[Bug 892873] [NEW] Error update-manager on Oneiric Ocelot

2011-11-20 Thread Jaume
Public bug reported:

When trying to running it, it starts to search for updates but then this
message error jumps: 'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header,
E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu
.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-security_main_i18n_Translation-en, E:No s'han
pogut analitzar o obrir les llistes de paquets o el fitxer d'estat.'

Wich means that the packages list or status files couldn't be opened or
parsed.

Thank you

Ubuntu 11.10
Release 11.10

I was unable to get the package

I report the bug because I was urged to do so by a "no way" signal on
the top of the screen of the desk

[Bug 1718658] Re: ecryptfs-mount-private fails to initialize ecryptfs keys

2018-05-02 Thread Jaume
Same as @stokito happened to me. Yesterday I upgraded to Kubuntu 18.04
via "do-release-upgrade" command from a previous install of Kubuntu
17.10 did some half a year ago. When I restart the system I see the
Kubuntu Plymouth start screen but then it never arrives to the login
screen (sddm). I can login normally in any of the tty's seeing my home
correctly decrypted but with these errors:

Could not find key with description: []
Could not find valid key in user session keyring for sig specified in mount
option: []
Error parsing options; rc = [-2]

Also tried the aforementioned workaround "ecryptfs-manager" but sddm
doesn't start either. Also tried installing lightdm with no luck.

[Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-05-03 Thread Jaume
Same problem here with a Dell XPS 15 9560 after Kubuntu 17.10 -> 18.04 upgrade.
Finally solved after lots of retries and reboots. I have now:
Graphics Drivers PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa)
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
- sudo apt update
- sudo apt dist-upgrade
Replaced manually nvidia 390 drivers by the newest 396
Purged nouveau package because I saw a "segmentation fault" log in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
- sudo apt purge xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
- sudo vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf -> uncomment line #Driver "nvidia" of Section
"Device". So my xorg.conf file is exactly the same as the pasted in comment #77
without the last Section "Monitor".
- sudo reboot

After the reboot I see my previous sddm login screen instead of a tty
and I can login normally :)

Re: [Bug 69125] Re: The program suddently crashed....

2006-10-31 Thread jaume
I must say that I'm working with a beta-release of the nVidia drivers.
Maybe that hacked the GTK components and Gimp payed the bill.

Thank you for your speed handling the (possible) bug.

No. My test.mp3 file wasn't working at all (any software).
I tested another mp3 file and it worked well from the very beginning (with

The problem is that I forgot to do the minimum test to discard that the problem
was related to the file itself.

[Bug 343749] Re: LSI SAS 1078 not detected when installing

2010-03-15 Thread Jaume Sabater
Unfortunately, I cannot try with a newer distribution of Ubuntu, as it's
a live database cluster. But I can confirm it's still happening with the
newest revision of the kernel of Ubuntu 8.10. I am very sorry, but I am
using PostgreSQL 8.3 in that cluster and newest Ubuntu version comes
with PostgreSQL 8.4. Not sure how the upgrade would go and I don't want
to use live machines as test machines.

We may rearrange a few things in that platform, so maybe in a few months
I may have availability of one of those machines and could try this.

Did you check with the guys at Red Hat or with Upstream? I saw that you
confirmed the bug.

[Bug 343749] Re: LSI SAS 1078 not detected when installing

2009-03-26 Thread Jaume Sabater
Managed to sort out the problem by booting both the installer and the
installed kernel 2.6.27-X with the parameter iommu=soft. iommu=off did
not work. Attached you'll find a lspci. Hope it helps. I've seen the
guys at Red Hat updated their kernel in Red Hat Enterprise 9 with a
workaround for this issue, which is related to MSI (IBM's Calgary
implementation) and not the disk controller by LSI.

[Bug 343749] [NEW] LSI SAS 1078 not detected when installing

2009-03-16 Thread Jaume Sabater
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.27

Trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 on an IBM 3950 M2 with:

- Chipset ICH7
- Integrated network card Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 Gigabit Eternet (rev 06)
- Network card Intel Pro/1000 PT 82571EB (4 ports)
- LSI Logic/Symbios Logic SAS 1078 PCI-Express Fusion MPT SAS (rev ff)

All devices appear correctly in an lspci command. During the install
process, only the Broadcom network card is detected, although the e1000e
driver is loaded. During the disk detection, no disks are found,
although the mptsas driver is loaded.

Here you are some information I manually copied from the screen of the

Same problem here. Dell Vostro 1520 with ubuntu 9.04 amd64

Solved downgrading to "0.5.12~rc1+git20090403-0ubuntu1".

With the downgrade Network-manager still shows wifi networks after
switching off but can't connect. Switching on again everything works
perfect.

With latest update "hal-0.5.12 --ubuntu3" killswitch don't do
anything (only leds turn on and off)

If I can do anything to help, contact me!

[Bug 394663] Re: "hal-system-smbios --st_wlan" reports rfkill switch always on, nm-applet always disabled (wireless, dell laptops)

2009-07-05 Thread Jaume Sala
Update "0.5.12~rc1+git20090403-0ubuntu4" installed.

Wireless now works but if I turn off the wireless connection with the
killswitch, network-manager informs me that the wireless connexion is no
more available (that's correct) but still shows all the wireless
networks like if my wireless card was still scanning... (that's not
correct but not so bad...)

Do you need more information? some kind of terminal outputs... Just tell
me what and how to obtain it and I will post the results here.

Sorry for the delay in this bug, I'm having other problems with this
computer, first grub started to loop at stage 1.5... (solved with
super grub disk [looks like WXP mess up the MBR]) second the keyboard
seems not to work if I turn on the computer without AC plugged in
(I've been very busy looking for a solution in this second bug)

[Bug 1712808] Re: udev interface fails in privileged containers

2021-12-13 Thread Jaume Sabater
As far as I have been able to test, you don't actually need to create
the /lib/modules directory but just run the command twice. At least that
is what I have been doing in unprivileged containers on Proxmox 7.1 with
the FUSE option activated:

~# apt install gnupg fuse squashfuse snapd

Shutdown container. Start again.

~# snap install core
error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Setup snap "core" (11993) security profiles (cannot reload udev rules: exit
status 1
udev output:

~# snap install core

1. Create an empty LXC (hostname: test) based on Proxmox's Debian 11 template
2. Configure locales, APT mirror and update packages. Reboot.
3. Shutdown LXC, activate Options: Features: FUSE, start container.
4. apt install gnupg fuse squashfuse snapd
5. Shut down container. Start container.
6. snap install core: error (cannot reload udev rules).
7. snap install core: installed fine.
8. snap install --classic certbot: installed fine.

Error log:

error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Setup snap "core" (11993) security profiles (cannot reload udev rules: exit
status 1
udev output:
Failed to send reload request: No such file or directory
)

Is there anything that can be done prior to executing "snap install
core" for the first time to prevent the error from happening?

Am I doing it wrong by installing snapd from the APT repo then using
"snap install core"?

Thanks in advance.

Binary package hint: linux-firmware

problema.

Gracias de antemano.
