[Bug 421048] Re: Black dots appear on screen

2013-03-24 Thread Jens Lehmann
I had exactly the same problem constantly since several years with
different Ubuntu versions and different nvidia drivers.

After adding agp=off to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in the grub
config the strange black dots problem is completely gone! :-)

...maybe this helps someone too.

[Bug 1033148] Re: [mpeg2enc] display_horizontal_size must be in range 0...16383

2013-01-20 Thread Jens Lehmann
This is in fact a annoying misbehaviour. Fixing the
display_horizontal_size bug as Jochen suggests would be highly
appreciated!

[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2010-04-16 Thread Jens Lehmann
Now confirmed on Ubuntu 10.04 and Kubuntu 10.04. So it is probably
independent of KDE/Gnome. Switching users also helps in my case, but
only for a few seconds. One of the most annoying bugs ever.

[Bug 382768] [NEW] Dolphin slow when copying remote files

2009-06-02 Thread Jens Lehmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dolphin

Dolphin package: latest version (4:4.2.2-0ubuntu4) in Kubuntu 9.04

Dolphin is very slow when copying remote files over SSH. To reproduce
the problem, connect to a server via SSH, then look for a larger file.
Copy this file from one directory to a temporary directory using
Dolphin. After that repeat the same process, but this time logging into
the server on the command line and executing a "cp" command on the
server. It can be observed that Dolphin is much slower. (Maybe, it
downloads the file on the local computer and uploads it again?)

[Bug 382767] [NEW] Dolphin slow when deleting/copying/moving small files/directories

2009-06-02 Thread Jens Lehmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dolphin

Dolphin package: latest version (4:4.2.2-0ubuntu4) in Kubuntu 9.04

Dolphin is very slow when performing file operations with a large number
of small files or directories. To reproduce the problem, copy one of
your folders with many small files to a temporary directory and delete
it with Dolphin. Then copy the folder again and delete it using "rm -rf"
on the command line. There is an order of magnitude difference between
both.

[Bug 47564] Re: closes when scrolling

2009-01-10 Thread Jens Lehmann
I probably get something similar on Kubuntu 8.10. Firefox crashes
randomly when scrolling a website. This is very annoying. I could get
the following output when starting firefox on the command line:

> app-startupICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG = (null)

QPixmap: Invalid pixmap parameters

The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error.

This probably reflects a bug in the program.

The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.

  (Details: serial 671596 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)

  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;

that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.

To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line

option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful

backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 205957] Re: No Sound in Freeciv 2.1.3 SDL client

2008-03-24 Thread Jens Lehmann
After actually starting a game, I found out that sound does work when
moving units. I still wonder why the sound menu is grayed out, but there
does not actually seem to be a general sound system problem in my case.
(Maybe only some sound events are working as your error messages
indicate.)

It can still be confusing for users, because there is no music/sound
when starting the SDL client and options cannot be set (don't know
whether/which sound options exist).

[Bug 205957] [NEW] No Sound in Freeciv 2.1.3

2008-03-24 Thread Jens Lehmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: freeciv

When using freeciv in hardy (usually I use gutsy with a few exceptions),
sound does not work. When starting freeciv the "sound options" button is
grayed out indicating that sound is not available. I installed the
following packages:

freeciv-server 2.1.3-1
freeciv-client-sdl 2.1.3-1
freeciv-sound-standard 2.1.3-1
freeciv-data 2.1.3-1

So, the standard sound package is correctly installed, but I get neither
sound nor any relevant message on the command line pointing me to
anything which could be wrong. I also tried to set
default_sound_plugin_name="sdl" in .civclientrc, but this didn't change
anything.
