2016-04-23 Thread Jim Raredon
I'm updated as of 7pm EST on April 23rd, and the bug is still there.

I have to run "unity" from the HUD to bring menus back after every boot.
This started when I upgraded to 16.04 from 15.10 on all four PCs I have
running Ubuntu.

[Bug 1292041] Re: Lockscreen doesn't turn off the screen

2014-03-23 Thread Jim Raredon
To claim this bug is of a non-essential piece of hardware is ridiculous.
The monitor, both on desktops and laptops, and it's associated power
management is nothing less than critical. This should be changed back
to critical. A regression this glaring and visible is very
inappropriate to leave unfixed for an LTS release.

[Bug 788532] Re: U1 music store plugin severely delays banshee startup

I agree that the copy-on-import is a critical feature to remain. I have
100GB+ of music and don't want to have to manually manage the directory
structure.

This can be very easily rectified by patching the copy-to-import
function to specifically exclude the Purchased from Ubuntu One folder.

[Bug 788532] Re: U1 music store plugin severely delays banshee startup

2011-06-09 Thread Jim Raredon
I would suggest changing it so that the copy-on-import feature always
excludes the Purchased from Ubuntu One folder. I often use the copy-
on-import feature since it automatically renames the files and sets up
the directories cleanly with no input from myself.

[Bug 597804] Re: Music is imported to Banshee, but remains in .ubuntuone, requiring 2X space on HD

2011-05-10 Thread Jim Raredon
This also causes banshee to take about 5 minutes to startup each time.
Running banshee --debug, I get this message for every song I've
purchased from the Ubuntu One Music Store which totals about 60 songs:

[1 Debug 22:23:00.317] U1MS: Track downloaded: -
/home/USERNAME/.ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One/Deep Red/DarkwaterS/Blind
Rage.mp3
[1 Debug 22:23:00.323] Not copying
file:///home/USERNAME/.ubuntuone/Purchased%20from%20Ubuntu%20One/Deep%20Red/DarkwaterS/Blind%20Rage.mp3
to library because there is already a file of same size at
file:///home/USERNAME/Music/Deep%20Red/DarkwaterS/04.%20Blind%20Rage.mp3

If I remove the purchased music from the /home/music folder, the
subsequent startup redownloads and imports the music into banshee
creating the same long startup on the next banshee startup.

[Bug 733233] Re: Increase shadow area to 45 pixels (but not grip area)

2011-03-13 Thread Jim Raredon
I truly think borderless is the way to go. It looked great with the new
default shadow set up when it was in the Alpha for a couple days. I
would work on getting the shadows better instead of the gtk theme.
Either way, this is definitely the prettiest release I've seen by far,
even in its alpha stage!

[Bug 685682] Re: [fglrx] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::IOpenGLSurface::UnlockRect()

2011-03-11 Thread Jim Raredon
After the March 10th updates, this bug now affects Intel Video for me.
Same symptoms as above.

[Bug 349716] Re: [jaunty] [Hewlett-Packard HP HDX 16 Notebook PC] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2009-07-29 Thread Jim Raredon
This bug was actually fixed by HP about 2 months ago. Their latest BIOS
firmware upgrade repairs the ACPI bug that prevented resume on various
HP laptops, most notably the latest DV series and all HDX series.

The downside is to flash the BIOS with this update, you need to use
Windows for that one time. I'm not aware of any way to flash the BIOS
via Ubuntu. I think it's safe to close this bug now.

[Bug 301353] Re: HP Pavilion dv5: ATA exception on resume from suspend

2009-05-28 Thread Jim Raredon
They released a BIOS update for the HDX 16 that fixed it as well! I'm
shocked that they responded on this... I never thought I'd say it, but
kudos to HP's BIOS team!

Also, thanks to Paul and everyone who contributed! Good luck to anyone
who is still hanging on.

[Bug 301353] Re: HP Pavilion dv5: ATA exception on resume from suspend

2009-05-25 Thread Jim Raredon
Update for HDX 16 users: the recently released F.20A BIOS update does
NOT fix this problem. All it does is update the firmware on the GPU for
NVIDIA users.

On a side note... Paul, thank you so much for all of your efforts!!!

[Bug 301353] Re: HP Pavilion dv5: ATA exception on resume from suspend

2009-05-16 Thread Jim Raredon
Please add to the description that this also affects the entire HDX line
of notebooks from HP including the HDX 16 and the HDX 18. If we can get
them to update their BIOS, I don't want to be left out! :)

[Bug 301353] Re: HP Pavilion dv5: ATA exception on resume from suspend

2009-03-11 Thread Jim Raredon
Jaunty with 2.6.28.9 is not fixed on the HP HDX 16. Same results on an
updated Intrepid install and updated (as of today) Jaunty install.

Attached dmesg and lspci, let me know if any other info/testing would
help. Thanks!
