Running Chromium Version 86.0.4240.111 (Official Build) snap (64-bit) on
Ubuntu 20.04 and I'm not seeing my policies enforced inside Chromium.

[Bug 1861117] [NEW] SSSD can't process GPO from Active Directory when it contains lines with no equal sign

2020-01-28 Thread Jon Schewe
Public bug reported:

This appears to be the same bug as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1641203 however as
directed by Bryce Harrington in the last comment I'm opening a new bug
report. I have some systems on bionic that are seeing this same problem.
They are running sssd 1.16, which should have the fix, but still appear
to have the problem with group policies that don't have equal signs in
them.

[Bug 1804542] Re: Multiple intermittent socket failures during name resolutions

2018-12-27 Thread Jon Schewe
I too am seeing this problem. This is on a computer that I'm using as a
router using NAT. I have a dual stack IPv6 setup. My ISP gives me an
IPv6 subnet that I use for my internal network. I have attached my
configuration files.

I received no errors with this configuration under Ubuntu 16.04, however
I do see these errors under Ubuntu 18.04. So I believe it's a change in
the bind deamon, perhaps a configuration open that I need to add.

I have tried turning on full debugging and it hasn't been terribly
helpful. I can do that again if you have particular debugging options
that should be enabled.

What other information can I provide to aide in debugging this?

vivid testing kernel also worked for me. However I've gone back to
3.13.0-105 as it's part of the Ubuntu repository. I'm hoping that this
gets fixed so that I can move to a recent kernel.

[Bug 1653162] Re: System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2017-05-05 Thread Jon Schewe
After running for about 24 hours I got a large number of "aacraid: Host
adapter abort request (2,0,0,0)" errors and then the following:

AAC: Host adapter BLINK LED 0x7
AAC0: adapter kernel panic'd 7.
sd 2:0:0:0: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery
sd 2:0:0:0: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery

At this point my root filesystem is read-only. It won't reboot remotely
because I've got logging turned on for sudo. So I'll need to physically
goto the system and do a hard reset.

[Bug 1653162] Re: System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2017-05-01 Thread Jon Schewe
I finally got time to get access to the computer again. I tried the
4.4.0-62 kernel from xenial-proposed and received "host adapter dead".

Since I last tested I see that 4.4.0-75 is available, so I tried that.
The system booted. It gave me some messages about scsi adapter reset and
a messag about the scsi bus being hung, but after that the system
appears to have booted ok and I'm able to access the disk.

[Bug 1653162] Re: System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2017-01-24 Thread Jon Schewe
I installed all of the kernels and then rebooted multiple times starting
with my working kernel first and then going up in version numbers.

3.13.0-105 -> boots

3.13 -> kernel panic, can't execute /bin/sh
3.16 -> boots
4.0 -> boots
4.2 -> boots, after some time got some messages about host adapter reset with
possible SCSI hang, but it appears OK
4.4 -> boots

[Bug 1653162] Re: System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2017-01-03 Thread Jon Schewe
I updated the bios to A07 as this is the latest listed for my service tag
1VMBS61.
I updated the BMC bios and the SAS controller BIOS.
Still won't boot with kernel 4.4.0-57.

[Bug 1653162] Re: System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2016-12-29 Thread Jon Schewe
I tried some other kernel parameters:

scsi_scan=sync -> didn't help
pci=nomsi,nommconf -> didn't help

For now I'm just booting the 3.13.0 kernel since I need the server up
and don't have good physical access to it.

[Bug 1653162] [NEW] System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2016-12-29 Thread Jon Schewe
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 with Dell CERC 1.5/6ch RAID controller in
it. Everything worked fine under Ubuntu 14.04.1. When I upgraded to
16.04.1 the system won't boot. It can't find the root filesystem. I see
errors about host adapter dead on the screen many times. This is with
kernel 4.4.0-57 and with 4.8.0-32. When I switch back to kernel
3.13.0-105 the system boots just fine.

I have mptbios 5.06.04.
The CERC card says bios version 4.1-0 [Build 7403]

When booting into the ercovery kernel I'm getting error messages about host
adapter dead.
Eventually I get a message:
"aacraid: aac_fib_send: first asynchronous command timed out.
Usually a result of a PCI interrupt routing problem
update moher board BIOS or consider utilizing one of
the SAFE mode kernel options (acpi, apic etc)"

Using kernel parameter "intel_iommu=on" doesn't help. This was suggested on a
post that I saw about these errors.

Booting with "noapic" didn't help.
Booting with "noapic noacpi" didn't help.

I've also tried the dkms modules from Adaptec and that doesn't seem to help
either.

I can't figure out how to upgrade the firmware or BIOS on the system from
Ubuntu either.

[Bug 1552551] Re: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. REGRESSION

2016-12-29 Thread Jon Schewe
Christopher,

I tried to file a bug report and it won't let me. I can't boot into the
4.4.0 kernel, so I can't file a bug report from that version and it
appears that I can't file the bug report from my 3.13.0 kernel either.

[Bug 1552551] Re: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. REGRESSION

2016-12-29 Thread Jon Schewe
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 with Dell CERC 1.5/6ch RAID controller in
it. Everything worked fine under Ubuntu 14.04.1. When I upgraded to
16.04.1 the system won't boot. It can't find the root filesystem. I see
errors about host adapter dead on the screen many times. This is with
kernel 4.4.0-57 and with 4.8.0-32. When I switch back to kernel
3.13.0-105 the system boots just fine.

Using intel_iommu=on doesn't help.

I have mptbios 5.06.04.
The CERC card says bios version 4.1-0 [Build 7403]

I can't figure out how to upgrade the firmware or BIOS on the system
from Ubuntu either.

[Bug 1512097] [NEW] Random crashes of X11

2015-11-01 Thread Jon Schewe
Public bug reported:

This seems to happen when opening a new window. Just when the new window
is going to open my screen goes black and I see the last lines of the
boot process like I switched to the first virtual terminal. I wait a
second or two and then I'm back at the login screen. Xorg crash log
attached. The report 1509846 seems to be very similar to the behavior of
what I'm seeing. I've tried turning off the animations in compiz now and
will see how it goes.

[Bug 1256655] Re: [Gazelle Professional, Intel Haswell HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Playback problem, built in speakers work but no audio over HDMI

2014-02-21 Thread Jon Schewe
Brandon, what do you do in pavucontrol to get audio? I've installed the
app and started it up, but besides the checkboxes for different types of
audio (PCM, DTS, AC3, MPEG, EAC3) I don't see anything different from
the regular sound settings. I don't get anymore output devices listed as
options even when I'm showing all output devices.

Brandon, so you're able to get HDMI audio working if you boot the system
with the HDMI cable plugged in? I ask because I have the same laptop and
can't get HDMI audio, although I can't get it even if I have the HDMI
cable plugged in at boot.

[Bug 1162924] Re: bug disabling Xen guest interface

2013-05-27 Thread Jon Schewe
I have a dom0 with a 3.5.0 kernel (Ubuntu Precise) and a domU with a
3.5.0 (Ubuntu Precise) nfs-server. This setup seems to behave fine.
However when I start another domU with a 3.1 kernel (OpenSUSE 12.1) nfs-
client which mounts nfs-server the network interface on nfs-server gets
shutdown instead of the network interface on nfs-client. I have other
Ubuntu Precise domUs that nfs mount nfs-server and they do not cause the
network interface to be shutdown.

I tried the workaround at http://www.marshut.com/yxhm/bad-network-
perfornance-too-many-frags-messages.html and that doesn't work.

Correction, the workaround does work when applied to the domU as well as the
dom0. I used
ethtool -K eth0 tx off tso off gso off
in the domU

and
ethtool -K eth0 tso off gso off
in the dom0 for each interface.
