[Bug 945749] Re: Mouse pointer jerky on login screen

2012-07-06 Thread Jim Padel
Switched to KDM. KDM does not have this issue. Also if you move the
mouse around for a few minutes it's seems to eventually go away.

[Bug 579924] Re: Upgrading Ubuntu LTS skips database version - Fatal error: Version error for database "bacula". Wanted 12, got 10

2010-05-13 Thread Jim Padel
Here is the mysql 10 to 11 update script. Ensure that you modify the
script for the correct db_name.

Execution is as follows

./update_mysql_tables_10_to_11 -u root -p

[Bug 579924] Re: Upgrading Ubuntu LTS skips database version - Fatal error: Version error for database "bacula". Wanted 12, got 10

2010-05-13 Thread Jim Padel
I would like to confirm both posts. The package from the repos only
contain the 11 to 12 update scripts, but to get the 10 to 11 scripts you
must obtain the source code from bacula.org, as far as I can tell they
do not come with the distro package.

[Bug 138598] Re: No sound in WoW (under Wine) after alt-tabbing

2007-10-22 Thread Jim Padel
Upon further searching... For me, I enabled the 'Sound in Background' option of
Sound Setup in WoW and it no longer kills the sound on Alt-Tab.

[Bug 138598] Re: No sound in WoW (under Wine) after alt-tabbing

2007-10-22 Thread Jim Padel
I can additionally confirm this behavior. Worked fine in feisty with wine
0.9.41. Now cannot alt-tab out without losing sound until game restart. Now
running gutsy with wine 0.9.46.
(Clean install, since dist-upgrade killed sound completely)

[Bug 136750] Re: gutsy upgrade tells me to run a command which fails

2007-10-18 Thread Jim Padel
The error is correct in that you are missing a required parameter. That
command should be in the format of $ asoundconf set-default-card
soundcard-name i.e. $ asoundconf set-default-card V8237 or $
asoundconf set-default-card AudioPCI, which ever card you want to set as
default.

As far as which card is which, I would suspect V8237 is an onboard VIA
Chipset on your motherboard and the latter a 'PCI add-on card'

You can also install the GUI Tool for the default sound card,
asoundconfgui. Not exactly sure on the name...
