2011-09-22 Thread Joke de Buhr
I sorry but I think I’ve to correct my earlier statement. Seems it was a
bit to enthusiastic.

After a longer period (about an hour) of a good reliable connection the
speed begins to diminish before the connection stops working completely.

The only thing that seems to work is unplugging the device. After that
connection works again reliable for a longer period of time until it
begins to diminish again and finally stops.

2011-09-22 Thread Joke de Buhr
I just tested the new firmware with my DWA-140 rev. B2 (07d1:3c0a). The
afore mentioned regressions about download speed and connection
reliability seems to be fixed now. Everything is working now. At least
the last hour.

But the currently reported connection speed (150Mbit/s) is less than the
connection speed is reported when using the official ralinktech driver
(280Mbit/s). But I didn’t actually test chose speed rates with neither
one of them.

[Bug 660649] Re: fsck.btrfs not found in the system

2011-07-30 Thread Joke de Buhr
Well you can always disable the filesystem check via /etc/fstab. Just
set the value in the sixth column to 0. This way fsck assumes the
filesystem doesn’t need to be checked ever and fsck.btrfs will never be
run. But you have to remember enable the check later on if a proper
fsck.btrfs has been released.

2011-06-22 Thread Joke de Buhr
I’ve been using the oneiric version on of the package on my natty
installation but I think the firmware version is the same. I can
confirm the situation.

 • rt2870sta can’t connect at draft-N speed.
 • rt2000usb can connect at draft-N speed.
 • With rt2000usb the connection is extremely slow. It’s hanging often and
pings can’t get through.
 • After disabling power saving with rt2000usb (iwconfig wlan0 power off) the
connection improves a little bit but it’s still extremely slow and unreliable.

[Bug 750209] Re: btrfs does a full partition check on each boot

2011-04-15 Thread Joke de Buhr
Thanks for the hint but I already took care of that as soon as I
realized what caused the massive startup delay.

But I think as long as there is no working btrfsck the package should
not provide a symlink to btrfsck. If there's need for /sbin/fsck.btrfs
it should be symlink pointing to /bin/true instead. At least until a
btrfsck is released which doesn't do a full check on clearly unmounted
partitions.

[Bug 750209] [NEW] btrfs does a full partition check on each boot

2011-04-04 Thread Joke de Buhr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: btrfs-tools

Since bug #660649 has been closed btrfsck does a full filesystem check
during each boot. This can cause massive delays during boot time
depending on the size of the partition.

Running btrfsck during startup isn't very usefull at the moment:
  - btrfsck does a full check even if the filesystem has been unmounted
correctly.
  - btrfsck doesn't repair anything it just checks for errors.

I just rebuilt the package. I tested it by adding ssh keys. I think it
should work with gpgsm --import as well. But I'm not absolutely sure
because I'm not a gnupg developer.

The new packages are available. You should install all three packages:
gnupg2, gpg-agent and gpgsm. This may be the reason you had trouble with
gpgsm the last time.

[Bug 363958] Re: in intramfs dropbear starts before NIC is ready

2009-11-11 Thread Joke de Buhr
The dropbear init-premount sript should not start configure_network in
background.

In "/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-premount/dropbear" replace:
configure_networking &
with
configure_networking

This way the networking script has time to configure everything before
the dropbear daemons gets started.

[Bug 464565] [NEW] Unable to connect to ipv6 domains

2009-10-30 Thread Joke de Buhr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

If trying to connect to ipv6 domains cups reports a "400 Bad Request" error.
The cups daemon emits the error on both the web interface and inter
client-server-connections. Trying to access via the ipv6 address directly is
successful though.

On an ipv6-enabled host it's easy to test. Browsing in firefox to
http://[::1]:631/
the cups interface appears. Browsing to
http://ip6-localhost:631/
cups reports a bad request. The domain name ip6-localhost is setup to redirect
to ::1 correctly.

[Bug 72054] Re: package defaults are unfriendly for users that use the 'viins' editing mode

2009-06-24 Thread Joke de Buhr
The zsh manual says the viins mode is automatically turned on if the EDITOR
environment variable contains anything linke 'vi'.
http://zsh.sourceforge.net/Doc/Release/zsh_17.html#SEC92

The additional ubuntu keybindings cause a lot of trouble if someone
exports EDITOR=vim in .zshrc and starts an other zsh instance via sudo
-s oder screen. The new instance starts with viins mode and the
keybindings in /etc/zsh/zshrc are activated.

This doesn't affect a normal login shells since the environment most
likely doesn't have the EDITOR variable set.

The intrepid release of mkvtoolnix (and the gui wrapper too) doesn't recognize

[Bug 278842] [NEW] kde lacks own pam file for screensaver

2008-10-05 Thread Joke de Buhr
Public bug reported:

Release: Intrepid (devel)

KDE4 doesn't provide an own pam file for it's screensaver/screenlock component.
Cause it's missing pam falls back to /etc/pam.d/others. If a user has a more
restrictive /etc/pam.d/others than the default one (pam_deny.so) pam denies
everything causing the kcheckpass component not being able to verify the
password. the user can't login anymore.
KDE3 and Gnome both provide such a pam file and as far as I remember there had
been one as I testet KDE4 from the PPA under hardy.
