[Bug 760814] Re: Compiz Very Slow and Choppy in Natty Classic

I am running GNOME3. I had big performance problems but things vastly
improved with new nvidia drivers from ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates.

Yes, same here.

Although I wrote it is fixed for me, I had experienced one login when
icon theme was set wrong ... and the login took several times longer
than usually.

2009-12-07 Thread Jan Mynarik
I'm using up-to-date Karmic with 'proposed' repository and the last fix
is a regression for me. I didn't have the problem because it had been
fixed for me with the first fix (during Karmic development).

Now all new files or folders on Desktop (or renamed) loose their
position on the first logout/login or refresh (Ctrl-R on desktop).

I have the same gvfs* packages with same versions.

Although, I remember doing one thing before ... I removed metadata information
about Desktop from ~/.nautilus/metafiles. I did this:
cd ~/.nautilus/metafiles
find | grep Desktop.xml
...and removed that file and restarted nautilus (relogin or killall nautilus)

But I'm not sure this is the solution.

[Bug 439730] [NEW] Desktop: Icons of linked files/dirs do not follow user-set position

2009-09-30 Thread Jan Mynarik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

On desktop, all icons of linked files or directories are always sorted.
You can move the icons but they stay on that place only till reload

This is a regression from 8.04. When upgraded to Karmic, the linked
files/dirs' icons were sorted.

It doesn't depend on chosen screensaver. My card is nVidia NVS 135M.

[Bug 281713] [NEW] [intrepid] regression: evince doesn't print vector images in PDF

2008-10-11 Thread Jan Mynarik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

1) Open a PDF file with inner vector images, e.g. this one:
http://korfbal.prostejov.cz/files/PVkorfbal%20zpravodaj%202008-10.pdf
2) The file is rendered OK on screen, in this specific PDF see the images/logos
on top (these are vector images, originally SVGs, PDF created in Scribus)
3) Open Print preview (in Print dialog) OR print to PS file OR print on printer
(in my case HP Photosmart C7280)

In all cases mentioned in 3) the result is without those vector images.

This is critical for me and definately a regression. It works OK in
hardy. I upgraded to Intrepid just after beta went out and this bug
appeared.

Actually, it's more serious. I can confirm that dropping to attachments
area doesn't work at all. And dropping to message body works only for
SOME files. I can drop text and SVG files, but cannot drop JPG, DOC,

Please increase importance. It's a regression.

[Bug 141001] Re: Large fonts in window titles

2007-10-16 Thread Jan Mynarik
My guess is that it's related to DPI. I think the DPI is probably
changed during gnome startup and if compiz gets started before this
change, it has got big fonts in titles. If it's started later, it's OK.

Also note that I've got this problem on a new computer with Gutsy RC
installed too.

Same here, it appears for me in let's say 1 of 3 logins. Faster work-

It is pretty annoying bug :-)

[Bug 125209] Re: Flash video in Epiphany doesn't die when browser is closed

2007-07-21 Thread Jan Mynarik
If I open only pages without flash, epiphany closes OK and no process
remains. Once I open something with flash content, closing any further
ephy tab or window (even without flash) produces something like this ...

sys:1: Warning: IA__g_object_remove_toggle_ref: couldn't find toggle ref
0xb4fa4a30(0x8ac07d4)

... and of course there is remaining ephy process even after closing all
windows.

I'm willing to produce some more debug information, just tell me what
exactly you need.

[Bug 125209] Re: Flash video in Epiphany doesn't die when browser is closed

2007-07-21 Thread Jan Mynarik
Same problem here. I would add that any flash content does this for me.
Browser windows disappear when closed but they are still in memory.
Opening (and eventually closing) further windows leads to huge CPU and
memory consumption and finally epiphany crashes.

One remarkable thing is with killing epiphany. When I close all epiphany
windows and then killall epiphany-browser, I see a lot of small windows
appearing for a while (not enough time to even display its contents but
it definately appears on screen and in tasklist).

I saw a similar window once and it said something about script slowing
down the computer. It may be related to compiz as well, will investigate
further.

I have no such problems with firefox.

[Bug 122604] [Gutsy] compiz wrapper wrongly thinks I'm using vesa or vga driver

2007-06-27 Thread Jan Mynarik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Compiz wrapper wrongly thinks I'm using vesa or vga driver, although my
driver is i810_drv.so. The result is that I can't use compiz at all and
it automatically falls back to metacity.

Driver recognition logic in compiz wrapper sees loading of both vesa and
vga drivers but these are unloaded afterwards. I have no xorg.conf. Will
attach my Xorg.0.log.

If it's possible I suggest using xdriinfo.

[Bug 52685] Re: x11-common installs dup files

2007-04-12 Thread Jan Mynarik
I had a similar problem when a file belonged to a package (according to
dpkg -S) but it wasn't a part of current version. Try to manually remove
(sudo rm) all duplicate files (from both x11-common and xinit packages)
and then reinstall both packages (sudo apt-get install --reinstall
x11-common xinit). This should probably remove duplicate files for you
and install the right ones.

[Bug 90728] Re: Network-Manager-Applet 0.6.4 shows "no network connection" but I have one

2007-04-12 Thread Jan Mynarik
I have the same problem as Joseph. I'm on wired network (successfully
connected, tested with ping and with browser) but nm-applet says "no
network connection" and shows "no network" icon. The wired connection
itself is set up by network-manager as you can see in attached snippet
of /var/log/syslog.

/etc/network/interfaces:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

If you need any more information, logs or anything else that will help you
resolve this bug, just let me know! Thanks.

I haven't experienced this bug almost since the time I filed this bug

[Bug 78756] Re: photo import does not work any more

2007-03-02 Thread Jan Mynarik
Found it! ;-)

pkg-config checks libgphoto2 that needs libgphoto2_port (both provided
by libgphoto2-dev package). libgphoto2-port0 binary package depends on
libusb-0.1-4 binary package but libgphoto2-dev DOESN'T depend on libusb-
dev. pkg-config check of libgphoto2_port.pc fails because it can't find
libusb.pc.

So it is a problem in libgphoto2-dev package not depending on libusb-
dev, I think. If someone confirms this, please open a bug in libgphoto2
package.

[Bug 86013] Re: [Feisty] Keyboard layout is not indicated

2007-02-26 Thread Jan Mynarik
Workaround is to remove all keyboard related settings from gconf:
1) logout, login in text console
2) kill -1 -1, wait a moment and then kill -3 -1
3) go to .gconf directory and remove apps/gswitchit directory, remove
desktop/peripherals/keyboard as well
4) sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
5) login in gdm
6) setup you keyboard preferences again

For some people this can work, others may need to:

7) logout, go to text console
8) restart gdm again: sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

This fixed the problem for me. Personally, I suspect that the real
problem is the apps/gswitchit directory only and it should be removed
from gconf during upgrade.
