[Bug 540056] Re: "Switch off" is not valid en_US
"Shut Down" instead of "Switch Off" is still ambiguous and unfamiliar. Instead of reverting back, take the opportunity to correct. What are you doing by selecting that option - asking the OS to close (just as you Close all applications when clicking the X) and the computer to power off. Thus, "Power Off" is by far the most logical and obvious phrase that should be used here. -- "Switch off" is not valid en_US https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/540056 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 356807] Re: rt_ioctl_giwscan log spam removal or fix
I agree with Martijn and am also seeing this on my Eee PC 1000HA with RaLink RT2860 wireless using WPA2 to my router. Interestingly, if my wireless connectivity is poor (ie. < approx 65%) I experience the 'lockups' and internet pauses with the connectivity regulsarly fluctuating between 30% and 80% with losses every ~2mins of network/internet connectivity. If I then move closer to my wireless router and have excellent (~95% + connectivity) then I still get the dmesg messages, but not the regular fluctuations in connectivity strength and network/internet loss. It's as though the rt2860 drivers drops the connection whenever the strength drops below 60%, if only momentarily, and then establishes a new connection. -- rt_ioctl_giwscan log spam removal or fix https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 352044] Re: Sync nvidia binary driver 180.44
Version: 180.44 Release Date: March 30, 2009 Release Highlights * Added support for the following GPUs: o Quadro FX 3800 o Quadro FX 3700M o Quadro FX 1800 o Quadro FX 580 o Quadro FX 380 o Quadro NVS 295 o GeForce GT 120 o GeForce G100 * Fixed a problem that could cause Xid errors and display corruption in certain cases when OpenGL is used to render to redirected windows, for example when Java2D is used with the -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true option. * Updated glGetStringi(GL_EXTENSIONS, i) to no longer return NULL in OpenGL 3.0 preview contexts. * Fixed OpenGL crashes while running KDE4's Plasma. * Fixed OpenGL crashes when using a large number of texture objects. * Fixed the timestamp reporting in the GL_NV_present_video extension on SDI II with Quadro FX 4800 and 5800. * Improved power management support on some systems, such as Hewlett-Packard xw4600 workstations. * Fixed a problem that caused the screen to flicker momentarily when OpenGL applications exit unexpectedly on GeForce 6 and 7 series GPUs. * Fixed an X server crash when an X client attempts to draw trapezoids and RenderAccel is disabled. * Improved recovery from certain types of errors. * Fixed a bug that caused Autodesk Maya to freeze when overlays are enabled. * Fixed an interaction problem between OpenGL and memory tracking libraries such as MicroQuill SmartHeap. * Added support for RG renderbuffers in OpenGL 3.0. * Added support for OpenGL 3.0 floating-point depth buffers. * Fixed a problem that caused Valgrind to crash when tracing a program that uses OpenGL. * Updated VDPAU to support VC-1/WMV acceleration on all GPUs supported by VDPAU; see the README for details. * Fixed VDPAU corruption on some H.264 clips. * Updated VDPAU documentation in the README and in vdpau.h, in particular regarding how to use the deinterlacing algorithms in the VdpVideoMixer object. Explicitly documented "half rate" deinterlacing, which should allow the advanced algorithms to run on more low-end systems. * Implemented a "skip chroma deinterlace" option in VDPAU, which should allow the advanced deinterlacing algorithms to run on more low-end systems. See vdpau.h. * Fixed VDPAU VC-1 decoding on 64-bit platforms. * Updated the VDPAU wrapper library to print dlerror() messages when driver loading problems occur. * Improved VDPAU's handling of some corrupt H.264 streams, and some corrupt/invalid MPEG streams on some GPUs. * Fixed VDPAU to correctly handle WMV "range reduction" on some GPUs. A minor backwards-compatible API change was made for this; see vdpau.h's documentation for structure field VdpPictureInfoVC1.rangered. * Fixed a problem that caused surfaces to be marked as visible too early when the blit presentation queue is in use. * Fixed VDPAU to prevent some cases of "display preemption" in the face of missing H.264 reference frames on some GPUs. -- Sync nvidia binary driver 180.44 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352044 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 271595] Re: Kernel 2.6.27-3 conflicts with "Logitech Audio Hub"
Thanks Christopher, that offers some great news for Jaunty. It also means that for Intrepid we should be able to edit /etc/pulse/default.pa and comment out the line for module-hal-detect, and insert a line for setting the Hz rate. Thus ... ### Load audio drivers statically (it's probably better to not load ### these drivers manually, but instead use module-hal-detect -- ### see below -- for doing this automatically) #load-module module-alsa-sink load-module module-alsa-sink device=front:1 rate=48000 #load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:1,0 #load-module module-oss device="/dev/dsp" sink_name=output source_name=input #load-module module-oss-mmap device="/dev/dsp" sink_name=output source_name=input #load-module module-null-sink #load-module module-pipe-sink ### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available #.ifexists module-hal-detect.so #load-module module-hal-detect #.else ### Alternatively use the static hardware detection module (for systems that ### lack HAL support) load-module module-detect #.endif Refer the bottom of http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Configuring_Sound_on_Linux/Pulse_Audio/Troubleshooting for the details/hint on setting the rate for front:1 (audiohub). Thanks Jim, much appreciated. I can confirm the amd64 kernel worked fine for me, with camorama working instantly. All other things/hardware worked as per 2.6.27-9-generic. I use/run nvidia (177.82) restricted/proprietary hardware drivers and these failed on the dkms when installing the kernel deb package, and thus the nvidia drivers did not load when I booted with your 2.6.27-11-generic. [Bug 178652] Re: No access to non-default sound format profiles
I am experiencing this problem on both Ubuntu Gutsy and Linux Mint. The profile editor seems to record changes to the text fields but does not show those changes in the available drop down menu. The MP3 profile is missing from the drop down on a fresh linux mint installation and wasn't available for use as of the first time sound juicer was launched. It was working on my Gutsy machine but one day it just disappeared from the available profile list. I used other ripping apps for a while and then one day I check sound juicer (weeks later) and there it was again. It worked for about two weeks then pulled another vanishing act. I tried editing one of the profiles that I knew was appearing in the available list to use MP3 settings, but that just caused it to disappear from the list just like the stock MP3 profile. Creating a brand new profile saved the profile in the setting manager but it does not appear in the list when trying to encode files. If I can provide any other info please let me know. I hope we can help you figure this out because sound juicer is the best I've used so far, thanks for the great work. -- No access to non-default sound format profiles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178652 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
