[Bug 327872] Re: Missing support for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS)
As a dev/user I happen to agree with the sentiment of the last two authors. Sure Nautilus doesn't have anything to do with this, but that is what the user sees. I remember reading something somewhere that Ubuntu was going to work better with upstream to help solve this very problem. 1. A user files a bug he sees and does not necessarily know what package is responsible for said bug. 2. Ubuntu devs (or other midnight hackers) figure out what is really wrong and internally assign it to the correct package. 3. Somehow the bugs are transfered upstream with links back to launchpad bug. 4. Upstream fixes (eventually in there own time since we don't own or control them) 5. Launchpad bug is marked fixed with the correct upstream version. 6. Users and Devs rejoice! Otherwise users are going to be intimidated (which goes against the code-of-conduct IIRC) and leave the project. ...or did i mis-read something somewhere? I will add the output when I get back to the PC. To answer your other questions: It does not display an error it locks up right after the splash screen is displayed. If I boot without the splash the cursor just blinks at the top. I tried noacpi without success. -- Live CD will not boot on my PC. https://launchpad.net/bugs/63283 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63283] Re: Live CD will not boot on my PC.
I can let it sit longer...although my numlock key doesn't change the status on my keyboard (which normally means my machine is locked up), also ctrl+alt+del doesn't reboot. I'm not by the machine right now, but I will verify a few things later today. My CD drive is fast, I was able to boot with Dapper CD just fine. -- Live CD will not boot on my PC. https://launchpad.net/bugs/63283 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63283] Live CD will not boot on my PC.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-live This should have been reported in: bootcd-i386 I have tried all previous _releases_ of Edgy including the current beta. None will boot on my PC. I'm using an ECS K7VTA3 v8.0 motherboard with AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+ cpu. Some of my other specs: - AGP GeForce 6600GT - 1 gig of ram - Adaptec SCSI card AHA-2940U I'm running Dapper without issues on this machine. I keep thinking that someone will find and fix the problem, but now that the beta is out I thought I should act.
