The key is /org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options which has to

KP_SEPARATOR with AltGr)

[Bug 504235] [NEW] fontconfig strange selection

2010-01-07 Thread Jean-Marc Bourguet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fontconfig

I've the Adobe Type 1 "basic types" package which includes Helvetica and
Helvetica Narrow fonts.

I think I've installed them correctly:
$ fc-list | grep Helveti
Helvetica:style=Narrow Bold
Helvetica:style=Oblique
Helvetica:style=Narrow
Helvetica:style=Bold
Helvetica:style=Narrow Oblique
Helvetica:style=Regular
Helvetica:style=Narrow Bold Oblique
Helvetica:style=Bold Oblique

but

$ fc-match Helvetica:Oblique
hvno.pfb: "Helvetica" "Narrow Oblique"

I'd have expected hvo__.pfb, "Hevetica" "Oblique". And worse, fc-
match -s doesn't even present the correct result in its list.

[Bug 187540] Re: Gnome-panel freeze when 8 windows are open when the panel is vertical/"non-expanded horizontal"

will add in the minor direction (rows for horizontal task list, columns
for vertical one) when too constrained.

[Bug 187540] Re: Gnome-panel freeze when 8 windows are open when the panel is vertical/"non-expanded horizontal"

2009-12-30 Thread Jean-Marc Bourguet
Here is another patch.

It tries to attack the root cause of the problem: the window list doesn't
handle vertical layout as such but as a case of tall and narrow horizontal
layout. So I've:
- added indication of the orientation,
- passed the orientation from the applet,
- modified the computation of the layout using the orientation (in some place I
test the orientation and duplicate the computation mutatis mutandis)

There is still work to do. For instance if you want a wide vertical
patch, with my patch it doesn't use more than one column even when it
would be better to do so.

[Bug 187540] Re: Gnome-panel freeze when 8 windows are open when the panel is vertical/"non-expanded horizontal"

2009-12-25 Thread Jean-Marc Bourguet
I'm affected to (new laptop with wide screen and I cry for vertical
space). The main reason I'm adding a comment is to mention that the
"Window Selector (switch between open windows using a menu)" panel
applet isn't affect (it's probably obvious for some, but perhaps not
for all people affected). But its use is less convenient.

For the benefit of thoose doing a search because they have the same
issue, I think I've tracked the issue. At least with a 2.6.21 kernel,
having PEA enabled and AGP_INTEL enabled seem incompatible with the
mother board.

It's probably also the reason for which I'm unable to install Ubuntu 64

I've tried with -15.25, and as I expected I get the same result: generic
version works and server freeze during boot. I've not remade my

the same: PAE.

[Bug 106313] Kernel 2.6.20-14-server Freeze on boot

2007-04-13 Thread Jean-Marc Bourguet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-14-server

Booting the generic version doesn't freeze. The last thing updated is
usually something like

[ 11.996106] agpgart: Detected an Intel 965G Chipset.

but sometimes it is different. Compiling myself a kernel, it looks like
what trigger the freeze is activation of PEA. I've tried to activate
the debug highmem option, I then get very rapidly (nearly at the start
of the boot) endless reports which scroll too quickly to catch anything.

I'm able to boot a kernel 2.6.15 with PEA enabled.

I'll join dmesg report from the kernel 2.6.16 with PEA enabled and from
booting a kernel 2.6.20 without PEA.

Hardware: Mother board P5B-Deluxe, Core 2 Duo 6600.

If you need anything else, just ask.

2006-10-17 Thread Jean-Marc Bourguet
Paul,

Could you please state which information is incomplete or outdated?

About trying the Edgy version... well do you think to something which
was fixed and could be relevant or is it just a random shot? If I do it
and it doesn't work, would you just drop the issue or try to fix it? In
the later case, I'll just wait until I need to upgrade, and that could
well be after I got another computer.

Don't misinterpret me, I don't mind doing some investigation if it help
to fix the issue, but I don't see the utility of just trying another
version for the sake of trying another version: my system works as it
is, and I don't need anything present in later version of grub.
