[Bug 1295628] Re: Just trying to fresh install 14.04.

2014-03-23 Thread Jafar Calley
I ended up booting up in regular USB mode instead of UEFI and it worked
out fine.

Don't use UEFI on this beta if you want to have a good time :)

[Bug 989191] Re: Asus Zenbook UX31E powers off on plugin in/out AC adapter

2012-10-26 Thread Jafar Calley
I have the same problem.

jafar@anachronos:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.10
Release:12.10

jafar@anachronos:~$ uname -ar
Linux anachronos 3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9 19:31:23 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The problem only occurs when logged in to Unity. I can unplug without
shutdown by switching to tty console first, unplugging, then switching
back to unity after. The same when plugging back in after being on
battery.

Got the same error trying to install 10.10 Maverick via USB stick.
Problem solved by selecting ACPI=off option at the USB stick's boot screen.

[Bug 363870] Re: no sound on laptop hp dv6-1030ef

2009-05-22 Thread Jafar Calley
YML You are Brilliant. These commands allow me to manually activate the
headphones and mute the speakers when I need to use headphones. The next
question is how to get it to happen automatically when I plug in and
unplug the headphones. I'm on a DV6-1045 btw.

YML Wrote-
Recap after reboot:

#activate the sound on the speaker
sudo ./hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1 set_gpio_data 1
sudo ./hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1 set_gpio_dir 1
sudo ./hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1 set_gpio_mask 1

#activate the sound on the headset
sudo ./hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x0f SET_CONNECT_SEL 1

#mute the speaker
sudo ./hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x0d SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL 0
#unmute the speaker
