[Bug 1797643] Re: akonadi fails to start for fresh user/install in Cosmic
Hi there, I don't think this is solved in Kubuntu 18.10 Cosmic! Today I tried to open a new account for my wife. New user created using terminal and all correct permissions for home directory ownership etc applied. Cannot use Kontact PIM due to Akonadi not starting correctly! dorell@Kubasus:~$ akonadictl start Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString) dorell@Kubasus:~$ WARNING: Could not write to config file /usr/my-new.cnf: Permission denied FATAL ERROR: Neither host 'Kubasus' nor 'localhost' could be looked up with /usr/bin/resolveip Please configure the 'hostname' command to return a correct hostname. If you want to solve this at a later stage, restart this script with the --force option /usr/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 1049: Unknown database 'akonadi' when selecting the database Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString) org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Agent instance "akonadi_baloo_indexer" has no interface! org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Agent instance "akonadi_baloo_indexer" has no interface! org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: ProcessControl: Application "/usr/bin/akonadi_baloo_indexer" stopped unexpectedly ( "Process crashed" ) org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Application '/usr/bin/akonadi_baloo_indexer' crashed! 1 restarts left. I wonder if this is the same problem or a different one? I'm not sure but I know that I cannot use Kontact/KMail because Akonadi refuses to play. I'm not a very advanced user buut I can follow instructions and use the Terminal when asked :) If I should provide further detail than please ask. Thanks. You say the patch has been applied but...I didn't apply it. Do I take it that the patch is already included in the distribution I have installed? Also, could this locked database have anything to do with a failed attempt to install SuSE Linux? I just installed Kubuntu over the top and it reformatted the partitions anyway? SUSE did not make half as good a job of setting up my system that Kubuntu did, hence my return to it! :) If you have any further suggestins I would appreciate it. Should I re install? [Bug 48627] Re: Poor resolution of "database locked" problem
Hi, I recently opened a new bug report called "Cannot update packages at all" Bug no [EMAIL PROTECTED] However, on reading this bug report I think that this is the problem I am experiencing. I tried downloading the patch but it loads as a Text file. Being quite new to this I wondered if somone could help a newbie apply thi patch to see if it fixes my problems? I do get the database locked messages and I cannot use Adept at all. Thanks in anticipation. [Bug 210802] [NEW] Cannot update packages at all!
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager I seem to be unable to update any packages. I have been trying to install Mozilla Thunderbird over the past few days and it remains greyed out in the Adept udate manager. I have tried to install the update to the latest Distribution of Kubuntu but, initially it went through the motions of installing but had hundreds of errors and then finally trashed my installation. I have re installed Kubuntu and now cannot update with Adept at all. I have tried issuing the sudo update command through terminal but that gave an error message about a list file being locked?? The wizard advised me to send a copy of /var/log/dist-upgrade with this report so I have tried to attach this Can you suggest what is going on? ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot update packages at all! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210802 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
