[Bug 528324] Re: eclipse crashes due to xulrunner
This same issue seems to bother all SWT based applications (like Azureus/Vuze). But running Vuze you get a little bit more verbose 1) error message which actually helped me to find a temporary solution. For me the solution which makes Eclipse work again (until the real bug is fixed) was: jar...@sentti:~/btrfs/dev/eclipse$ XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 ./eclipse 1) Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'Vuze' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 8171 error_code 8 request_code 148 minor_code 4) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) aborting... -- eclipse crashes due to xulrunner https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/528324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 528324] Re: eclipse crashes due to xulrunner
Ok, I understand this. But this bug is also present on the Eclipse that came from Ubuntu's repository. I just verified it. Also it seems that I need to have XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 when starting vmware (workstation) it to display the VM's screen. Without XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 there's only a transparent square where you can see what's behind the vmware window. -- eclipse crashes due to xulrunner https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/528324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Aka a workaround is to set the WLAN AP to use channel other than 13 or/and set the channel width to 20Mhz. If the problem happens just sometimes this could be because the AP being set to auto channel selection and selects channel 13 for current session. -- iwl4965: Microcode SW error detected. [Bug 374010] [NEW] snd_pcm_delay() returned a value that is exceptionally large:
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Pulseaudio is misbehaving. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Currently mostly it doesn't work that much. I've been trying workaround by starting pulseaudio manually (pulseaudio --start, killing it (pulseaudio --kill). Use the console (-C) and verbose mode, but this still remains a big annoyning mystery.jar...@gandalf:~$ uname -a I noticed that there're several bugs related to pulseaudio, from which some of are marked as fixed, but it seems there're more than one real bug. insserv is broken - note that it's never been tested on Ubuntu and is generally not supported, even the package description notes that it can cause problems. Ah, OK. Actually i didn't have it installed at all. Only installed it sometimes during testing try to get issue sorted out. Is there an ubuntu supported tool for making the order in /etc/rcS.d or is it supposed to kept in sync manually? [Bug 321927] Re: /dev/pts and /dev/shm not mounted on boot
Is this bug tracked by another issue? Simply marking this bug as invalid will not fix the actual problem (which is /dev/shm and /dev/pts not being mounted on reboot after upgrade). If the tools are not obeying the Should-Start: directive in mountdevsubfs.sh, why not change it to Required-Start then? This fixes the problem. #! /bin/sh ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: mountdevsubfs # Required-Start:mountkernfs udev This seems to much simpler fix than fixing the insserv and doens't require revert later when it's actually fixed. Or if udev package required fix is required there's the keyword X-Start- Before (if it's honored) which could placed in /etc/init.d/udev to make it start before mountdevsubfs. A quick test shows that X-Start-Before seems to work. For testing I removed any udev dependencies from mountdevsubfs and added X-Start- Before:mountdevsubfs to /etc/init.d/udev, removed /etc/rcS.d/S05udev.sh and ran chkconfig udev S and /etc/rcS.d/S05udev appeared. #!/bin/sh -e ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: udev # Required-Start:mountkernfs # Required-Stop: # Should-Start: # X-Start-Before:mountdevsubfs # Default-Start: S # Default-Stop: # Short-Description: Start the udev daemon. # Description: Mounts the /dev virtual filesystem, starts the udev #daemon and populates /dev. ### END INIT INFO For double safety/complexity one could change udev to Required-Start: in /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh and also add the X-Start-Before: mountdevsubfs in /etc/init.d/udev. ** Attachment added: /etc/init.d/udev with # X-Start-Before:mountdevsubfs http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25380233/udev -- /dev/pts and /dev/shm not mounted on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can't remember doing anything that's related to reordering the contents of /etc/rcS.d. Is there a way to get it back as it should be? What says that udev must appear before mountdevsubfs? However I didn't have chkconfig installed, I had to install it with sudo apt-get install chdkconfig jar...@gandalf:/etc/rcS.d$ sudo chkconfig -e rsync insserv: warning: script 'K01gdm' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'S24linux-restricted-modules-common' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'K01asus-lightswitch' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'K01acpi-support' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'S02powernowd.early' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'gdm' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'powernowd.early' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'linux-restricted-modules-common' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'asus-lightswitch' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'acpi-support' missing LSB tags and overrides jar...@gandalf:/etc/rcS.d$ ls -l yhteensä 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 783 2009-03-31 12:01 README lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 2008-12-19 01:57 S02apparmor - ../init.d/apparmor lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2009-03-31 00:26 S02bootchart - ../init.d/bootchart lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2008-12-19 01:57 S02readahead - ../init.d/readahead lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2008-12-19 01:57 S03hostname.sh - ../init.d/hostname.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2008-12-19 01:57 S04mountkernfs.sh - ../init.d/mountkernfs.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2009-04-11 17:22 S05udev - ../init.d/udev lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2009-04-11 17:22 S06mountdevsubfs.sh - ../init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 2009-04-11 17:22 S07brltty - ../init.d/brltty lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2009-04-11 17:22 S07keyboard-setup - ../init.d/keyboard-setup lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2009-04-11 17:22 S07pcmciautils - ../init.d/pcmciautils lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 2009-04-11 17:22 S07procps - ../init.d/procps lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2009-04-11 17:22 S08checkroot.sh - ../init.d/checkroot.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2009-04-11 17:22 S09cryptdisks-early - ../init.d/cryptdisks-early lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 2009-04-11 17:22 S09module-init-tools - ../init.d/module-init-tools lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2009-04-11 17:22 S09mtab.sh - ../init.d/mtab.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S11cryptdisks - ../init.d/cryptdisks lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S12checkfs.sh - ../init.d/checkfs.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2009-04-11 17:22 S13mountall.sh - ../init.d/mountall.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 2009-04-11 17:22 S14mountall-bootclean.sh - ../init.d/mountall-bootclean.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2009-04-11 17:22 S14ufw - ../init.d/ufw lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2009-04-11 17:22 S15mountoverflowtmp - ../init.d/mountoverflowtmp lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2009-04-11 17:22 S15udev-finish - ../init.d/udev-finish lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S16lm-sensors - ../init.d/lm-sensors lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 2009-04-11 17:22 S16readahead-desktop - ../init.d/readahead-desktop lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S16resolvconf - ../init.d/resolvconf lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2009-04-11 17:22 S16urandom - ../init.d/urandom lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S16x11-common - ../init.d/x11-common lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S18networking - ../init.d/networking lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2009-04-11 17:22 S19portmap - ../init.d/portmap lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2009-04-11 17:22 S20nfs-common - ../init.d/nfs-common lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2009-04-11 17:22 S21mountnfs.sh - ../init.d/mountnfs.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 2009-04-11 17:22 S22mountnfs-bootclean.sh - ../init.d/mountnfs-bootclean.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 2009-04-11 17:22 S23console-screen.sh - ../init.d/console-screen.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2009-04-11 17:22 S24bootmisc.sh - ../init.d/bootmisc.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 2009-04-11 17:22 S24console-setup - ../init.d/console-setup lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 41 2009-04-11 17:22 S24linux-restricted-modules-common - ../init.d/linux-restricted-modules-common lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2009-04-11 17:22 S24schroot - ../init.d/schroot lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2009-04-11 17:22 S24screen-cleanup - ../init.d/screen-cleanup jar...@gandalf:/etc/rcS.d$ -- /dev/pts and /dev/shm not mounted on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
