[Bug 1326705] [NEW] Precise kvmhost ends in fsck when adding to a open vswitch on a trusty wirth

2014-06-05 Thread Jan Müller
Public bug reported:

How to rebuild:
Install a fresh precise kvm host (current 12.04.4) from an iso on a trusty
(14.04) host.
Add precise host to a open vSwitch
Start the machine
machine is fscking forever.

Details:
Installation, etc works fine, until i connect the host to a open vSwitch. (does
not matter if I do that befor or after installation. the installation works
normally). After adding the open vSwich

`virsh edit hostname`
adding
`interface type='bridge'
 source bridge='ovsbr-name'/
 virtualport type='openvswitch' /
 model type='virtio'/
/interface
`
the vm cannot startup anymore; it hangs in fsck forever(see attached picture).
when i delete the open vSwitch interface for the host, it will start again.

tried the same thing with trusty hosts, which works perfectly fine when
doing this.

tried installation a few times (checked sha256 sums of iso!), nothing
helped.

It’s kinda looks like #1047531 , but I’m not sure.

[Bug 1323552] [NEW] [rsync] badly quotes the --delete option

2014-05-27 Thread Jan Müller
Public bug reported:

See Debian bug #683731 [1]
This bug is currently not resoved in debian, but upstream has resolved it. The
patch [2] just needs to be applied by debian and ubuntu.

[1: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=683731 ]

My System:

Ubuntu Release:
Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Kernel:
Linux 3.13.0-24-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 2 23:30:00 UTC 2014 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Package:
backupninja 1.0.1-2

-- Description of the debian bug #683731:

Backupninja fails to run a rsync action such as:

[general]

mountpoint = /tmp
backupdir = test
format = mirror

[source]

from = local
include = /home
numericids = 1

The output gives the following error:

Info: starting action 10.test.rsync (because of --now)
Debug: yes
Debug: executing handler in locked section controlled by
/var/lock/backupninja/10.test.rsync
Info: Syncing /home on /tmp/test//home//...

su: unrecognized option '--delete'
Usage: su [options] [LOGIN]

Options:

-h, --helpdisplay this help message and exit
-, -l, --loginmake the shell a login shell
-m, -p,
--preserve-environmentdo not reset environment variables, and
keep the same shell
-s, --shell SHELL use SHELL instead of the default in passwd

Fatal: Rsync error 2 when trying to transfer /home
Fatal:  finished action 10.test.rsync: FAILED
Debug: send report to root
Info: FINISHED: 1 actions run. 1 fatal. 0 error. 0 warning.

Running backupninja through `bash -x` shows that the `--delete` option
from the rsync command is not included in the single quote for the `su
-c` command:

nice -n 0 su -c '/usr/bin/rsync -av' --delete '--recursive
--delete-excluded//home/ /tmp/test//home//'

By the way, the command in the debugging output differs from what is
being run by backupninja (it doesn't show the `su -c` part).

[Bug 1320221] [NEW] Apparmor blocks creating external snaphshot

2014-05-16 Thread Jan Müller
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Trying to create an external snapshot of a kvm-vm:

virsh snapshot-create-as vmname snapname snap1 description
--diskspec vda,file=path --disk-only --atomic

this fails caused by apparmor, which does not allow access to the image (in my

shutting down apparmor, everything works fine :)

Our nagios check_disk check reports 99% use of inode, but thats wrong

kinda looks like this nagios_plugin bug
(http://sourceforge.net/p/nagiosplug/bugs/541/)

for example:
/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w 10% -c 5% -W 5% -x /backup_vms -x
/media/BACKUP_QUARTERLY -A -i '.gvfs'

reports:
DISK WARNING - free space: / 11806 MB (26% inode=88%); /dev 12043 MB (99%
inode=99%); /run 4814 MB (99% inode=99%); /run/lock 4 MB (99% inode=99%);
/run/shm 12054 MB (99% inode=99%); /home 237213 MB (69% inode=99%); /data
859590 MB (43% inode=98%); /backup 487962 MB (9% inode=99%);|
/=33118MB;42578;44943;0;47309 /dev=0MB;10838;11440;0;12043
/run=7MB;4338;4579;0;4821 /run/lock=0MB;4;4;0;5
/run/shm=0MB;10848;11451;0;12054 /home=105345MB;324665;342702;0;360739
/data=1116179MB;1872564;1976595;0;2080627
/backup=4857316MB;5068223;5349791;0;5631359

/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w 10% -c 5% -W 5% -p /backup

reports:
DISK WARNING - free space: /backup 487962 MB (9% inode=99%);|
/backup=4857316MB;5068223;5349791;0;5631359

/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w 10% -c 5% -W 5% -p /home/

reports:
DISK OK - free space: /home 237213 MB (69% inode=99%);|
/home=105345MB;324665;342702;0;360739

`df -hi` output:

Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on
/dev/sda33.0M  334K  2.6M   12% /
udev 3.0M   575  3.0M1% /dev
(...)
/dev/sdd1350M  1.9M  348M1% /backup

Disk check should be OK (and inode should show ~ the same results as df -hi)

[Bug 554172] Re: CUPS and other system services not starting at boot

2010-08-04 Thread Jan Müller
I agree about Critical being the right category. Even people knowing the
workaround will have problems when they supervise a system where not
every user can sudo. Which would be EVERY system where some new user is
being helped by someone else (partner, friend, co-worker). This new
users will indeed switch if they can't use their computer as a
typewriter.
