I've tried earlier versions of Ubuntu (9.04 and 8.10), and they have the same problem. I tried compiling the driver supplied by RaLink - it won't compile on 9.10, but I compiled it for 8.10 and it still had the problem. I've also tried using ndiswrapper, but it reports the same IRQ problem. Now I've run out of ideas so I am going to have to reluctantly reinstall windows back on the laptop. [Bug 512153] [NEW] RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI not working
Public bug reported: Hi there, I have just installed Ubuntu 2009.10 on my girlfriends Packard Bell Easynote R1935, and the wireless card is not working. lspci lists it as "RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI". I have faffed around for ages trying to compile the driver from RaLink's website but can't get that to work. [Bug 149423] Microphone not detected on Dell Vostro 1500
Public bug reported: I am on Gutsy with a Dell Vostro 1500 and my microphone does not work at all. The microphone was not actually being detected by ALSA (I couldn't set it as an input source in gnome-volume-control), but I found this bug: https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=203 and followed the workaround to put "options snd-hda-intel model=ref" in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base. This resulted in the microphone being detected (I could set it as the input source) but there were two issues: * When I plugged external speaker in, sound would continue to play on the laptop's internal speakers * I still can't manage to record any sound with the microphone (this might be because I don't have it configured correctly but I have played around with lots of different settings) Incidentally, I had to upgrade to alsa-driver-1.0.15rc3 in order to get my sound to work (see bug #131133), but I'm pretty sure this is also an issue in the Gutsy packaged version of alsa-driver. Any work around or fix for this would be really appreciated. [Bug 147230] Workspace switching via touchpad works badly
Public bug reported: With desktop effects enabled I can switch to a different workspace by scrolling my mouse wheel when on the desktop - each "click" of the mouse wheel goes to a new workspace, in a continuous circle. When using my touchpad, touching the right hand side of it emulates a mouse wheel. The difference is that the touchpad's "mouse wheel" doesn't have "clicks". This means that when I switch workspace, it is very difficult to go to exactly the one I want using the touchpad as it will often detect multiple "clicks" and I can end up back on the one I was on. One way to alleviate this might be to no switch workspaces in a circle, but to only switch up to the last one in one direction - to get back from that the user would have to scroll the other way. This would solve my problem was I only have two workspaces, but if a user had four workspaces it would still be difficult to get to numbers 2 and 3. Maybe the touchpad just needs to be less sensitive? ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Workspace switching via touchpad works badly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 104476] Re: [EDGY] Firefox Crashed [@ js_GetScriptLineExtent]
It's not really reproducible. I have been experiencing several Firefox crashes recently so it's hard to pinpoint what caused it, but I think this one may be related to the Firebug extension as I think I experienced less crashes when I disabled the extension. I have Firefox set to always keep the tab bar visible, and when I have only one tag open and want to get rid of it (and therefore go to my home page of about:blank) I will middle click it. This is what I did and the browser froze and then eventually crashed. -- [EDGY] Firefox Crashed [@ js_GetScriptLineExtent] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 96023] Re: Firefox crash
I can't reproduce it every time but it has happened before. Basically I browse for a bit, open a page with a flash movie in it. When the movie is loading the entire browser crashes. Again, this only happens intermittently; I can re-open Firefox, restore the session, and everything's fine. -- Firefox crash https://launchpad.net/bugs/96023 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 24728] Re: Firefox Unstable (maybe caused by flash plugin)
I just had a crash and the stack trace seems to implicate the flash plugin. Here's the crash report. "Edit": Maybe not. The report is 47MB and I get a server error whenever I try to upload it. Okay it just did it again. Looks like the same crash to me. [Bug 91678] Firefox crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox I've been trying to get a backtrace for a bug which keeps crashing my Firefox whenever the Firebug extension is enabled. However I got home today to see Firefox had crashed. I don't think this is a same crash as it appears to be related to SSL or something, but I will attach the backtrace anyway. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Firefox crash https://launchpad.net/bugs/91678 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81887] CinePaint uses incompatible dcraw arguments
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cinepaint I installed the version of CinePaint in edgy-proposed (see bug #65457) - I wanted to try out it's RAW photo editing capabilities. Unfortunately it seems to call dcraw with incompatible arguments. I guess this is probably a version incompatibility between the dcraw version in edgy and the version assumed by CinePaint 0.20? [Bug 6602] Re: Workaround for USB digital camera photo download problems
I am affected by this bug. I have a Canon EOS 400D. Tormod Volden's fix works for me, but not always. It seems I can connect to the camera and import photos (using F-Spot) initially, but if I try to do a second import I get the error. A workaround for this is to turn the camera off and on again, effectively resetting the connection. Let me know if I can provide any info. -- Workaround for USB digital camera photo download problems https://launchpad.net/bugs/6602 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
