[Bug 1008105] Re: "The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened"
`apt` needs to be more robust against this kind of breakage. [Bug 1548866] [NEW] xdg-desktop-menu creates ~/.gnome/apps/
Public bug reported: Discovered this while working on a DRM-free release of an unannounced game port to Linux. Mojosetup calls xdg-desktop-menu to populate the system menu, but this tool does a splatter-shot approach to getting the desktop entries installed and creates with `mkdir -p` ~/.gnome/apps/ whether the user uses that now very old Gnome 2 location or not. Public bug reported: This has been happening on and off since the Autumn, but only a handful of times so I haven’t been able to discover an underlying cause. Moved onto the latest nvidia driver today to verify it was still happening there, with NVIDIA 361.18. One thing that might coincide with the problems is Firefox moving to GTK 3… I grabbed what appears to be the root cause in syslog, https://gist.github.com/johndrinkwater/9188eb52dd6dae3cdba3 as everything preceeding these lines are debug spew from the game I had been using, Awesomenauts.
