[Bug 1062758] [NEW] In text installation select and install programs menu needs improvement
Public bug reported: Hi, I make a lot of installations via netboot, and I have started to realize that the step in which you have to select some meta-packages (i.e. Basic Server Install or LXDE Desktop Minimal Installation), makes quite difficult to install ubuntu at the first go. Those menus are not intuitive, as if you select Ubuntu Gnome desktop and Kubuntu Full installation (for example), the install will crash. Same thing happens with Kubuntu-full and Kubuntu-desktop installs. I don't know what is this due to, as for me, selecting in apt command kubuntu-full and kubuntu-desktop at the same time doesn't crash. The fact is that it does. I have tested this recently with 12.04, but I am almost sure it has been a bug over the last (at least) 2 years. [Bug 981537] [NEW] bash doesn't record in .bash_history when comand has an space before
Public bug reported: Hi, I don't have intention to make it be fixed (it is interesting to not have it reflected in bash_history), just to be documented. if you run for example " ssh localhost" with no quotes and having that space at beggining, you wont be able to put it again by using arrow keys, nor will appear in your .bash_history. [Bug 919660] [NEW] bootp doesn't have an updated man/xinetd boot script
Public bug reported: I am installing bootp, but it doesn't have a proper configuration. the documentation referst to inetd.conf, but the actual update-inetd says xinetd is not fully supported. Running: sudo update-inetd --add "bootps\tdgram\tudp\twait\troot\t/usr/sbin/bootpd\tbootpd\tbootptab" which is in the manual doesn't work, as inetd.conf is not being currently used in standard installations. If you want it to use inetd.conf you have to set UPDATE_INETD_NOXINETD, which is not reflected in update-inet man, nor --help option. (This is another bug). And although I haven't tried, it should work (I had a look into the update-inetd code). I would propose: a) Update the bootpd man page to reflect the entry needed in xinetd.conf (thought looking at the other examples might be easy to do) b) Create a file /etc/xinetd.d/bootpd with the usual configuration parameters, or give an option at install time to create it. I may say that this is because tftpd installed xinetd, but as it can be a usual application to use in PXE netboot, this case should be considered ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: bootp 2.4.3-18 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-14.23-generic 3.0.9 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-14-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Jan 21 14:36:38 2012 SourcePackage: bootp UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: bootp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: update-inetd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oneiric precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919660 Title: bootp doesn't have an updated man/xinetd boot script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bootp/+bug/919660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 827627] Re: apt should be able to use an opportunistic cache/proxy
that relies on an avahi implementation. I am using a much more simpler proxy, less dependant on other packages, apt-cacher-ng. There is a bug onto this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid-deb- proxy/+bug/529897 The main problem for me is that I don't rely in other servers than mine, so I just want my mirror or nothing. [Bug 827627] Re: apt should be able to use an opportunistic cache/proxy
Hi, I would like to reopen this bug, as that package trusts any source it publishes itself as a proxy apt_mirror. I would like to see the optional caché feature implemented in apt, so that if we have something like apt-cacher-ng, we can rely that our computer will be updated thought it might not be available. In the way of making just one optional proxy, I don't like trusting any server said to be a mirror, just mine or the official ones. It would be nice to see this feature like configuring in /etc/apt/apt.conf an optional proxy like this: Acquire::http::Proxy::Optional "http://192.168.2.233:3142";; ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827627 Title: apt should be able to use an opportunistic cache/proxy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/827627/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 913583] Re: Gnome-shell not storing any config
Not fixing the problem. More over, If I uninstall firefox shotwell empathy and epiphany, it uninstalls gnome core. Please, seriouly review which are the dependencies of the packets, and try using minimal installations to just install one packet, and see how it behaves, I know that the default config is tested. But, packages under gnome* in the ubuntu archives have them all mixed up. I will nearly for sure reinstall, with the default config, and then take things out. Or maybe change to debian, and see how gnome-shell behaves by installing it from 0, but I suppose it will at the end finish the same way. Who creates the dependencies?
