[Bug 617647] Re: [Acer aspire 7736] Playback not working due to incorrect SKU override
I see that some audio stuff was just updated in Maverick, was this fix included? I noticed it on my other computer and I don't currently have Maverick installed on the laptop so I'm not able to check for myself at the moment. -- [Acer aspire 7736] Playback not working due to incorrect SKU override https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 617647] Re: [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back
I can confirm that David's fix works and that the inputs I could check are working. I don't have any way to check the digital out. The internal and mic jack both seem to work. And the speakers mute when headphones are plugged in. -- [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

langmarp, this bug seems to be pretty specific to the 7736z so I don't think it will solve your sound issues. You should probably make a post in the Ubuntu forums instead, people will be more helpful over there. -- [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I enabled the maverick-proposed repo and checked for updates and installed them. It seemed to install a new kernel (2.6.35), but my sound still doesn't work after a reboot. -- [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 617647] Re: [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back
I have attached a zip file containing three output files from the alsa- info script. 1. output from 10.04 with the sound working 2. output from 10.10 with no sound 3. output from 10.10 with the lines added to the alsa-base.conf file that were suggested here, these lines didn't solve the problem for me, but I thought I would run the script with them just in case For the person who asked earlier, your alsa-base file should be located at /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Run the following in a terminal to edit it: sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf ** Attachment added: "Alsa-Info from Lucid, Maverick, and Maverick with alsa-base edit" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/617647/+attachment/1686505/+files/alsa-info.zip -- [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 617647] Re: [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back
Thanks, gbhuvanesh, I'll try that on my 7736z when I reload 10.10 to get the Alsa-Info that was requested earlier. But seeing as how I didn't need to do anything like that in 10.04, I don't think I should have to do it in 10.10. Devs, since I just got this laptop, I don't have anything important on it. I'm totally willing to do anything you need me to do to get this figured out. I'll run that Alsa-Info script when I get home tonight. -- [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have the 7736z and I can confirm that it works in Lucid. I just wiped the hard drive and installed 10.04.1 and the sound works. It still works after applying all of the available updates. I also installed Linux Mint Debian Edition and the sound works after all updates are applied. -- [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 352732] Re: [jaunty] Sound muted after boot
Disregard my previous comment about staying in Gnome doesn't exhibit the problem. It definitely does. I did, however, find that it doesn't happen when forcing a reboot instead of using the menu in Gnome to reboot. If I do a 'sudo reboot', the sound isn't muted when coming back up. Either way, using the guide a few posts above mine to disable Pulse fixed the problem for me. -- [jaunty] Sound muted after boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 352732] Re: [jaunty] Sound muted after boot
Same thing is happening to me with my Intel HDA chipset. If I stay within Gnome, everything seems to work fine. But if I set my default session to XBMC (possible in the latest builds of XBMC), the master channel is at 0% when I boot up sometimes. I haven't tried building XBMC with Pulse Audio disabled yet. That was my next plan of action. -- [jaunty] Sound muted after boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
