[Bug 317094] Re: evtouch meta bug to collect lshal info

2009-05-13 Thread Jake
G'Day,

I have a CF-18 toughbook with a LBPS/2 Fujitsu Lifebook TouchScreen. I
have previously had this working on hardy with evtouch drivers compiled
against an older version of xorg, however this does not work on jaunty.
If support could be added by default for this screen it would be greatly
appreciated.

Jake

[Bug 66484] Edgy and Dapper: I get a rasta-colored screen after resuming from Suspend

2006-10-16 Thread Jake
Public bug reported:

similar to report #48209:

On Dell Latitude C640, Edgy (updated 10/15 from Dapper) has a monitor
failure. I hear the login screen functions, but only see green and black
stripes. Tried the remedy from #48209, but no go.

[Bug 290153] Re: Fails to find boot device in Intel D945Gnt

2009-06-03 Thread Jake
I don't know if this helps or not, but I'll throw it in anyway. I had
the same issue with 2.6.28-12-generic on the same Intel MB. When I
tried to reinstall the kernel from the CLI, APT gave me a message about
DPKG needing to be reconfigured. I followed the command it gave me
(sudo dpkg --configure -a). It went through process of reconfiguring
everything, including the kernel. From that point, I've been able to
boot just fine, without a workaround.

DamnSmallL & FeatherL have booted this HP, but only really bad VGA.
Vers of SLAX do like 7.04. I've tried a lot of Linuxes on this HP, and
DSL & Feather have come the closest. I think Blue Floppy booted and
ran; got online with modem, and used BF's little gui browser--but I may
be remembering something else.

Have tried all recommended live boot starts. Vmlinuz, etc., loads runs,
to READY. System stops. Stops reading cd. The cd boots a PII Sony,
but runs so slow it's not worth the effort to load. It's somewhat
faster on a AMD64 laptop 1.5GBram, but still not worth it. I've been
looking for a Linux to run the HP for some time. It's my base sys, and
I want the rest of my computers to run the same sys.

Thanx,

Jake

[Bug 244134] [NEW] wireless netgear WG311v3 pci card in 8.04

2008-06-29 Thread Jake
Public bug reported:

I have tried using ndiswrapper with the windows driver for the card, and
the driver installs. I check using ndiswrapper -l to see if it is there.
Say driver installed and hardware with correct location present. This
works but after that nothing happens. No wireless is detected. I've
tried using iwlist to scan but it says wlan0 is not available for
scanning.

[Bug 210219] Re: remove tsclient from hardy as it duplicates the functionnality of vinagre

2008-08-05 Thread Jake
The above is true (that Vinagre has less protocol functionality than
TSClient), it's also true that it seems slower and less stable (even
moreso when running "tightvnc", rather than "vnc4viewer"). On top of
all this, it also has no visible option for overloading keypresses in a
"keygrab-like" behavior, which makes administering remote systems more
difficult.

I noticed that Hardy final ships with "Vinagre" and "tightvnc" by
default now; and "tsclient" and "vnc4viewer" have been removed. I'm
just wondering if it was a result of this bug, which is still marked as
both new and undecided.

It may have been that someone took this bug as read when doing some kind
of package change, though unlikely. In either case, though, this one
should probably be resolved, since "tsclient" has been removed from
Hardy.

On another note, I'm assuming there was some compelling thought process
behind the replacement; but can't seem to find anything. I'll make a
case for backing the default shipped packages back, if only because it
adds more protocols to new Ubuntu users... but not until I know what the
rational behind the replacement might be. Could be a good one.

So, anyone know how this decision was reached, off hand?

[Bug 47649] Re: Landscape PDF printed as portrait (and truncated)

2007-05-12 Thread Jake
I was create the attached short perl script for repairing bad
orientation in postscript documents.

Steps bellow describes both paper side printing landscape multiple page PPT
slide and sounds like from year 1974, but it works well for me on Feisty.
It's all just the open-source-puzzle, you know? :-(

1) ooimpress slide.ppt: Export as PDF > print.pdf
2) kpdf print.pdf: Print to file (PostScript): Landscape > print.ps
3) ./fix_orient print.ps
4) kghostview print.ps: Print: Landscape, Short Side Duplex, Muliple Pages per
Sheet Filter using "psnup -l" (lanscape rotation is needed for correct page
order)

So, enjoy my salutary fix_orient :-D

least pre-Dapper.

Wait, I'm confused - which one is the regression? The OP's problem or
my problem as a result of the fix for his problem?

Public bug reported:

7.04 will not boot HP WorkS. PII Xeon slot 2 [1cpu], integrated scsi,

Thanx,

Jake

Public bug reported:

7.04 will not boot HP WorkS. PII Xeon slot 2 [1cpu], integrated scsi,
Ultra-ata-33, AdaptecAIC7880 PCI scsi controller, Symbios Logic 875XS/D,

Thanx,

Jake

[Bug 213892] Re: Unable to upgrading with liblaunchpad-integration1 package

2008-04-08 Thread Jake
I also got this error, I believe.

Package Manager says this after failing to install "launchpad-
integration1_0.1.18_i386.deb":

"E: /var/cache/apt/archives/liblaunchpad-integration1_0.1.18_i386.deb:
trying to overwrite `/usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/lpi-bug.png',
which is also in package liblaunchpad-integration0"

Hope that helps.

[Bug 235070] Re: Please apply libgomp patch to GCC for Hardy Heron

2008-09-17 Thread Jake
I've also got the error:

/usr/lib/libgomp.so.1: cannot allocate memory in static TLS block

with proposed hardy updates enabled:

ls -ltr /usr/lib/libgomp.so.1.0.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 30024 2008-09-10 21:30 /usr/lib/libgomp.so.1.0.0

If I can provide any additional information I will. FYI, when compiled
with icc the program works fine.
