[Bug 1807526] Re: Can't update UEFI firmware on Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20FY) with fwupdmgr - does not apply update after reboot

[Bug 738789] Re: Ubuntu won't finish boot after nVidia proprietary driver install
Oh. I totally forgot this issue. In fact this is part of a major issue: No support in any way for Hybrid-graphics under GNU/Linux. You can close this issue, but don't mark it as "solved" as it isn't. I switched distros (to ArchLinux) about 5~6 months ago. I'm sorry for the delay. But the best thing to do is to provide the best effort to get Hybrid-graphics cards supported. [Bug 38442] Re: Ubiquity dialogues too large for 800x600 display
This bug appears again in Oneiric live sessions (today build 17-Sep-2011 08:40). Test case: Virtual Box with a resolution of 800x600 (running ISO Test ufo-001). The problem is that all control buttons below are not accessible. This is a major issue in netbooks where the resolution by default is x600 and becomes an annoyance if Oneiric is to be installed on a netbook. Noticed that this happens on the two first dialogs: "Welcome" (where you select the language) and the "Preparing to install Ubuntu" one. Then the window is resized to a sane size and can continue normally. Then when you select the partitions, happens again (and keeps through the next screens), making impossible to open the command line feedback without getting off the screen (aside of Bug #830946). When it reaches the Slidshow, again it is resized to a smaller size but can't open the command-line feedback without the last bottom pixels going off the screen (so we can't tell what is below, maybe a hidden countdown to a 'rm -rf /*' :P) This could be solved by integrating the ubiquity window frame to the unity panel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/38442 Title: Ubiquity dialogues too large for 800x600 display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+bug/38442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 838696] Re: Ubiquity: Installing Ubuntu Oneiric (auto-resize) title to dialogue names releases inconsistantly.
** Description changed: ISO testing: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20110901/oneiric- desktop-amd64.iso Test: Install (auto-resize) I already had a previous installation of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric installed, - and I did an install size-by-size auto-resize option which displayed a + and I did an install side-by-side auto-resize option which displayed a dialog box with the title: "Install Ubuntu 11.10 alongside Ubuntu oneiric". This is a little inconsistent. Surely it should be titled either: "Install Ubuntu 11.10 alongside Ubuntu 11.10" or "Install Ubuntu Oneiric alongside Ubuntu Oneiric". Public bug reported: Steps followed (following test case http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/DesktopManual and others): - Boot the liveCD and click on Install Ubuntu. - Walk trough the configuration and start installation - Click on the small triangle to show details. What i'd expect: The window expand and show the console feedback of ubiquity. What happened: The window did not expand so the console is not visible. The "Skip" button appeared next to the short description of what's happening. Also there is another minor feedback issue: If you go forward in the timezone selection and the go back to the timezone selection, the short description stuck at "Getting time from time server...". [Bug 804985] [NEW] U3 Flash drive hangs Ubuntu when right-click on desktop icon
Public bug reported: I think the problem is related to how the drive is recognized. In Ubuntu Natty, nautilus recognizes U3 drives as "software" and freezes all system trying to open it. I suggest that the U3 software is not recognized and just is treated as a single USB Flash as it makes the whole system unusable. I follow this steps: - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - try o unmount/extract it - Ubuntu freezes/slows badly until I remove the drive (just deataching it from the netbook usb port) Also Ubuntu freezes in this scenarios: 1) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - right-click on desktop icon. 2) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - Open Places > Computer. Double click on the U3 Drive. 3) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - Double click on the U3 Drive icon on desktop. The drive is unusable under Ubuntu even as a standard flash drive, if you try to do anything from the desktop icon (right-click, double-click) then will freeze nautilus, the gvfs daemon and notification modules got 100 cpu usage until the device is removed by deataching it from the usb port. Under Arch with GNOME 3 this does not happen. The device is just recognized as a normal usb flash drive and U3 "system" is ignored completely. Did not test it in other Ubuntu versions. Thanks in advance. [Bug 753857] Re: [Natty-Beta1] Wireless LED does not turn on or blinks on a Dell Vostro 3500 laptop
Well it seems to be an issue with the kernel driver. Using the kernel module brcm80211 (now named brcmsmac) arises this issue. The embedded led does not give any feedback about the driver/hardware state. Some kind of feedback is required to know if the card is on/off or if it is receiving data, specially when working with no desktop environment feedback about it. But if I use the 'wl' kernel module, the led stays on when the adapter is on and off when the adapter is off. That's the kind of things is expected form the hardware led. I know is just a light above the keyboard and I didn't see any changes in hardware functionality so far. But I think it's important to bring some state-aware feedback to the user about it's own hardware. I'm reopening this issue as it's not "fixed" by the default kernel. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => New ** Summary changed: - [Natty-Beta1] Wireless LED does not turn on or blinks on a Dell Vostro 3500 laptop + Wireless LED does not give appropriate feedback on hardware status -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/753857 Title: Wireless LED does not give appropriate feedback on hardware status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/753857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 774308] [NEW] Unicode characters made of two keystrokes need support in Unity launcher
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity Characters like 'á', 'é', 'í', 'ó', 'ú' are not supported by the unity launcher (can't type them, is a combination of two keystrokes) and makes it annoying to use, cos the matching results in the applications suggestions are matched directly. My keyboard configuration is fine and those particular characters are typed in two keystrokes: the accent character (') followed by 'a', 'e', 'i', 'o', 'u'. All characters that are tow keystrokes are entered in the launcher as 'i instead of í. And happens in all accent types. For example: I'm trying to enter the "Software Sources " application translated as "Orígenes de Software" in my language (Spanish). [Bug 771884] [NEW] Rhythmbox Audio conversion from CD can only be played correctly on Rythmbox
Public bug reported: I've converted some audio from a CD I own to OGG format. Then I've transfered this audio files to a player (Palm TX with pTunes V5). The thing is that these audio files can only be correctly played on Rhythmbox. In any other player like WM, WM Classic, pTunes, sometimes in Totem; the audio got cut in some parts, got passed to the next song (like it is empty) or even get an error message (Invalid format in WM). I' certain it is the way that Rhythmbox converts CD tracks to OGG, I don't have this problem when I convert the same audio with Asunder for example. Discarded the possibility of a corrupted SD card cos reading it form the SD Rhythmbox is able to play it but other players just don't (or plays some cut parts). I'm not sure if I can (due to copyright) upload two samples of the same track converted by different software. Please let me know about this issue. [Bug 762018] Re: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key
Carla, have you tested this with the Natty Live USB disk? If so, Ubuntu won't open a nautilus window automatically. It opens a nautilus window when you insert a regular data USB drive. I think this is made on purpose so you won't mess around with a bootable drive. I did this: # Testing the same case as Carla, inserted the USB drive from were I've installed Natty-Beta2. The drive is mounted, the icon of a USB Flash drive appears on desktop but no nautilus window poped-up. I can open it by double clicking on the desktop icon. # Unmounted Natty LiveUSB. # Inserted another USB Flash drive. This containing regular data (non-bootable drive). It was mounted, USB Flash drive icon appeared in desktop, nautilus popped up a window showing drive's content. # Unmounted flash drive. I've tried this in several ways: inserted on different USB ports both separately, inserted both flash drives simultaneusly and always the same result: only the non-bootable drive pops up a window. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762018 Title: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 762975] [NEW] [Natty-Beta2] Wireless hot-switch off causes ssytem freeze on Dell Vostro 3500 Laptop
Public bug reported: Switching off the wireless adapter from the hard switch causes a system freeze. Couldn't recover it since keyboard and mouse weren't responding. My steps to reproduce this: # Turned on machine, login. # Connected wireless, bluetooth on. # Noticed wireless LED indicator was off (Bug #753857), but desktop indicator was on and connected successfully to my home network. Internet working (it is now, as I'm reporting from Natty). # Switched off wireless adapter from the hard-switch provided in my laptop. Bluetooth LED turned off immediately, so did desktop indicator. Wireless desktop indicator was still on. # After a second, system was frozen. Got to turn off from Power button. Tried the same steps after installing proprietary driver and the same issue was present (Bug #753857 too). I consider this a regression, since it works fine on Maverick with kernel 2.6.35-28 with Broadcom proprietary driver installed. [Bug 753813] [NEW] [Natty-Beta1] Failed to wake up from Hibernate on a Dell Vostro 3500 laptop
Public bug reported: Testing Dell Vostro 3500 laptop http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/System/SuspendResume The first test went fine. The second locked up when woke up, freezing at password prompt. Hibernate did not come back. After selecting "Hibernate" from the applet menu, computer goes to sleep. Wait about 30 seconds and turned it on. On grub menu selected this partition where i've installed Natty-Beta1. Got a blinking underscore in the top-left corner of screen, HDD led blinked a little and then turned off. Also the NumLock and Bluetooth led's (which turn off at start-up by default) turned off. Got to power off the laptop manually, then it came back on a normal session. I'm not sure it this is a regression since i didn't test it on Maverick. I'll try to test it and will comment on this bug. Any additional data please tell me which is the package I should target to apport. Thanks in advance. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config Performing test for keyboard hotkeys i've noticed the disable-touchpad key on the Dell Vostro 3500 keyboard (Fn + F6) does not work, I was expecting the touchpad will turn off with this key combo but it does not. Ok, news. Today's build failed. But something changed. [Bug 738789] [NEW] Ubuntu won't finish boot after nVidia proprietary driver install
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Followed these steps: 1. Fresh install of a daily build of Natty just updated (20/3/2011 1:30 pm GMT-3) 2. Log in on Unity with no error from Xorg (GSettings crashed and reported bug successfully). 3. Followed instructions on Installation test for nVidia Proprietary Drivers Xorg Team (http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Hardware/X/ProprietaryDrivers#Installation) 4. When in the step of rebooting, loaded the kernel 2.6.38-7-generic in grub and wait. 5. Ubuntu never got into GUI, not even into the command line as it used to. The last version I tested this (and dumped in the CLI) was Maverick on kernel 2.6.35-28-generic on this machine. It happens every time I want to install the driver. Expected result: GUI or CLI login prompt Result: Hang up shell with blinking underscore responsive only to return key to new-line and ctr+alt+del to reboot. [Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure
I've tested it and here are my impressions. I've managed to change the name with non-ASCII characters but it requires a tweak to work: If you use the charset for the PDA as CP1252 then the character 'í' is passed as '~A' in the handheld. So, I've changed the charset to BIG5 then sent the info data and back to CP1252. If the charset remains at BIG5 I'm unable to sync, and if the 'í' char is passed as '~A' can't sync either (maybe a typo in the charset selection?). Then there was another issue: the status window that pops up every time I sync my palm gone away. Never showed up anymore. I'm opening a new issue on the conduits configure (specially the EToDo conduit that works as a copier) but unfortunately my Palm is gone for service for about a week or so, so I'm unavailable for testing in the meantime. The issue is "partially" solved but i have no clue on the gone status window. Thanks for your time Matt. I hope i can use this software on daily basis. (got my palm back, im filing the issues on Evolution conduits malfunction) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569601 Title: unknown conduit in configure -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 716504] Re: subtext in "Join Now" button is hard to read
It might be a regression of this bug in some nightly builds. I'm using right now version 0.8.3+r81~maverick1 of this package from the UbuntuOne Nightlies PPA and the text under "Personal details" and "Your services" are hard to read if not impossible in light backgrounds (text is white) The other tabs seems to use text colors from the desktop theme. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/716504 Title: subtext in "Join Now" button is hard to read -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 518216] Re: empathy doesn't support MSN group chat
I got same problem, it seemes to give support for groups but the issue is that i recieve the messages but i can not see who is sending it. Im using telepathy-butterfly 0.5.14-1 and happens even in groups hosted outside the msn engine (like groupsim.com) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518216 Title: empathy doesn't support MSN group chat -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure
Hi! Thanks for the fix. But now i got the "Initial Synchronization" dialog box and can't synchronize the PDA data. Then it won't connect via bluethooth or cradle cable anymore. It says that daemon is not running but it is! What i did: # Installed gnome-pilot from synaptic manager # Followed instructions in post #27 and #44 # Killed the gpilotd and gpilot-applet, then reloaded when prompted as in post #65. It won't connect. # Rebooted my laptop and nothing. Is there a chance package "pilot-link" is causing trouble? if it is, is there a fix? Some useful data (from apt-show-versions) in the attached txt. ** Attachment added: "Package versions" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-pilot/+bug/569601/+attachment/1825543/+files/package%20versions.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569601 Title: unknown conduit in configure -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 681877] Re: Blank screen after resuming from hibernation on a Dell Latitude E6410
I have the same issue in a Vostro 3500 Laptop with a nVidia Geforce 310M in Maverik. And also the power management still triggers an hibernate message (and i think also a system hibernate routine) when it has the battery in critical state BUT it has the AC plugged in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681877 Title: Blank screen after resuming from hibernation on a Dell Latitude E6410 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
