Instead of restarting the panel, what I'm doing is disable and re-enable automatic hiding to correct the background color. So that's what's causing the problem. I guess we can agree that this is not an installer bug but a hardware error. If yes, I'll convert this to a question and request you to mark it as closed. On the other hand, you can still check the erratic hard drive for bad blocks using this command: sudo badblocks -n -v /dev/sdx (sda1, etc). Hi Pedro, my notebook is already running Oneiric Ocelot. I am still having a problem with screen brightness after resuming from idle mode, closing the lid or start/restart. It does not remember the brightness level that's why I need to adjust it every time. I am currently following this thread of bug #568611 and has already applied Kamal Mostafa's PPA/patch. This fix works on my notebook, however, I noticed two things: 1. Whenever I start my computer, the brightness is at its maximum. It does not remember the last settings. 2. When my computer resumes from idle mode, the screen is not turned off, instead, brightness is at its lowest. How do I fix it? Thank you Kamal (and everyone) for continuously providing help and solution for this issue. I have one quick question. Although I don't think it's proper to post it here but I assume it's related to the kernel I applied via the PPA. Since installing it, my wireless is disabled and could not be activated (as seen in the screenshot) even when I press the Wifi button. I am using HP Pavilion dv3t, Intel. I don't remember the changes I made but if anyone could help me figure out which, it would be very much appreciated. Maximize the newly created window and try to drag back the tab to the original group. When you try to move a tab either to the left or to the right, it instead creates a new window. The only way to move it back is to click the Restore window control button of the original window to unmaximize it and then drag the tab (that was apparently removed from it) to it. However, this did not occur when it was tested on a Lubuntu machine with the same daily (stable) build.
