 0.9). In case someone just needs a nice way to use their Zen player and doesn't care about the mounting aspect, you can use gnomad2 which seems to work very nicely with my Zen 8GB. Personally I still prefer to actually mount the player since that makes it possible to use it in a "headless" or automated environment. -- Mutiple file transfers appear to cause libmtp to hang https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181977 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 181977] Re: Mutiple file transfers appear to cause libmtp to hang
Hi! Just would like to mention I was able to reproduce this bug in Hardy. Here are the steps: 1. Install mtpfs from the official Hardy repositories $ sudo apt-get install mtpfs 2. Create mount point $ mkdir /home/jaakko/mtpfs 3. Plug in my player via USB cable (Zen 8GB) 4. Mount the player $ mtpfs /home/jaakko/mtpfs 5. Open nautilus to the mtpfs directory (which can be seen as a real mounted filesystem in the left of the nautilus window!) 6. Browse to the /home/jaakko/mtpfs/Music directory with nautilus 7. Drag and drop a directory with about 10 songs and/or about 100megabytes to the Music directory 8. Watch as the copy fails after ~5 songs / ~70 megabytes have been copied Nautilus pops out this error message: Error while copying "xxx.mp3". There was an error copying the file into /home/jaakko/mtpfs/Music/XXX. (details: Error writing to file: Operation not permitted) 9. Refresh the Music directory using F5 to see if something has been copied Now nautilus gives you this error: Couldn't display "/home/jaakko/mtpfs/Music". Error: Error stating file '/home/jaakko/mtpfs/Music': Transport endpoint is not connected Please select another viewer and try again. 9. Get pissed off, do "fusermount -u /home/jaakko/mtpfs", unplug the player and start from step 3. again NOTE: The songs that seem to be copied before the error in the File transfer operation actually are copied. -- Mutiple file transfers appear to cause libmtp to hang https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181977 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 232341] Re: seq24 sequencer does not loop or send events
The problem you were seeing could just be a problem with ZynAddSubFX which doesn't really work that well with jack. It's jack connection pretty often get's "zombified" and it just doesn't produce any sound anymore. Of course in that case triggering notes using Zyn's own virtual keyboard also fails (no sound). Also using Zyn' with jack's "Frames/Period" setting below 1024 usually results in broken sound. For those reasons I pretty much gave up on ZynAddSubFX myself. [Bug 181977] Re: Mutiple file transfers appear to cause libmtp to hang
Hi! I'm experiencing the same problem in Gutsy using mtpfs & Nautilus to copy files to my Creative Zen 8GB player (fw 1.21.01). The version of mtpfs (0.8svn) I have is installed from the http://ubuntu.jbbr.net repository. I've noticed that through nautilus I can only do a single batch copy (one or more files in one "drag'n'drop"). If I try to copy files after the first copy mtpfs breaks and cannot be used again before unmounting & re-mounting the player. The problem doesn't exist when only using command line (cp) to copy the files to the mtpfs mount. Using cp I can copy any amount of files and cleanly unmount the player. This is why it looks like the problem is in Nautilus and not in mtpfs. This is a problem with the jack "driver" in zynaddsubfx. It also seems to loose jack connection on the first occuring xrun and after that also jack (in addition to zyn) has to be restarted before getting any sound from zynaddsubfx again. This is a known problem in zynaddsubfx but there are no real fixes for it. One patch ("jack zombification patch") exists which prevents zynaddsubfx from disconnecting from jack but some people say the results more clicks than it removes problems. For me the patch seemed to work ok. One "fix" for the problem is to use very large "Frames/Periods" settings for Jack. When setting it to 1024 the problems seem to go away. [Bug 184568] Re: [needs-packaging] lash_wrap
** Description changed: It's a small program which can be used to "smuggle" non LASH apps into a LASH session provided they meet some requirements: - If they are jack clients, there must be a way of determining the jack client name at startup time - If they are ALSA seq clients the client ID must be known at client startup time or their alsa seq name must be uniquely determined - They must require a way to specify their state via the commandline (e.g. we can tell ardour to load a certain ardour session at startup) Original announcement: http://lists.linuxaudio.org/pipermail/linux-audio-dev/2007-July/019502.html - Newest version download: http://tapas.affenbande.org/lash_wrap/lash_wrap-0.5.tgz + Newest version download: http://tapas.affenbande.org/lash_wrap/lash_wrap-0.8.tgz -- [needs-packaging] lash_wrap https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184568 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 183111] Re: [needs-packaging] zynjacku (LV2 synth host)
** Description changed: zynjacku is JACK based, GTK (2.x) host for LV2 synths. It has one JACK MIDI input port (routed to all hosted synths) and one (two for stereo synths) JACK audio output port per plugin. Such design provides multi- timbral sound by running several synth plugins. zynjacku is a nunchaku weapon for JACK audio synthesis. You have solid parts for synthesis itself and you have flexible part that allows synthesis to suit your needs. http://home.gna.org/zynjacku/ + + NOTE! Needs lv2dynparam for LV2 dynamic parameter extension. That should + probably be packaged separately although at the moment no other LV2 + hosts than zynjacku uses it. [Bug 183113] Please package zyn (LV2 soft synth)
Public bug reported: The zyn project main goal is to extract synth engines from ZynAddSubFX and pack them in LV2 plugin format. Resulting plugins are heavily based on work made by Nasca Octavian Paul. If you like the amazing sounds these plugins generate you should thank Paul for this. http://home.gna.org/zyn/ At the moment (15.1.2008) only add synthesis (zynadd) exists. NOTE! [Bug 182147] Re: Current version (2.3-1) totally breaks zynaddsubfx
I tested to build the source package of mxml 2.4 which was attached to the debian bug. [Bug 182147] Current version (2.3-1) totally breaks zynaddsubfx
Public bug reported: Version 2.3 of mxml is incompatible with ZynAddSubFX (package: zynaddsubfx). No sounds can be loaded in ZynAddSubFX because it cannot read it's xml data files properly with the new version of mxml. The problem can be solved either by reverting to mxml version 2.2 or using the new 2.4 version (which still gives warnings but they don't affect functionaly).
