[Bug 1853369] Re: [19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"

2020-04-29 Thread Jan-Jonas Sämann
I recently came across this issue multiple times in ansible-managed virtual
environments. (Really bad)
This happens to me all the time because of invalid GRUB configurations.
Namingly if GRUB is set to also output to serial when there is no serial port
attached to the vm.

Could imagine that maybe at the time of the last kernel update, there
was (accidently) some usb drive connected to the mashine of the TE wich
grub now manifested and requires to map the device tree... o.O

If so, both cases must not prevent a mashine from being bootable.

[Bug 1756311] Re: fstrim and discard operations take too long to complete

2018-12-23 Thread Jan-Jonas Sämann
Happens to me randomly, I think scheduled by the systemd timer. When
fstrim is called on the root mount it instant hangs the entire system
forever. Mouse and keyboard do respond but anything requiring disk
access wont be accessible anmore.

iotop is showing fstrim stuck on 100% IO at 0KB/s read and 0KB/s write.

I have a Kingston SHFS37A SSD, / is ext4.

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2018-09-13 Thread Jan-Jonas Sämann
This stupid behavior isn't only inconvinient,

-> this really BREAKS FUNCTIONALITY if you work on network resources.

Especially in Germany where possible internet speeds in many locations
do not exeed well known dialup connection speeds.

What happens then is a complete lockup on nautilus while the filelists
are queried again from the remote site. This usually takes minutes to
complete.

  I have the same Problem!
I am using the NVIDIA Quadro 450 NVS with 3-4 Monitors. The Problem occurs
with 2-4 Monitors enabled. Only files or icons on the desktop or within folders
are affected, but Windows itself are not.
  I am running Ubuntu 11.10 86_64.
I posted a detailed description including my Xorg.conf here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1916670

Please could you fix that bug somehow?
  Thanks a lot!
