[Bug 975197] Re: Can't avoid mounting in boot time

2013-12-29 Thread Javier Domingo
Hi Christopher,

I am no longer using Ubuntu, and I am neither using such feature, so I
can't say it's or not reproducible. It's been nearly 2 years since I had
it, so can't say anything now about it.

Cheers,

Re: [Bug 745505] Re: [138a:0007] VFS451 fingerprint reader not recognized

2013-11-24 Thread Javier Domingo
As I said before, in order to get this fixed, either the developer would
need to have physically the device, or someone with development skills
should reverse engineer how the device works, document it, and send it to
the author.

Cheers,

Hi Javier,

could you redirect them to fd.o bugzilla?

Anyway, I really doubt that I can do anything without hardware at the hand,
but I can guide someone who's willing to develop
a driver and has vfs451 reader.

Regards
Vasily

I am so sorry, I am currently unable to provide traces as specified. If

I hope be able to have time to do the traces in April but can't promise

[Bug 1062758] [NEW] In text installation select and install programs menu needs improvement

2012-10-06 Thread Javier Domingo
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I make a lot of installations via netboot, and I have started to realize
that the step in which you have to select some meta-packages (i.e. Basic
Server Install or LXDE Desktop Minimal Installation), makes quite
difficult to install ubuntu at the first go.

Those menus are not intuitive, as if you select Ubuntu Gnome desktop and
Kubuntu Full installation (for example), the install will crash. Same
thing happens with Kubuntu-full and Kubuntu-desktop installs.

I don't know what is this due to, as for me, selecting in apt command
kubuntu-full and kubuntu-desktop at the same time doesn't crash. The
fact is that it does.

I have tested this recently with 12.04, but I am almost sure it has been
a bug over the last (at least) 2 years.

Cheers,

Txomon

It is currently working alright, but the light button has strange
behaviour (I think it changes color when it is being used).

It maybe has other dysfunctions, but I am not touching the button
because I need wifi to work. I am going to try now testing the upstream
kernel.

Sorry, I have misunderstood the man. I didn't understand that the
configuration from resolv.conf was taken depending on the parameters. It
uses just the servers in resolv.conf by default, not the entire

[Bug 981537] [NEW] bash doesn't record in .bash_history when comand has an space before

2012-04-14 Thread Javier Domingo
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I don't have intention to make it be fixed (it is interesting to not
have it reflected in bash_history), just to be documented.

if you run for example " ssh localhost" with no quotes and having that
space at beggining, you wont be able to put it again by using arrow
keys, nor will appear in your .bash_history.

It is a petition to be documented such function, I think it is an
interesting feature.

[Bug 975197] Re: Can't avoid mounting in boot time

2012-04-06 Thread Javier Domingo
Now at the moment I don't have access to the computer, and it doesn't
really need logs, just the fstab entry, something like this:

//192.168.44.100/share   /path_to/mount   cifs
username=server_user,password=secret,_netdev   0 0

You can replicate it anywhere. BTW, there is no way to get access to
change the fstab file, neither in recovery mode, so If you want to test
it, have prepared a live CD to change it.

something in the computer. And as I didn't had any response in a

[Bug 919660] [NEW] bootp doesn't have an updated man/xinetd boot script

2012-01-21 Thread Javier Domingo
Public bug reported:

I am installing bootp, but it doesn't have a proper configuration. the
documentation referst to inetd.conf, but the actual update-inetd says
xinetd is not fully supported.

Running: sudo update-inetd --add
"bootps\tdgram\tudp\twait\troot\t/usr/sbin/bootpd\tbootpd\tbootptab"
which is in the manual doesn't work, as inetd.conf is not being
currently used in standard installations.

If you want it to use inetd.conf you have to set UPDATE_INETD_NOXINETD,
which is not reflected in update-inet man, nor --help option. (This is
another bug). And although I haven't tried, it should work (I had a look
into the update-inetd code).

I would propose:
a) Update the bootpd man page to reflect the entry needed in xinetd.conf
(thought looking at the other examples might be easy to do)
b) Create a file /etc/xinetd.d/bootpd with the usual configuration parameters,
or give an option at install time to create it.

I may say that this is because tftpd installed xinetd, but as it can be a usual
application to use in PXE netboot, this case should be considered

[Bug 827627] Re: apt should be able to use an opportunistic cache/proxy

2012-01-18 Thread Javier Domingo
that relies on an avahi implementation. I am using a much more simpler
proxy, less dependant on other packages, apt-cacher-ng. There is a bug
onto this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid-deb-
proxy/+bug/529897

The main problem for me is that I don't rely in other servers than mine,
so I just want my mirror or nothing. Auto-detecting proxies wouldn't
give me that option.

[Bug 827627] Re: apt should be able to use an opportunistic cache/proxy

2012-01-18 Thread Javier Domingo
Hi, I would like to reopen this bug, as that package trusts any source
it publishes itself as a proxy apt_mirror. I would like to see the
optional caché feature implemented in apt, so that if we have something
like apt-cacher-ng, we can rely that our computer will be updated
thought it might not be available.

In the way of making just one optional proxy, I don't like trusting any
server said to be a mirror, just mine or the official ones.

It would be nice to see this feature like configuring in
/etc/apt/apt.conf an optional proxy like this:

Acquire::http::Proxy::Optional "http://192.168.2.233:3142";;

[Bug 913583] Re: Gnome-shell not storing any config

2012-01-13 Thread Javier Domingo
Not fixing the problem. More over, If I uninstall firefox shotwell
empathy and epiphany, it uninstalls gnome core. Please, seriouly review
which are the dependencies of the packets, and try using minimal
installations to just install one packet, and see how it behaves, I know
that the default config is tested. But, packages under gnome* in the
ubuntu archives have them all mixed up.

I will nearly for sure reinstall, with the default config, and then take
things out. Or maybe change to debian, and see how gnome-shell behaves
by installing it from 0, but I suppose it will at the end finish the
same way.

Who creates the dependencies? Is any gnome guy, or just a random
packager?

I can't find that packet in the ubuntu archives. and if you refer to
dconf-gsettings-backend I already have it installed.

[Bug 913929] [NEW] Get back recently closed tabs

2012-01-09 Thread Javier Domingo
Public bug reported:

Hi, I know chrome changed this, but I really don't use those tabs you
put in the "New tab window". It is not very functional, changing from
one menu to another is just slow, and having as a main tab, a screen
whose content you can't change, its just annoying.

Regards,

Javier Domingo
