[Bug 286312] Re: apt-cacher refuses to pass kickstart configuration files

2009-12-07 Thread Jim Bailey
Have you tried adding it as a regexp in /etc/apt-cacher/apt-cacher.conf
there is a section (repated below) that should make it trivial.

# Permitted package files - this is a perl regular expression which matches all
# package-type files (files that are uniquely identified by their filename).
# The default is:
#package_files_regexp =
(?:\.deb|\.rpm|\.dsc|\.tar\.gz|\.diff\.gz|\.udeb|index\.db-.+\.gz|\.jigdo|\.template)$

[Bug 436340] Re: Installer fails: grub fails on Intel ICH10 raid

2009-10-14 Thread Jim Bailey
Thanks for the reply Felix,

it doesn't help me but at least I understand some of the reasoning
behind this. I guess karmic gets a thumbs down from me based on this
regression alone. At lot of people installing Karmic for the first
time, are going to get the hump when there install fails at the last
hurdle. I wonder if the possibility of using grub1 can be included in
the installer.

[Bug 436340] Re: Installer fails: grub fails on Intel ICH10 raid

2009-10-13 Thread Jim Bailey
Not an good idea for me I have a reasonably high end Windows Vista
install on another partition I use the raid for. This is something that
need fixing pre-release, most ASUS high end gamer boards have this kind
Raid and I believe most of the Biostar and ECM boards.

What I really need to see is someone from the grub2 team to triage this
bug but with 137 and counting open bugs against grub2 and 2 weeks to
release I am quite worried.

2009-08-16 Thread Jim Bailey
I tried that later and got past the initial problems before hitting
protocol mismatchs.

Tried again this evening did a completely clean upgrade to fixes no
issue, then dist-upgrade to trunk and although the packages installed
with out complaint, I now get a protocol mistmatch. I am not sure at
this point if I need to open fresh bug for a set of interdependent
packages that installs in a sucessful but broken way.

[Bug 49594] Re: Users can't login after session crash

2007-07-12 Thread Jim Bailey
Feisty 7.04

Sorry just quick notes

I am experiencing a similar problem after a power outage of my desktop.
I can not use fail safe also user created with the gnome user creation
tool work and lots of other stuff can not mess about too long as I have
deadlines from hell backing up and going for a reinstall.

Just want to add a desktop that can not survive random reboots and power
cycles of life hasn't really got a place in the office eco-system. IMHO
Gnome devs need to address this issue with some urgency.

[Bug 42632] Re: startup script is broken

2006-08-08 Thread Jim Bailey
"I second the motion to put this in dapper-updates. This is the third
package broken out of the box from Dapper, the supposedly stable, "long
term" release. Please do the right thing and at least push this update
out."

Mldonkey is not part of the "core" release and therefore doesn't have
the testing that the supported packages have. It may not even be
possible under current packages rules for Ubuntu if it isn't then the
package should be held back to stop this spreading and giving Ubuntu a
poorer reputation than it deserves.

A rating system for MOTU maintainers would be a good option for Ubuntu
and even Debian maintainers for that matter. As would a voting system
to remove the worse offenders or promote others more capable positions
of authority within MOTU.
