2014-07-25 Thread Jannis Pohlmann
Pushed to master. Slightly reworded the commit message and fixed the
coding style (missing spaces before function call parentheses).

commit 6a63d7bd8ff0d937cb30f112c3fd080a5a107053
Author: Alistair Buxton a.j.bux...@gmail.com
Date: Wed Mar 12 20:20:05 2014 +

Add support for the GTK 3 bookmarks file (bug #10627)

The changes ensure that the config directory exists before attempting to
write bookmarks. It falls back to the old location to support both GTK 2

[Bug 805519] [NEW] After update: Audio-output only on the left side when using mono-track with usb-headset

2011-07-04 Thread Jannis Menn

When using VLC to play a WMA-File recorded in mono, I only get an audio-

Hi Brendan,

it happens only with vlc. I tried transcribe, xine and dragonPlayer, all

One information I forgot to mention: It seems to have something to do
with the package vlc-plugin-pulse. When I downgrade vlc /and/ this
package, it works again.

[Bug 710091] [NEW] apt-file update needed-dialog doesn't close automatically

2011-01-30 Thread Jannis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt-file

Today--after booting my laptop--I was greeted with a dialog which said
that apt-file needed an update. After clicking the update-button, a
console window opened and performed the desired update, before closing
silently. The first dialog (update needed) was still present and still
gave me the options to either perform the update or close the dialog.

At this point, it wasn't clear whether the update was properly done or whether
one needs to run it again. In any case, the initial dialog should either close
automatically or display a message box that the update was
successful.

Edit: The dialog I'm talking about can be seen here:

[Bug 709830] [NEW] kmail does not use the encryption-settings defined in the addressbook

2011-01-29 Thread Jannis Menn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdepim

I use Kmail to post on an encrypted mailinglist. So I have defined a
contact for the list in the kaddressbook, where in the encryption-
settings I have selected the keys of all the members of the group - so
that when I send mails to the list, it will be encrypted for all of
them.

This worked fine for some time now but recently (I can't say exactly
after which version - maybe after upgrading to kubuntu 10.10) kmail just
doesn't use the encryption-settings from the address-book anymore. So
when I select the mail to be encrypted, kmail suggests just the key for
the list-address itself - which is of course useless, because I want to
encrypt for all the members. So now I have to select the keys manually
for every mail i send.

The version of kontact is 4.4.6, I am using Kubuntu 10.10.

[Bug 553957] [NEW] Progressbars lack contrast (i.e. Transmission)

2010-04-02 Thread Jannis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: light-themes

The progressbars which are displayed in Transmission need to have way
more contrast in my opinion as it is very difficult to catch the
progress of individual downloads on a short glimpse. A screenshot is
attached.

I didn't see these progressbars in other applications (a smaller, red
one is used in the software center) but as other themes display
Transmission's progressbars differently , I suppose the bug is related
to the new themes and not the application.

[Bug 549081] [NEW] brightness-applet: click hides slider, only adjustable via keyboard

2010-03-26 Thread Jannis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

It is not possible for me to adjust the brightness on my Fujitsu-Siemens
Amilo Si 3655 laptop via the brightness-applet and the mouse. When I
click on the applet's icon, the slider shows up properly. But once I
click the slider or one of the two buttons (+ and -) the slider becomes
hidden. After clicking the icon again the slider shows again, but it is
not aligned under the icon but rather on the very left of the screen
next to the gnome menu. Clicking hides it again.

The only way to adjust the brightness via the applet is to use the
cursor keys once the slider is displayed.

I'm using ubuntu lucid with the latest updates installed.

[Bug 534116] [NEW] calendar should have option not to show days with repeating appointments bolded in the monthly summary view

2010-03-07 Thread Jannis Menn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

At the moment the monthly summary view of the evolution calendar marks every
day where there is an appointment bold. This leads to the situation where
almost all the days are bolded, which makes the feature quite useless. An
improvement of the feature would be to have an option for the user so that
repeating appointments do not make a day bolded (it's implented like this in
Kontact).

[Bug 534116] Re: calendar should have option not to show days with repeating appointments bolded in the monthly summary view

   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40457087/XsessionErrors.txt

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: evolution

At the moment the monthly summary view of the evolution calendar marks every
day where there is an appointment bold. This leads to the situation where
almost all the days are bolded, which makes the feature quite useless. An
improvement of the feature would be to have an option for the user so that
repeating appointments do not make a day bolded (it's implented like this in
Kontact).

[Bug 517121] Re: Operating System not found

2010-02-05 Thread Jannis
Yes, it think grub doesn't install into the disk's MBR correctly. I did
a manual partitioning as I wanted to keep the /home drive from the
previous install. There's only one disk ( /dev/sda ) and I partitioned
it like this:

SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) - 320 GB ATA WDC WD3200BEVT-2
No. 1 primary 4.0 GBF Swap Swap
   No. 2 primary30.0 GB B F ext4 /
   No. 3 primary286.1 GB ext4 /home

After running `grub-install /dev/sda` manually it exits with:
»Installation finished. No errors reported.«

Grub is version 1.98~20100101-1ubuntu1. I tried the x64 live cd and x64
alternate cd. The system I use is a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Si 3655 and
after searching around for other people having this issue I found a
forum thread [1] suggesting to install to /dev/sda2 additionally. So I
did a `grub-install /dev/sda2 --force` despite the warning that
installing to a partition instead to MBR is a bad idea. I got the
warning »Embedding is not possible. Grub can only be installed in this
setup using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and its use
is discouraged.«

Surprisingly, it work's now.

[Bug 475936] Re: /dev/mapper/tmp encrypted with /dev/urandom not mounted on bootup

2009-12-12 Thread Jannis Menn
Thanks a lot for the workaround, I had the same problem here, now it works.
It also fixed a problem at bootup, where I sometimes got the message
/dev/mapper/crypttemp already mounted or /tmp busy, which resulted in
mountall to fail, dropped into a root-shell and I needed to press CRTL-D to
retry.
I think this bug may affect a lot of people who believe that /tmp is encrypted
while it actually isn't.

[Bug 293772] [NEW] ktorrent crashes rt73usb

2008-11-04 Thread Jannis Menn
Public bug reported:

This is about the rt73usb (or rt2x00lib or rt2500) network-driver
module. I use a Linksys WUSB54GC USB-wlan-adapter.

When I use ktorrent for uploads or downloads, after a while (about 20 minutes)
the network connection crashes. I cannot send/receive data with the network,
altough ifconfig still says the connection is online.
With dmesg I get the following, repeatet several times:

[ 5831.767352] phy0 - rt2x00queue_write_tx_frame: Error - Arrived at non-free
entry in the non-full queue 2.

[ 5831.767354] Please file bug report to http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com.

When I use deactivate wireless connections in knetworkmanager, than
reactivate and connect again to my network, it works again.

[Bug 58551] Re: [edgy] verve panel plugin does not scale

This is no bug. It's just that GTK+ entries (the text input field used
in the plugin) cannot be scaled. You can see this when you make your
panel very large (e.g. give it a height of 100px). The input field
height will remain the same.
