2020-05-15 Thread James Hall
Public bug reported:

experiencing frame "stutter" or regular dropped frames in gnome. Occurs

[Bug 1092479] Re: Kernel 3.2.0-35-generic-pae does not boot

Seems to be a problem with the nouveau driver as setting nomodeset in
grub allows the kernel to boot, although 3D acceleration then doesn't
work.

With the same model of laptop I can confirm that this bug affects me
too. If you need my logs let me know, though they look very similar to
Gert's. However I'm not running the pae kernel but rather the generic 64

[Bug 241960] [NEW] Indent plugin does't respect keyboard layout preferences

2008-06-21 Thread James Hall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

I use the dvorak keyboard layout chosen using the gnome keyboard
preferences.

Expected behavior:
When I press Ctrl-T (dvorak layout) I expect the selected text to indent.

Observed behavior:
Dvorak Ctrl-T does nothing but standard qwerty Ctrl-T does indent text which
corresponds to dvorak Ctrl-Y.

Running Ubuntu 8.04 and gedit 2.22.3-0ubuntu1.

[Bug 198313] Re: Integrate extra buttons in mouse properties

2008-06-02 Thread James Hall
I would say that this is a definite necessity. It's pretty much accepted
that mice should just work but they can't really be said to just
work if not all buttons work.

Ideally I think that ubuntu should should ship with a sane set of
defaults such as side buttons being forward and back. Obviously this
wont suit everyone so perhaps a graphical configurator should be added
to the present Mouse dialog under preferences. Maybe it should have a
series of Button 1 , Button 2 etc widgets that light up when the
corresponding button is pressed and drop down boxes with common actions
such as forward, back, left click, right click and finally an option for
a keyboard combination. That should probably launch a pop-up that would
just take whatever keys are pressed.

[Bug 230789] Re: Liferea font size in feeds changes at random

2008-05-29 Thread James Hall
Now you mention it I am also seeing the font size get bigger on some
websites including launchpad (I had not noticed this before as I had put
the changes down to a strange choice of font sizes on the part of the
site designer.) It seems that I get the bigger font sizes on a very few
web pages whenever I have normal fonts in liferea and these pages
display properly when I have incorrect small font sizes in liferea.

It does look like this bug is similar to bug 201056 although I do not
get large fonts in firefox and liferea at the same time.

[Bug 230789] Re: Liferea font size in feeds changes at random

2008-05-29 Thread James Hall
It seems there is a partial fix in bug 178558. Changing layout.css.dpi
to 96 in about:config seems to fix the large font sizes on some pages in
firefox. I've no idea if it solves the small text in liferea though, I
guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a duplicate of bug 178558 as I can't
see any mention of small text there.

[Bug 230789] [NEW] Liferea font size in feeds changes at random

2008-05-15 Thread James Hall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: liferea

The text in the feed text frame of Liferea (1.4.14-0ubuntu4) changes
arbitrarily. On opening the program I notice that the font size has
shrunk from what would normally be expected. However logging out then
back in fixes this problem with no need to alter the text size settings.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) and I'm using the Firefox 3 beta 5 release
that comes with the default install (It's my understanding that Liferea
uses the gecko engine to render feeds.)
