Hi Robin,

I can't seem to be able to open a classic terminal, i.e. one that looks
like a DOS window in Windows?

Typing the command in the Applications Window top line doesn't seem to
do anything. My home directory doesn't have it.

I assume that the ~ symbol means Home Directory?

Help!!

Thanks,

Jeremy.

 In a terminal, type

 tar cfz ~/upgrade-log.tar.gz /var/log/dist-upgrade/

Then click on Add attachment or patch below, and select the file
 upgrade-log.tar.gz in your home directory.

I can attach mine if Jeremy is unable to.

[Bug 873576] [NEW] Attempt to upgrade from 11.04 and got message 'ubuntu-minimal' not found

2011-10-13 Thread Jeremy Thompson
Public bug reported:

It was processing the upgrade to Ocelot and I got a window that said
'ubuntu-minimal' cannot be found anywhere. Report using 'ubuntu-bug
update-manager' in a terminal and include files from /var/log/dist-upgrade'.
How do I attach these files to this report?
Did you get them all, or only the last log file I selected?

I tried to attach all the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade but the
mechanism didn't work. How do I do the attachement?

[Bug 710793] [NEW] I can read evolution email but it now never authenticates the smtp password

2011-01-31 Thread Jeremy Thompson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,
Version: Ubuntu 10.10.
Evolution version: 2.30.3
Email address: jeremy.thomps...@btinternet.com

Evolution worked perfectly for me for a few years. However, I was
adding another account such that I POP mail from one account and send
mail via my own SMTP account. The sending process asked me for a
password. I eventually realised it needed my own btyahoo PW. However,
it never verified that password.

I deleted the new account and re-entered my own account. A friend also has
Evolution, and my set up matches his.
From then on, I have been able to read emails no problem. However, it no
longer sends emails. Doing a Send/Receive it keeps asking me for the PW. I
enter it but it always says Unable to authenticate to SMTP server. Bad
authentication response from server. Ie, it is totally reproducible.

I tried setting up my account on my other boot (MS Vista / Thunderbird
email client) and I could send and receive emails no problem. Thus I
have concluded it is a problem with Evolution itself, not my ISP.

If I can, I will re-download Evolution from its host to see if that will
work.

I will respond if it works or if it doesn't.

I apologise if it isn't a bug, but it is very frustrating:)

Thank you.

Jeremy Thompson.
