[Bug 940712] Re: Keyboard dead keys don't work after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 Precise
Something I just discovered that might help (or not) in discovering the problem: before the update, dead keys didn't work on Emacs, but worked everywhere else. After the change, dead keys aren't working everywhere else, but started working on Emacs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/940712 Title: Keyboard dead keys don't work after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard-config/+bug/940712/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I forgot to mention (not sure if relevant) that it's a Logitech USB keyboard, but the same problem happens with a PS/2 keyboard. [Bug 817169] [NEW] linked contacts are unlinked when automatic linking is used
Public bug reported: There is an issue I found with what seems to be the automatic linking of similar contacts. In my Empathy I have four active accounts, which I will call: MSN A MSN B GTalk C Facebook D I have one contact that is available in all four accounts (its my wife :-D). Because she has the same email on both A and B, Empathy automatically links her on accounts A and B. I then link my wife's other accounts (on accounts C and D) to this metacontact. However I noticed that every once in a while (apparently when network connectivity is lost, or I restart the computer, or some other related event) the metacontact is lost and only the contacts on A and B are linked. Contacts on C and D are now separate. I noticed the same behaviour with other contacts, but it only happens for contacts that exist with the same ID in more than one account with the same protocol. In another computer I have the same behaviour happening with contacts that autolink on both GTalk and MSN, and in this situation the autolinks are kept, but other linking is lost. Contacts that are linked and don't have an equivalent in more than one account of the same protocol are not affected by this problem. I'm using Empathy 2.34.0-0ubuntu3.1 on Ubuntu 11.04. [Bug 673332] [NEW] adding contact when multiple MSN accounts available
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy When I try to add a new contact to a MSN account, something weird happens. I have two MSN accounts (I will call them A and B). Re: [Bug 332945] Re: [Jaunty] Update Notifier icon would provide useful status information
Just to give my two cents on the subject: I'm in favour of keeping the notification icon for a simple reason. Someone (I don't remember if Mark or someone else) mentioned, from what I got, that the notification area has been used by applications, and to avoid confusion we should remove it from there. So, the problem is not the area itself, it's the applications! The notification area is there to give notifications, if the applications are using it too much then (using this argument) the applications should be using something else, not the notifications. This is the same as changing your address because you are receiving too much junk mail. My suggestion (and I know this isn't something to be decided in a couple of days) is to keep two areas, one for applications that run in background and want to hide from the window list, like pidgin, network manager, skype, power manager, bittorrent, etc. (citing the list in my desktop right now), and another area for notifications, like updates, new mail, or whatever else needs my attention at some point in the near future (I liked the "patient notifications" mentioned before). If someone wants to keep both together, just put both areas in the same place. But I'm in favour of an option to keep the notification icon, so that everyone can choose the behaviour. If you think usability dictates the use of a pop-under window, keep this option default, but I'm used to that, as is a lot of people around, and I'd love to keep it there. And this is the behaviour that people migrating from some other major OSs are used to. Well, that's my opinion. I didn't read all the two hundred and something comments on the subject (I over-read the eighty first and been following the last couple of days), but I think this could be considered. -- Jonatan Schroeder, MSc. [Bug 298234] [NEW] Gnome panel appears over maximized window when using multiple monitors
Public bug reported: When I use multiple monitors, one above the other, there are some issues regarding where the panels are positioned. I have a laptop screen and an external monitor. As stated in another bug (which I understand is an issue, but is not the point on this bug), when I turn the external monitor on (positioned under the laptop screen), the panels are moved to the external monitor. When I move the panels back to my laptop screen (as described in the bug workaround), the bottom panel is ignored by maximized windows, and they use that space without considering the panel. This leads to the bottom few pixels of each maximized windows (usually containing a status bar, or the next command to be typed in a terminal) to be hidden. The attachment explains it better. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gnome panel appears over maximized window when using multiple monitors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 298226] [NEW] X11/GDM crash after using xrandr
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid. I recently bought a new monitor to use with my Laptop (Acer Aspire 1642WLMi with Intel graphics card), and I'm using xrandr to switch to two monitors. The commands I use are: xrandr --fb 1280x1824 --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --output VGA --mode 1280x1024 --below LVDS --verbose to turn the monitor on, and xrandr --fb 1280x800 --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --output VGA --off --verbose to turn it off. The problem is that when I turn the monitor off, I return to the login screen, I'm assuming because X11 restarts. This doesn't happen all the times, it usually doesn't work when I have been working on a session for some time. Some errors I found in some logs: /var/log/gdm/:0.log.2: (EE) intel(0): underrun on pipe B! [Bug 221229] [NEW] nm-editor shows password in wrong field
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager I got really excited with the new wireless network editor, but I found a problem for WPA networks. On a WPA enterprise network, the identity password is being shown in the "private key password" field. I have nm- editor 0.6.6-0ubuntu5 on Ubuntu 8.04. I'm sending an attachment with the printscreen. It shows a password on private key password field, but I don't have one for this network, and doesn't show the identity password, that is saved for this network. If I show passwords (no printscreen for obvious reasons), the private key password shows the identity password. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nm-editor shows password in wrong field https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221229 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 206239] [NEW] system monitor doesn't sort by %cpu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor after installing ubuntu 8.04 beta, the system monitor is not sorting the processes properly, neither by %cpu, nor by memory (name seems to work, status usually works, sometimes doesn't). This happens in both ascending and descending orders. Besides that, every time a new process is added, the scrollbar gets crazy, and doesn't show the top processes any more.
