[Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank

2011-11-13 Thread Jason Bell
Small addition to the blank window situation... If I reduce the size of
the affected window gradually, the content eventually returns.
Unfortunately to get this to happen the window has to be way-below
optimum size and the problem comes back as soon as the window is
expanded beyond its threshold size. If I knew how to get the exact
dimensions of the window I could report the threshold limit which may be
useful, but I don't know how - sorry :'(

[Bug 687739] Re: Evolution errors on Launch but then seems to run ok but slowly

2011-06-06 Thread Jason Bell
It was so I gave up and did a clean (bare metal) installation of Natty.
That sorted it. so I'm afraid we will never know. Probably best to mark
this as completed but unsolved.

[Bug 779516] Re: Time & Date Settings not working after upgrade to 11.04

2011-06-03 Thread Jason Bell
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 751175 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/751175

Same here. Fresh Installation of 11.04 and no access via the indicator
panel or system settings tool.

The indicator panel applet does nothing but the spinner shows for a while when
I launch from the systems settings menu. However
I did manage to get it to launch from the Terminal by typing:

[sudo indicator-datetime-preferences]

but most of the options are greyed-out and the terminal window also
shows an error:

** (indicator-datetime-preferences:3138): WARNING **: Could not connect
to geoname lookup server: Operation not supported

Hope this helps move things forward

[Bug 687739] [NEW] Evolution errors on Launch but then seems to run ok but slowly

2010-12-09 Thread Jason Bell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution, when launched, causes a Gconf error.
As per instructions below...
1.) Release of Ubuntu:
Description:Ubuntu 10.10
Release:10.10

2.) Version of package:
evolution:
  Installed: 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.1
  Candidate: 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.1
  Version table:
 *** 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.1 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates/main i386
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 2.30.3-1ubuntu6 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages

3.) Expected a clean, fast opening of Evolution

4.) Got error message "Gconf error: Type mismatch Expected list, got string"
The program seems to run ok but is slower than I would expect and also it has
issues with accessing the contact databases in that it won't copy contacts from
Google to Local Couch DB Ubuntu on database. This second bit may be unrelated,
I'm not sure.

I hope this helps.
