[Bug 674138] Re: "Global" appmenu breaks sloppy focus

2013-01-08 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Gnome-shell uses a "dwell" timeout that works very well for this.

Your mouse has to sit on a window without moving for (iirc) 20 ms. It's
long enough that I've never hit it accidentally, but short enough that
you almost never notice it.

When switching versions, are you guys making sure to reboot, or at
least kill the wpa_supplicant process?

If you're not, you're still testing the version from before you
upgraded, not the new one.

Sadly, I still seem to be hitting this issue under quantal. Downgrading

problem. So I think marking this "Fix Released" for wpa may be
premature.

nLinked's comment is largely irrelevant to this defect, he just turned on

[Bug 787465] Re: View->Show MenuBar isn't working in 11.04 and later in gnome-terminal

2011-10-21 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Whether there's a global menu or not, when "show menubar" is disabled,
there should not be a menubar *inside* the gnome-terminal window. Right
now, when there is no global menu, AND the terminal is configured to not
have a menubar, it'll have one until it's toggled twice.

You could argue that the option should not be displayed when that
menubar would go to the global menu. But when it's not, it shouldn't
interfere with or override gnome-terminal's logic about whether or not
to display a menu.

[Bug 40189] Re: autofs needs to be restarted to pick up some shares

2011-07-05 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Is this an Ubuntu bug? Is there a configuration problem in Ubuntu?
Upstart problem? Or is it an upstream issue? This has been kicking
around for over 5 years now.

How does the workaround in post #25 work? It seems like that would start
autofs as soon as any network device comes up, when what you'd want to
do is only bring it up when a non-loopback device comes up. so I'd
expect the original version to work better than the workaround.

[Bug 772111] [NEW] Rotation while composite enabled results in garbage on smaller of 2 displays

2011-04-27 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

On natty, Running xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.14.0-0ubuntu4

I have a 1680x1050 display and a 1440x900 display. I'm trying to get the
smaller one into portrait mode.

It works fine normally, but with compiz or gnome-shell (and xcompmgr iirc), the
smaller display (whether it's primary or secondary) just looks like static,
that varies a bit based on what's getting displayed on either.

Screenshot looks normal.

2011-03-09 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
So it doesn't get lost...

This bug is blocking https://bugs.launchpad.net/null/+bug/474906 , which
is intended to make xchat-gnome and xchat behave more like empathy,
"closing" to the messaging menu.

The attached patch for this and the attached patch for 474906 makes the
problem go away in xchat-gnome.

[Bug 521492] Re: Dual Monitor wallpaper is not scaling across both monitors, same background is repeated on both monitors instead

2011-03-04 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Hmm. Span does seem to work in this case at least. I definitely would
have expected Tile to work correctly as well, but it doesn't. Anyways,
here's a datapoint which should probably be considered.

(For the record, that horrendous ascii-art was supposed to reflect a
1680x1050 monitor and a 900x1440 monitor (portrait mode))

[Bug 521492] Re: Dual Monitor wallpaper is not scaling across both monitors, same background is repeated on both monitors instead

2011-03-04 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
I'm in a dual-monitor setup, with different resolutions on each. Right
now, I'm having trouble just creating a background that can work
correctly without scaling on both. My layout

<-- 1680 -> <- 900 ->
|^ ^ |
||   |  |
|1050 1440 |
||   |  |
|---V | |
V--

(excuse the bad ascii art :) )

It seems to me in this configuration, I should be able to create a
background that's 2580x1440, and have it just sit correctly there. Do
any of the configurations/patches available here allow this as a
functional workaround for this issue?

Re: [Bug 671953] Re: Scales poorly on vertical panel with high-dpi display

2011-02-14 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Maybe it's hard to see. The text there is just big enough to be readable. As
a result, the icons are almost invisible, and certainly impossible to make
out detail in (like the volume setting). The "power" button is particularly
bad, and is almost impossible to find and subsequently hit, when it's just a
tiny fraction of an inch in size.

[Bug 436755] Re: indicator-applet doesn't change icon when I recieve new e-mails via Evolution

2010-12-10 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
I appear to be seeing this issue with Evolution and an Exchange server
under 10.10, indicator 0.2.8-0ubuntu1, evolution 2.28.3-0ubuntu10.

New (unread) messages in an exchange account exist, but the messaging
menu shows '0' for the message count on the account, and the main
messaging-menu indicator icon doesn't indicate anything needing
attention.

Different issue, or duplicate of this?

[Bug 688671] [NEW] Indicator doesn't show new mail for exchange account

2010-12-10 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

New (unread) messages in an exchange account exist, but the messaging
menu shows '0' for the message count on the account, and the main
messaging-menu indicator icon doesn't indicate anything needing
attention.

A notify-old bubble does pop up when the mail comes in, but nothing
changes on the messaging menu.

[Bug 682252] [NEW] Evince opens PDFs completely above screen, not listed in task-list or alt-tab

2010-11-27 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

The first time I open any PDF file, evince always opens completely above
the screen. The only way I can get at it is to hit alt-space to get a
window menu, then move the window down. Evince doesn't show up in the
task/window-list on the bottom of the screen, and can't be reached via
alt-tab.

Killing evince, and opening the PDF a second time displays it properly.

Deleting ~/.gnome2/evince didn't help.

Running compiz in Ubuntu Maverick.

[Bug 334809] Re: design problem? infinite wait for long queue

2010-11-27 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Patch for xchat-gnome to use append.

Question though for notify-osd developers: Is there any scenario where
appending ISN'T the right behavior? Is it a common case?

Since the normal behavior of upstream's notification-daemon is to add
another notification for each notification, it seems that appending as
the default would be the closest to "normal" behavior. In the odd case
where one wouldn't want append, maybe an opt-out hint ("x-canonical-no-
append"?) could be specified.

The "grub options" are really just to pass parameters to the Linux kernel.
Those parameters persist until the kernel is shutdown, so they can have an
effect on suspend/resume.
