[Bug 1938857] [NEW] nginx serves wrong site while config is being reloaded
Public bug reported: We have a cronjob that regularly regenerates vhost configs from a template, renews certificates and reloads nginx. Lately, we are frequently seeing an error where during a short window, nginx serves the wrong site & certificate are served by nginx. For instance, I see this error log entry: 2021/08/04 06:53:19 [error] 2296834#2296834: *618991 connect() failed (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream, client: 2604:a880:400:d0::1d78:1001, server: onlyoffice.*.org, request: "GET /wp-login.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://[::1]:8910/wp-login.php";, host: ".net" The domain which is served in place of the one which was requested is NOT the default server, instead, it is one whose config hasn't been regenerated because it has a custom config that is exempt from being automatically regenerated. Again, this erroneous behaviour seems to last only for a very short while, but this is enough to e.g. cause a Nextcloud client to complain about the wrong certificate and stop synchronizing. ** Affects: nginx (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938857 Title: nginx serves wrong site while config is being reloaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1938857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Apparently something about the fs is messed up now and no balance can be run. The only temporary remedy I found was to add the skip_balance mount option to /etc/fstab, but of course, this is a crutch, and when you can't run balance, then the fs is bound to run out of space at some point. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890951 Title: btrfs not writable when mounted without "skip_balance" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1890951/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bu

[Bug 1685946] [NEW] Mismatch between declared and actual encoding in mail notifications and web pages
Public bug reported: This is about 2.1.22 in Ubuntu Yakkety. mailman is configured with German (de) as default language and the templates for German and English are generated. For some reason, the notifications and web pages in German are all encoded in latin-1, while the declared encoding both in mail notification as well as in web pages served is utf-8. This result in broken display of umlauts until one manually changes the encoding. See https://lists.uferwerk.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ I have tried to manually enforce UTF-8 by adding add_language('en', 'English (USA)', 'utf-8', 'ltr') add_language('de', 'Deutsch', 'utf-8', 'ltr') We see this misbehaviour since we migrated mailman from one server running Ubuntu 14.4 with mailman 1:2.1.14-3ubuntu0.4 to another server running 16.10 with mailman 1:2.1.22-1ubuntu0.1 On the old server, it worked just fine without any additional tweaking and on the new server, not tweaking seems to change anything at all. In the mailman error log I see recurring error messages of the sort: Apr 24 15:10:19 2017 (898) list: mitglieder: can't decode "Liste fr Mitglieder der Uferwerk e.G." as utf-8 Apr 24 15:10:19 2017 (901) list: mitglieder: can't decode "Liste fr Mitglieder der Uferwerk e.G." as utf-8 Apr 24 15:10:20 2017 (901) list: mitglieder: can't decode "Liste fr Mitglieder der Uferwerk e.G." as utf-8 I am not sure why these descriptions were suddenly in latin-1 but I manually converted them to utf-8 now, restarted mailman, and the situation remains unchanged: Both the overview page and the mail notifications are in latin-1 while the headers declare that they are in utf-8, which results in broken rendering of the text ** Affects: mailman Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mailman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: mailman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685946 Title: Mismatch between declared and actual encoding in mail notifications and web pages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/1685946/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 516520] Re: pam_unix(gdm:auth): conversation failed
I did something as close as you can get to a complete reinstall: I purged everything except for the bare minimum (those packages on which ubuntu-minimal depends on), next I cleaned up the /etc dir and removed all config files which had no owner and did not belong to an installed package, including, of course, the gdm subdirectory. Next I installed ubuntu-desktop. At first, it seemed fine, I could log on. The next thing I did was to run language-selector to get the localisation back (in installed the de languages packages) and I followed the suggestion to install the nvidia proprietary drivers (which btw failed). Now, upon reboot, I was back in the same old mess: I was unable to log on, gdm went into the same loop as before I did the cleanup. So this appears to be something serious and reproducible, deserving some real dev attention, else who knows how many people will be affected one 10.4 get out of the door officially? -- pam_unix(gdm:auth): conversation failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 343219] Re: Adding Fast User Switcher applet causes shut down options to disappear from System menu
My 2¢, about what the problem is: 1. FUSA is part of the /default/ panel config in Ubuntu, meaning that it is made harder for people who want or have to use the keyboard to execute shutdown, reboot and so forth after a fresh install. You have to opt out of it, not opt in. Also, you have to know in the first place, that it /is/ a separate component that can be removed, and you also have to know that this is the way to make another, more accessible logout dialogue magically appear. No new user will be aware of this. 2. I actually want to have FUSA. I find it hard to accept that I should have to remove it to get a working system menu back. 3. It is counterintuitive to have the shutdown and reboot command under "user", as they do not shutdown or reboot the user but the system. Therefore its only /logical/ place for people to look for it is the system menu. -- Adding Fast User Switcher applet causes shut down options to disappear from System menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
