Not that I can tell, the standard apparmor fix was enough for me.

As far as I can tell no (aside from the fact that you have to turn off
apparmor), so we can close this up if no-one else objects.

2007-06-08 Thread Joe Lynch
Sorry, I am on fiesty so I can't really test the hplip restart. However, I
do know that in fiesty for me it wasn't fixed until I used the same
work-around as before.

According to the steps you describe on the forums this looks like a
 duplicate of bug #29050.
This bug was fixed in Feisty (cupsys 1.2.7-4ubuntu1), a workaround for
Dapper and Edgy is to add ppdev to /etc/modules and then reboot.
Are you using Edgy or Feisty at this moment?
If you use Edgy do you still need to restart hplip with the above
 workaround?

 cupsys (1.2.7-4ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low

   * debian/cupsys.init.d: Fixed parallel port module loading in the
init script, the ppdev module got only loaded when the lp
module was not loaded yet (closes LP#29050).

[Bug 93342] Re: BCM4306 not working

2007-06-02 Thread Joe Lynch
Just another confirmation. Before upgrade to fiesty I had ndiswrapper
set up and everything was going fine, then I upgraded and it no longer
detects my card (lspci sees it, just no wireless devices). Exact same
symptoms.

[Bug 93342] Re: BCM4306 not working

2007-06-02 Thread Joe Lynch
Update, I have not thoroughly tested it yet, but it appears that I fixed
the problem.

Steps:
1 - Download ndiswrapper (attachment included), stick it on a flash drive or cd
and then bring it to the computer with no internet. Transfer it over, un tar
it , cd to the directory created, run make uninstall, make, and make
install as root.
2- Download bcm4318.all.tar.gz (attachment included next post). Move it to
your laptop. Un tar it, cd to the directory, and run ndiswrapper_setup.

At this point internet worked for me (though I did have to connect to a
network using wireless assistant).

[Bug 93342] Re: BCM4306 not working

2007-06-02 Thread Joe Lynch
I was under the impression that this was a bug concerning the BCM4306
Wireless LAN Controller in that it didn't work after the upgrade from
fiesty. I had the exact same card and problem so I assumed it was the
same bug. Also, the default driver did not work either, but the
ndiswrapper did ... so ...

Sorry for any confusion

[Bug 57801] Re: Hp 712c does not physically print

2006-09-11 Thread Joe Lynch
Alright, well I recently rebooted and low and behold the printer did not work
again...what a suprise. Anyway so I retraced my steps and it seems that I have
to:
1.) start /etc/init.d/hplip, otherwise the kde printing wizard doesnt see the
printer :-/
2.)Unplug the printer (from the port on the comp.), replug it and then go
through the wizard.
In order for my printer to be seen and work...kind of alot but hey...whatever
works...just in case somebody else happens to be having the same problem this
works.

[Bug 30842] Re: Trash not emptying on kubuntu !

2006-08-23 Thread Joe Lynch
Quote:
Happened again. Trash said it was empty, but there was a bunch of stuff in
~/.local/Trash/files. Deleting the files with konqueror puts them right back,
and makes the trash can full. Emptying it has no effect on the files.

To permenately delete a file, select it and then press shift-delete.
Instead of making sure you want to move it to the trash, it asks if you
would like to delete it.

[Bug 52814] Re: HP DeskJet 7xxC, 820C or 1000C does not work out of the box

2006-08-20 Thread Joe Lynch
Hmm, I've tried all of this (commenting out the version line, using
version 0, using version 712) on my Hp Deskjet 712c printer, but then
again I'm not quite sure that I have the same error. All the jobs I
print are completed, just nothing comes out of the printer. Does anyone
know why this happens??
