I solved the same issue on Ubuntu 17.10 Acer Aspire E5. There is a repo with a lot of BT Firmware ready to use: https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware/tree/master/brcm It may be necessary to rename the file to make it work. Amr Ibrahim is right. I downloaded the missing file from https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt- firmware/blob/master/brcm/BCM43142A0-04ca-2009.hcd and renamed it to /lib/firmware/brcm/BCM.hcd. [Bug 1592833] Re: Some accented characters have zero-width
** Description changed: Some characters in the Cantarell font, e.g., å, ê, and ü, have zero width in version 0.0.21-1. This makes them display incorrectly and overlap other letters. According to the Debian bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=822762 the issue has been fixed in version 0.0.24-1. Could we please get this version in Xenial so my name can be shown correctly? + + [Impact] + The bug effects users of languages that make use of accents and umlauts. This includes at least German and French. All users that use Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with the default font Cantarell in one of the effected languages will see "display errors" in words that contain one of the effected letters as they are overlayed by other letters. This effects at least Firefox and the gnome tweak tool. + + [Test Case] + Install Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 and select French as language. Open The gnome tweak tool. The label on the Fonts menu ("Fenêtres") is not beeing displayed correctly. In addition you may open Firefox and navigate to a page that contains such a letter in its title (e.g. https://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/umlaut-ue-ue-in-firefox-ueberschneidet-sich-mi/). You will see the issue on the tab label. + + [Regression Potential] + I can hardly see a regression potential by upgrading the GNOME default Font.
