[Bug 327872] Re: Missing support for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS)

2009-09-14 Thread Jae Stutzman
As a dev/user I happen to agree with the sentiment of the last two
authors. Sure Nautilus doesn't have anything to do with this, but that
is what the user sees. I remember reading something somewhere that
Ubuntu was going to work better with upstream to help solve this very
problem.

1. A user files a bug he sees and does not necessarily know what package is
responsible for said bug.
2. Ubuntu devs (or other midnight hackers) figure out what is really wrong
and internally assign it to the correct package.
3. Somehow the bugs are transfered upstream with links back to launchpad bug.
4. Upstream fixes (eventually in there own time since we don't own or control
them)
5. Launchpad bug is marked fixed with the correct upstream version.
6. Users and Devs rejoice!

Otherwise users are going to be intimidated (which goes against the
code-of-conduct IIRC) and leave the project.

...or did i mis-read something somewhere?

Cheers.

2009-09-13 Thread Jae Stutzman

indicator LED. However once disabled, it never reconnects to the

[Bug 378516] [NEW] CUPS gutenprint generates incorrect ppd for Epson Photo 900

Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu in jaunty from ports.ubuntu.com with armel architecture

DefaultColorModel: CMYK

Reviewing this further reveals that there is more wrong here. Only Black
is mapped to the correct color at the printer.

Cyan is mapped to Yellow in ink
Magenta is mapped to Cyan in ink
Yellow is mapped to Magenta in ink

Aside from the mis-map, the printer performs fine.

this a PDF to PS issue? I really don't know much about cups+gutenprint

2008-11-02 Thread Jae Stutzman
My Logitech QuickCam E2500 also does not work with Intrepid kernel
2.6.27-7-generic x64. Since gspca is now a part of the kernel and
support for the E2500 requires a patch to gspca, can we expect an
updated kernel with support for this camera? So far I have not seen any
solutions to this problem, or any indication that a kernel.org kernel
actually works with this camera.

Jussi,

Your suggested workaround does NOT work with my mobo. The only option
that I've found to work is nolapic. To me this bug does not appear to be
a duplicate since the solutions offered do not work. This is with kernel
2.6.17-11.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 63134
Kernel panic - not syncing, when installing Edgy Beta1

[Bug 19552] Re: Crash after firefox is opening a new window (when it should open the new URL in the same window/tab)

2007-01-09 Thread Jae Stutzman
Crashed...happened when trying to download large .deb. Seems to be
related to this bug. Used 100% of CPU then crashed. Did not actually
start the download.

[Bug 63283] Re: Live CD will not boot on my PC.

2006-10-27 Thread Jae Stutzman
The released version of Edgy 6.10 still has the same problem with the
Kernel Panic. I've found a workaround for my motherboard/BIOS
combination by passing the: nolapic parameter to the boot string. This
allows the LiveCD to boot. Hopefully this info will help people.

2006-10-02 Thread Jae Stutzman
I will add the output when I get back to the PC.

To answer your other questions:
It does not display an error it locks up right after the splash screen is
displayed. If I boot without the splash the cursor just blinks at the top. I
tried noacpi without success.

[Bug 63283] Re: Live CD will not boot on my PC.

2006-10-02 Thread Jae Stutzman
I can let it sit longer...although my numlock key doesn't change the
status on my keyboard (which normally means my machine is locked up),
also ctrl+alt+del doesn't reboot.

I'm not by the machine right now, but I will verify a few things later
today. My CD drive is fast, I was able to boot with Dapper CD just fine.
