[Bug 315513] [NEW] package description is wrong

2009-01-09 Thread JanJan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnupg2

The package description contains the following sentence: "GnuPG does not
use any patented algorithms so it cannot be compatible with PGP2 because
it uses IDEA (which is patented worldwide). "

While it is true that GnuPG is not compatible to PGP2 because it does
not use IDEA, it is not true that IDEA is (still) patented. The patent
of IDEA was expired some time ago. I propose to remove the sentence at
all because PGP2 has no relevance anymore. Also this is true for
translations of the text.

[Bug 301521] [NEW] redundant nautilus windows with multi user usage

2008-11-23 Thread JanJan
Public bug reported:

When two users are logged in and one user is inserting and removing
storage media (CD-ROM, USB memory) the other user gets Nautilus windows
as well as unreasonable error messages popped up when returning to his
session. The Nautilus windows are supposed to show the content of the
inserted storage media. The error messages are "DBUS error" and "can not
show directory content because of access rights". These error messages
also pop up if no problem occurred for the first user.

For my opinion for the second user no window should pop up at all - no
unreasonable error message and no Nautilus window.

[Bug 278074] [NEW] [Intrepid] External crypto-drives are not mounted after given password

2008-10-04 Thread JanJan
Public bug reported:

While a similar bug occured for me with previous Ubuntu releases
(plural!) about 50% of the time with Ubuntu 8.10 it seems to happen 100%
of the time.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open encrypted partition in Nautilus or places menu.
2. Enter password.
3. The following error is displayed: "mount: special device /dev/dm-0 does not
exist"
Also a bulb icon in the status bar is displayed which shows the following error
message:
"DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the
message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or
the network connection was broken."

Please, this bug is so annoying and present since several Ubuntu
releases! I would very appreciate to get it fixed!

[Bug 278051] [NEW] flash player broken in full screen mode

2008-10-04 Thread JanJan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

Today I upgrated to Ubuntu 8.10 and found a problem watching flash
videos.

1. Flash videos in Firefox sometimes display a "damaged" picture which
contains unusual artifacts. Please check the attached screen shot.

2. When pressing the full screen button in flash the video is displayed
in full screen but with a VERY low framerate. I can watch each frame to
be displayed at the screen from top to down. It seems that flash/Firefox
requires 100% CPU in this mode (I have a 2GHz CPU).

The presets for field "genre" contains the racist notation "Negerpunk"
in the German translation. First of all I never heard about such a genre

well.

[Bug 94186] Re: 3c59x - 10/100 NIC fails to link to gigabit switch

Unfortunately I have to revoke my "work around". First I found out that

reports it seems to me that this bug should be fixed in devmapper

8.10 does currently not contain this version (version 1.02.25 instead).
So please upgrade devmapper before the next Ubuntu release to get rid of
this annoying bug!

[Bug 94186] Re: 3c59x - 10/100 NIC fails to link to gigabit switch

2008-08-14 Thread JanJan
My problem seems to be related to yours. I use a 3Com Ethernet card
(3c59x module) connected to a 100Mbit switch. Unfortunately the
connection is established by default with 10MBit. To connect with
100MBit I have to add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/options:

options 3c59x "options=0x008"

I don't know why the connection is not established with 100MBit by
default. I had the same problem with (another) 3c59x-compatible 3Com
card 9 or 10 years ago (completely different hardware and setup) Why
is this bug not fixed already?!

[Bug 217749] Re: [Hardy] Regression: External crypto-drives are not automounted after given password

2008-07-17 Thread JanJan
What does "fix released" mean? For me the problem is still existing,
also with the most recent upgrades.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cryptsetup

Upgrating from Gutsy to Hardy, the bug #132373 which was fixed later in
Gutsy seems to be open again. Mounting an encrypted partition under
Hardy failes randomly.

** Affects: cryptsetup (Ubuntu)
