I have this problem. Isn't there a method to bypass it?

[Bug 326817] [NEW] font change while using an application

2009-02-08 Thread jeko
Public bug reported:

Hello everyone,

since I set up Hardy Heron on my computer I've problems with this
strange bug: While using any application (Firefox, Pidgin, Geany,
Thunderbird) it happens, that the font mysteriously changes while I'm
typing. In the most application where this error occured I had to close
the whole application to rid of the font, Geany (Texteditor) as an
exception works when I just close the tab an opened file and reopen it.

I couldn't find any pattern or typical circumstances when this error
occurs, it's just when I'm typing. I thought of how to report this bug
and began to make Screenshots whenever it occurred. I hope you can see
some pattern or the cause of this problem...

Greetings from Switzerland,

Dominique

Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04, GNOME

I found the cause for this bug... I accidently press Spacebar + Shift
which causes the switch of the font - i'm sorry!

[Bug 190414] Re: Clocksource tsc unstable add 10 seconds to the boot time.

2009-01-15 Thread jeko
Hello,

i got the same problem in my boot process. The message Clocksource tsc
unstable blocked the booting for about 100 seconds and I had 2-3 else
pauses after this... But I could solve the problem with a strange
solution: I put the parameter

clocksource=tsc

Line in menu.lst:
kernel  /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-9-generic
root=UUID=c6b5a1de-ce34-4618-b933-064490a2308e ro clocksource=tsc

and I had no pauses, instead of having 5-10 Minutes to boot I do now
have 1 Minute or less. Maybe this makes no sense, but I encourage all of
you who have this problem to try it out and report here if it worked...

Working with intrepid ipex.

I've got two logs attached, one before i made clocksource=tsc and one
after it...

Hope it helps,
Dominique S.
