I was having this 100% of the time since 11.04 upgrade in virtualbox. I
replaced GDM with LightDM and the issue has gone away.

[Bug 378156] Re: UNR Ath9K unstable connection

2009-10-28 Thread Jason Toffaletti
Not solved for me.

ii linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic 2.6.31-14.48
ii linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic2.6.31.14.27

# iwconfig wlan0

  Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point:
  Bit Rate=2 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm

I've seen bitrate 0, 1 Mb, 2Mb, but never the 54Mb it should be, unless
I manually set it, but even then I still don't get decent speeds and I
get the frequent dropped connections described in #414560.

[Bug 179755] Re: sorting function problem in OpenOffice Spreadsheet

2008-01-17 Thread Jason Toffaletti
I believe I was able to figure out how to do what you're looking for.
The sort data function depends on whether you've selected a column or a
row, so if you select the rows you want to sort before selecting
Data->Sort... from the menu, then I think it does the right thing. I've
attached a screencast for your viewing pleasure (try to ignore my mouse
randomly jumping around, there seems to be a bug with the vmware mouse
driver). Let me know if this is what you're looking for.

[Bug 179756] Re: inefficient closing of OpenOffice Word Processor

2008-01-17 Thread Jason Toffaletti
Hi Jules, Thanks for taking time to report this. I looked into this
using OpenOffice 2.3 on Hardy and found a way to do what you'd like.
Instead of closing the window, there is a little "X" in the top right
corner of the last OpenOffice window. It is worth noting that the X only
appears in one of the windows, the window that, if closed, will quit
OpenOffice. The File->Close menu also will only close the document and
not quit OpenOffice, leaving you with a grey window and no document
open, just like MS Word. Let me know if this works for you.

[Bug 180964] Re: python-uno: doc.dispose() crashes with "Fatal Python error: PyImport_GetModuleDict: no module dictionary!"

2008-01-17 Thread Jason Toffaletti
I talked to the Ubuntu openoffice maintainer and he suggested that most
bugs in the Uno API are due to openoffice being compiled with gcj
current, which doesn't provide the same level of java support as sun's
java compiler. This should change once openjava (icedtea) is used to
compile openoffice. This will likely happen in hardy or hardy+1.

[Bug 177114] Re: Openoffice toolbars have a confusing behavior when moved from default location

2008-01-16 Thread Jason Toffaletti
** Summary changed:

- Openoffice Writer toolbar don't stay in on screen
+ Openoffice toolbars have a confusing behavior when moved from default location

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

  Hi,

The toolbars on openoffice are behaving erratically and do not appear to
remember any settings. Example: if you change from drawing something.
such as a box, then decide to type something - the toolbar for the
formating disappear and reappear. This causes the whole screen to toggle
backwards and forwards, which makes it very hard to read or actually use
the tools. I am sure this could be classified as a feature - but really
  it is a bug.

  I am using Ubuntu 7.10 / openoffice 2.3 on AMD64.

Let me know if you need any more information,
  Thanks,

  James
+
+ TESTCASE
+
+ 1) Launch oodraw
+ 2) Select the "Line" tool
+ 3) Drag the "Line and Filling" (2nd toolbar from the top) to a new location.
+ 4) Select the "Text" tool. The "Line and Filling" toolbar will hide and the
"Text Formatting" toolbar will become visible. The "Text Formatting" toolbar
will be in the default location instead of the same location as the "Line and
Filling" toolbar. It appears to the user that the formatting toolbar has reset
its position.
+ 5) Select the "Line" tool again and the "Line and Filling" toolbar will
reappear in the location it was dragged to. The user now thinks the toolbar is
jumping around the screen erratically.

2008-01-16 Thread Jason Toffaletti
These are two different toolbars, one is "Line and Filling" and the
other is "Text Formatting". I agree the behavior is confusing though
because it appears that only one is ever shown and so they should share
the same position on the screen and act as one toolbar.

[Bug 145380] Re: pam_env should document per-user environment file ~/.pam_environment

is my text:

Users may set their own environment settings in the same format

[Bug 64064] Re: would be nice to add ~/bin to the default PATH

2008-01-15 Thread Jason Toffaletti
I'm taking a stab at resolving this and #145380. Some questions came up
after discussion in #ubuntu-motu:

1) Do we really want ~/bin in the PATH by default?
If so, should this be done in /etc/environment or /etc/skel/.pam_environment?
If not, we should get rid of it being added conditionally in /etc/skel/.profile?

2) If we don't want it by default when would we consider this resolved
if there was a UI in Users & Groups to add it to ~/.pam_environment?

exchange server.

[Bug 70533] crash after login to gdm

2006-11-05 Thread Jason Toffaletti
Public bug reported:

DanielHolbach requested that I report a new bug for this problem. I
previously posted information in bug #62297.

https://launchpad.net/products/evolution-exchange/+bug/62297/comments/8

"I'm having a similar problem, but my backtraces look a little different
so I'm attaching them also. I have evolution-alarm-notify starting on
gdm login so I can get notified of events in my calendar. However, after
every login bug buddy pops up to tell me evolution-exchange has crashed.
I think it is related because I see the same crash/hang behavior when I
open evolution and try to view my exchange calendar."

[Bug 59981] suspend makes network-manager say eth1 is a wired device

2006-09-11 Thread Jason Toffaletti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

I have a sony via vgn-s260 with an ipw2200 wireless device, running up-
to-date Edgy. When I wake my laptop from sleep, nm-applet shows eth1 as
a wired network. After a reboot, everything is back to normal. I also
discovered, if I kill NetworkManager, rmmod ipw2200, modprobe ipw2200,
then start NetworkManager, eth1 regains wireless status. The entire time
iwconfig shows eth1 as being a wireless device.
