[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-06-25 Thread John Kelly
nickleplated, Thanks you I missed the link somehow. 4.10.0.-25 from
proposed solved the issue for me with the Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 with
bios 7.

[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-06-25 Thread John Kelly
I'm using: 4.10.0-24-generic and only able to use Ubuntu with acp=off
nickleplated.

I'm unclear about how to fetch the versions that people are mentioning
in the last few posts. Can someone clue me in on how to fetch `linux-
generic-hwe-16.04-edge=4.10.0.23.16.10.0` or `4.10.0-25 from -proposed`
with aptitude? Google is failing me. I'd be very happy to test them out
and see if it solves the gigabyte motherboard issue.

[Bug 810344] Re: Can't upgrade dapper to hardy

2011-07-26 Thread John Kelly
I have the same problem going from 6.06 to 8.04 LTS. Like the OP, my log
shows release-upgrader adding:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper-backports main/debian-
installer

to:

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/prerequists-sources.dapper.list

which causes a subsequent 404 server error as it tries to fetch:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/dapper-backports/main/debian-
installer/binary-i386/Packages.gz

which does not exist since dapper files have been moved from the archive
sub domain to the old-releases sub domain. I think the file it is
looking for is at:

http://old-release.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/dapper-backports/main/debian-
installer/binary-i386/Packages.gz

If it is getting this outdated information from
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts as the OP suggested, can't
someone just update that page to reflect the new file location? If it is
not getting it from there, can you please tell me where is is getting it
from so I can manually correct it? Thanks!

[Bug 178670] Gutsy 7.10 won't load from live cd

2007-12-25 Thread John Kelly
Public bug reported:

Tried installing Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 onto a HP Pavilion a1323w. When booting
from the live disc i get a [37.964147] Kernel Panic-not syncing: IO-APIC +
timer doesn't work. I tried with the following options by themselves
apic=debug, noapic, acpi = off, all with no results. I had to hard reboot after
this.
Then i tried noapic, nolapic together and it dropped me into ramsfs(not sure if
thats spelled right) command prompt, which i have no idea where to go from
there.
I was able to install 7.04 and tried upgrade path from 7.04 to 7.10 with Adept
and it failed, leaving my system unusable. I reinstalled 7.04 which is what i'm
using now. I get a timer error on 7.04 during boot, but the system loads and i
have seen no issues other than the error message.
I have the nvidia 7300gs card in the pci-x slot.

[Bug 73271] flv audio lag

2006-11-25 Thread John Kelly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mplayer

I am having trouble getting mplayer to play .flv files correctly. There
is a 3 or 4 second audio delay when playing the videos. This is the only
error i noticed when mplayer played the .flv back but i doubt this has
anything to do with the problem im having.

Requested audio codec family [mp3] (afm=mp3lib) not available.
Enable it at compilation.
Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders
AUDIO: 22050 Hz, 1 ch, s16be, 0.0 kbit/0.00% (ratio: 0-44100)
Selected audio codec: [ffmp3] afm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg MPEG layer-3 audio decoder)

I also tried the -framedrop option but it had no effect.

2006-08-12 Thread John Kelly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings

system settings in kubuntu crashes when i select the appearance option
in system settings.

It was working before i installed the kbfx applet.

If i start kcontrol from the command line and select the kbfx applet
option then system settings crashes.

I removed kbfx from kubuntu and now i have no problems but this is still
a problem for people who want to use kbfx in kde.
