[Bug 1864061] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected

2020-04-24 Thread javi
I have found the solution for me finally!

My conflict was with my home assistant installation when alsa and
pulseaudio were conflicting with hassio_audio container.

For anyone with the same problem you can refer to: https://community
.home-assistant.io/t/audio-not-working-after-installing-hass-io-in-
docker/178858/3

Thank you very much to everyone!

2020-04-21 Thread javi
Same problem with Ubuntu 19.10 Lenovo Ideapad 320-15IAP Kernel 5.3.0-46.

None of the proposed solutions have worked. Same problem with Dummy
Sound inside Gnome. I can see card and output with alsamixer.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1870489] Re: [UX390UAK, Realtek ALC295, Speaker, Internal] Sound is distorted

2020-04-05 Thread Javi
Hi, I have solved the problem following this:

1)

sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
add at end -> options snd-hda-intel model=auto
sudo restart

2) nano /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
and at end -> options snd-usb-audio nrpacks=1

3) nano /etc/pulse/system.pa and nano /etc/pulse/default.pa
change --> load-module module-udev-detect --->by --> load-module
module-udev-detect tsched=0

4) Follow this --->
http://iam.tj/prototype/enhancements/Windows-acpi_osi.html

Extract:

add --> acpi_osi=! "acpi_osi=Windows 2015"  -> in grub --> example:

linux /vmlinuz-4.13.0-16-lowlatency root=/dev/mapper/VG_OS-
ubuntu_16.04_rootfs ro acpi_osi=! "acpi_osi=Windows 2015" splash
$vt_handoff

  Hello,
I have installed ubuntu 18.04 LTS on my laptop Acer aspire E1-571 and I
cannot turn on the bluetooth. It's not that it doesn't find the devises, but I
do not either have the option to turn it on.
I've tried installing all drivers I have found (bluez gnome, blueman, shell
extension...), but the same issue remains.

It is no blocked either, I've tried "sudo rfkill list" in every
  modification and always the same:

[Bug 1591748] Re: Was Mercurial 3.8.3 accidentally placed in the 3.7.3 package?

2016-06-15 Thread Javi Merino
The hg that you found in /usr/local/bin/ was not installed by apt or
dpkg, you have installed it manually by downloading the sources and
running "make install". Just by renaming it you are not getting rid of
your local installation of mercurial. Have a look at
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages , you will probably find
mercurial and hgext directories there. Those are likely to be the ones
your /usr/bin/hg is importing and why it's getting so confused.

Try getting rid of what you installed in /usr/local (specially in
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mercurial* and hgext*) and use
only the packages provided by the distribution.

[Bug 1404035] Re: Errors in handling case-sensitive directories allow for remote code execution on pull

2014-12-26 Thread Javi Merino
Jamie, the problem you have is that the patch you've backported passes
"repo" as the first parameter to context.memfilectx() but in the
mercurial version that you have, context.memfilectx() only receives the
path and text. Just drop the "repo" argument in the tests as I've done
for Debian Wheezy[0] and they will run.

[0] http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/python-
apps/packages/mercurial/branches/wheezy/debian/patches/

This is not the best explanation ever, I'll send a patch later today.

[Bug 1404035] Re: Errors in handling case-sensitive directories allow for remote code execution on pull

2014-12-21 Thread Javi Merino
Jamie, I see in the changelog that you have applied this patches:

- http://selenic.com/repo/hg-stable/rev/885bd7c5c7e3
- http://selenic.com/repo/hg-stable/rev/c02a05cc6f5e
- http://selenic.com/repo/hg-stable/rev/7a5bcd471f2e
- http://selenic.com/repo/hg-stable/rev/6dad422ecc5a

Have you checked with upstream if those are the only patches needed?
Based on the release notes and the commit log I think you are right, but
it may be worth double-checking with upstream.

[Bug 1236120] Re: Cups-pdf Prints Blank Page

2013-12-04 Thread Javi
Hi,

I confim same behaviour running kubuntu 13.10, clean install.
I was not able to log in to cups via http://localhost:631
I was not able to get any working credentials. I tried lppasswd -a user,
lppasswd -a root, etc. None worked.

I was finally able to do the workaround using system-preferences->select
printer-> PDF ->select driver,
then providing the suggested /usr/share/ppd/cups-pdf/CUPS-PDF.ppd file.

Workaround fixes this.

[Bug 789123] Re: Eclipse crashes/quits without any error messages

2011-07-18 Thread Javi Molina
I can confirm that #23 solves crashing in Eclipse (STS 2.7.1 in my case)
in Natty.

I had at least two crashes a day before using the workaround. Since
yesterday no more crashes.

I second the opinion this bug needs to be assigned to overlay-scrollbar
instead.

I can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 10.04 after performing the last

version. My kernel version is Linux 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Thu
Jun 3 19:31:57 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I do not have any problem with NTFS (via ntfs-3g) but I have it with
FAT32 or EXT2/3. I test this issue with different usb memory sticks and
external hard drives.

[Bug 285892] Re: ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x807f SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen

2009-12-27 Thread javi
Attention: a not simple workaround has been found for some of us
(specially Samsung hard disk/bios users), look at this link:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samsung_N140

Please, kernel developers of Ubuntu, insert these workarounds in the
next kernel version:

Here I copy the relevant parts:

---
Possible BIOS problem causes a SATA hardreset shortly after boot. This is
unresolved up to Samsung N140 BIOS 04CU, and Samsung N130 BIOS 05CM, although a
kernel patch is being investigated. See
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14314,
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13416,
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0908.2/02809.html and
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0911.3/01604.html .
A summary of the status as currently understood:
About 5 minutes after boot or resume, the BIOS switches on some power saving
features which were not enabled at boot. It enables additional (sleepier)
processor C-states, and sends power management instructions to the HDD. It does
these behind the operating system's back -- not using ACPI, which would be
handled correctly by Linux. Instead the sudden change results in a SATA
exception at the first disk access following the switch. At that point the SATA
driver resets the disk to resolve the problem. The result: the user sees a
complete system freeze for about 30 seconds, after which operation of the
machine continues normally. This can occur during the periodic fsck at boot if
it is running at switch time. Either Samsung needs to be convinced to fix the
BIOS, or the Linux kernel needs to be modified to behave more gracefully
(Windows doesn't freeze noticeably if at all).
It has been reported that some OpenSUSE kernels [1] do not freeze and testing
is progress in the Arch Forums. The patch libata-ata_piix-clear-spurious-IRQ
has been reported to resolve the freezing problem. (Hint: to look at the rpm
use rpmextract, and then untar config.tar.bz2 and patches.*.tar.bz2).
There is a kernel patch available which changes the backlight brightness using
SMI instead of poking PCI config space. It provides a kernel module called
"samsung-laptop". Interestingly a special (as yet unreleased?) BIOS for the
N130 can be informed that the OS is Linux by a version of this patch which is
included in OpenSUSE 11.1. The effect of this hasn't been published.
The N140 and N130 BIOSes have Phoenix FailSafe (you have been warned). It's not
clear if the SATA problem has any relation to this.
Version 01CM of the N130 BIOS has been reported to not cause freezes, unlike
all later ones which do.
This problem is hazardous for your filesystem so take precautions. For example
use ext3 (not ext4) with option data=journal and install backup software.

j00lz, that's not a workaround for "human beings".

Please, just include usbserial as a module. I can't undersatant why you
are hesitant about that.

[Bug 258795] Re: usbserial not working

2009-04-02 Thread javi
Not including usbserial as a module, just breaks several kind of 3G
modems to correctly works. I can say at least two of them that just
didn't work for me: Toshiba G450 (need to pass parameters), and Huawei
e220 (must me plugged before the system is started, if not, it switch
USBtty0 and USBtty1 and does not work).

Please, include usbserial as a module. If not, Jaunty will be a severe
regresion for thousands of users unable to use their modems!!

Thank you.

[Bug 347754] Re: FATAL: Module usbserial not found

2009-04-02 Thread javi
>>> Thank you for taking the time to make Ubuntu better. Please give us
the kernel version you are using be posting the output of 'uname -a' .
If you mean 2.6.28 then in 2.6.28-11-generic (and previous versions
afaik) usbserial is compiled into the kernel and cannot be un- / loaded
with modprobe any more. You'll have to use the submodules.

This is not going to work for a lot of users, as some 3G need to pass module
options, and will just broke 3G connections for thousand of users. Please,
include usbserial as a module, there are several bug reports opened related to
this, and you can expect more and more people complaining as they download 9.04
and discover that his connections just doesn't work.

[Bug 350904] Re: usbserial.ko missing in Jaunty

2009-04-02 Thread javi
I completely agree.
And not only that: the most common 3G modem out there, the Huawei e220, happens
to have several errors in Ubuntu 9.04.
First, it is not able to show coberture. Second, it does not work if the modem
is not connected when starting the system.

PLEASE, include usbserial as a MODULE. Lot of users using 3G will
complain if you don't.

Thank you.

2009-02-13 Thread Javi Fontan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: opennebula

OpenNebula uses ruby to gather information from the nodes. It reates a

ruby 1.8 is not installed in that node it can not get information about
memory and CPU consumption. Adding ruby dependency to this package

Does this thread bring any light to the problem?

Anyway, we are about to reengineer the drivers so it is a good time to
take care of that problems. We will take a look to this ticket.

[Bug 77467] external serial modem don't work (but does work on other linuxes)

2007-01-03 Thread javi
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 6.10:

When going to System -> Administration -> Networking and trying to
configure an external modem (not winmodem) it simply don't work at all.

When I try to run "sudo pppconfig" it does not even recognize it.

The modem works perfectly with other Linuxes, and does not require a
driver, as it is directly connected to the RS232 port. I've been using
this modem for years with Linux without problem. I tryed it tonight with
Suse and works perfectly.

There seems to be also more people with this problem, according to this
page:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/HardwareModem

The modem do work well with 6.06, so this seems to be a 6.10 issue.
