[Bug 320836] [NEW] twistedcaldav problem

2009-01-24 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: calendarserver

After installing calendarserver according to the /usr/share/doc and with
some help from the web, an Unhandled Error appears when trying to access
the calendarserver from a client (sunbird). There might be a relation
with this bug http://trac.calendarserver.org/ticket/285 but I'm not
sure.

Removing twisted_web2.py doesn't solve the issue. error.log is attached
to this bug.

Package: calendarserver
Version: 1.2.dfsg-6
Intrepid 8.10 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64

Maybe that's it?

FWIW I have the same issue on a HP 6730b. Mic works perfectly, only not
in the flash plugin.

[Bug 301140] Re: flash can't access microphone

2009-01-28 Thread Joolz
- apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree
- download libflashplayer-10.0.d21.1.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz from the adobe site
- put the .so in /usr/lib/firefox/plugins
- and restarting firefox worked for me.

Ugly workaround of course, this isn't updated automagically.

Same here on intrepid amd64.

FWIW, when I define a WIFI connection and store where the ca-certificate
is stored, the network connection forgets this. When I try to connect, I
am warned that no cert is chosen and the option is given to me to choose
one. When I do that, the crash occurs.

[Bug 57285] gtkpod

2006-08-22 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

gtkpod 0.99.2 on dapper (2.6.15-26-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 3 03:13:28
UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux)

In order to get more info i ran gtkpod from a console. It gave this
error a lot (this may not be related though): "(gtkpod:10067): GLib-
GObject-WARNING **: value "TRUE" of type `gboolean' is invalid or out of
range for property `active' of type `gboolean'"

When I try to save a changed order setting (edit, sorting, change
anything and press ok or apply) gtkpod segfaults with only the message
"Segmentation fault" in the terminal. This is reproducable.

[Bug 58102] cryptsetup / LUKS won't work

2006-08-29 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-686

Following this procedure:

http://www.saout.de/tikiwiki/tiki-
index.php?page=EncryptedDeviceUsingLUKS

I can't get LUKS running on a USB stick. I tried this on two different
machines (a three years old desktop and a brand new notebook) with the
latest 686 and 386 kernels. All fail the same (see below). As you can
see, I tried it with a pre-made linux partition and when that failed
with no partitions at all. Maybe a kernel make setting would fix this,
but I don't feel like gentoo-ing my own kernels ;)

Here's what I tried:

Hi Sebastian,

Sorry for not reacting for so long, but I had to go back from Edgy to
Dapper for another reason, an openssh-server issue that only I and one
other guy on the other side of the planet seem to have :)

So, the problem solved itself in a not so satisfying way.

Anyway, thanks!

13   David Yeiser ~ 04 April 2007

The moon one is actually a lot less folds than I thought when I first
heard this riddle.

Assume the phone book to be 2” thick:

1 fold (1f) = 2 x previous thickness.

1f = 4”
2f = 8”
3f = 16”
4f = 32”
5f = 64”
…
33f = 17179869180” = 271,147 miles

Distance from the earth to the moon = 238,906 miles.

It’s based on geometric growth, so you can produce a formula that would
give you the height of the resulting folds with the variables being the
thickness of the phone book and the number of folds.

t0 = original thickness of phone book
f = number of folds
h = height of phone book after folds

EQ:
h = t0*(2^f)

So for 33 folds:
h = (2)*(2^33) = 17179869180”

Okay, I’m done now. Feel free to delete this comment if it’s too far off-topic!

[Bug 198666] [NEW] VFS: busy inodes on changed media.

2008-03-05 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

After loading and unloading a CD the system log is flooded with these
messages:

VFS: busy inodes on changed media.

A machine that has this issue spontaniously restarted. I used this
workaround http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-529096.html

1. Open Terminal
2. sudo eject
3. Let it eject and then push the button on your drive to pull the empty CD
tray back in.
4. sudo eject -t
5. exit

which will stop the flooding. IMHO this is a major problem, Ubuntu
restarting for nothing is Not A Good Thing(tm)

[Bug 198699] [NEW] gnome-keybinding-properties starts firefox without homepage

2008-03-05 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

When firefox is started with a key combo assigned by gnome-keybinding-
properties firefox will not display the home page (set from within
firefox) but the contents of the home directory on the file system.

Starting firefox from the command line (`firefox`) or from a launcher
(`firefox %u`) don't have this problem.

[Bug 92160] gtk-gnutella thinks it's too old to start

2007-03-14 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gtk-gnutella

gtk-gnutella version 0.96.1-0ubuntu1 in Dapper.

When started from the menu nothing seems to happen. This is echoed to
stdout:

*** ANCIENT VERSION DETECTED! ***

Sorry, this program is too ancient to run without
an explicit user action: If it's not possible to upgrade
you may edit the file

/home/myusername/.gtk-gnutella/config_gnet

and set the variable "ancient_version_force" to
"gtk-gnutella/0.96.1 (2006-02-22; GTK2; Linux i686)".

You will then be able to run this version forever, but
please consider upgrading, as Gnutella is an evolving
network in which ancient software is less useful or even
harmful!

*** EXITING ***

The solution works, but imo would be a good idea to do an ugrade on the
whole package in Dapper or do some minor upgrade that would set
ancient_version_force to the right value so that users who don't know a
terminal won't think the package itself is broken.

Hi, that sounds right. I think it's a bug in firefox. I use Ubuntu Breezy
Badger's Graphical User interface, and I have firefox version 1.5.0.11. I'm
only using Breezy Badger because I've been unable to upgrade to Dapper Drake
using the upgrade to 6.06 LTS button in the Update Manager. I wonder if
the firefox and flashplayer bug would go away if I could upgrade to Dapper
Drake?

[Bug 94402] keyboard shortcut for "Toggle window on all workspaces" doesn't work

Public bug reported:

System -> prefs -> keyboard shortcuts -> toggle window on all
workspaces. I tried assigning (several different) keyboard shortcuts,

Maybe the problem is in the different terminology ("toggle window..."

[Bug 57285] gtkpod

2006-08-22 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

gtkpod 0.99.2 on dapper (2.6.15-26-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 3 03:13:28
UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux)

In order to get more info i ran gtkpod from a console. It gave this
error a lot (this may not be related though): "(gtkpod:10067): GLib-
GObject-WARNING **: value "TRUE" of type `gboolean' is invalid or out of
range for property `active' of type `gboolean'"

When I try to save a changed order setting (edit, sorting, change
anything and press ok or apply) gtkpod segfaults with only the message
"Segmentation fault" in the terminal. This is reproducable.

[Bug 58102] cryptsetup / LUKS won't work

2006-08-29 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-686

Following this procedure:

http://www.saout.de/tikiwiki/tiki-
index.php?page=EncryptedDeviceUsingLUKS

I can't get LUKS running on a USB stick. I tried this on two different
machines (a three years old desktop and a brand new notebook) with the
latest 686 and 386 kernels. All fail the same (see below). As you can
see, I tried it with a pre-made linux partition and when that failed
with no partitions at all. Maybe a kernel make setting would fix this,
but I don't feel like gentoo-ing my own kernels ;)

Here's what I tried:

[Bug 95011] erratical titlebar behaviour

2007-03-23 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

The titlebar of a window doesn't always get the right color when it has
or hasn't got focus. I sometimes have a windows in focus but the
titlebar remains white transparant. Sometimes a window loses focus but
the titlebar remains brown.

This is not a hard problem, sometimes it happens, sometimes not.
Resizing a window sometimes helps.

[Bug 94402] keyboard shortcut for "Toggle window on all workspaces" doesn't work

2007-03-21 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

(Feisty with desktop effects enabled)

System -> prefs -> keyboard shortcuts -> toggle window on all
workspaces. I tried assigning (several different) keyboard shortcuts,
but it won't work. Right-clicking a window and checking "always on
visible workspace" does the trick, but is a lot slower than a shortcut.

Maybe the problem is in the different terminology ("toggle window..."
vs. "always..")?

[Bug 57285] gtkpod

2006-08-22 Thread Joolz

gtkpod 0.99.2 on dapper (2.6.15-26-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 3 03:13:28

In order to get more info i ran gtkpod from a console. It gave this
error a lot (this may not be related though): "(gtkpod:10067): GLib-

range for property `active' of type `gboolean'"

When I try to save a changed order setting (edit, sorting, change

[Bug 58102] cryptsetup / LUKS won't work

2006-08-29 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-686

Following this procedure:

http://www.saout.de/tikiwiki/tiki-
index.php?page=EncryptedDeviceUsingLUKS

I can't get LUKS running on a USB stick. I tried this on two different
machines (a three years old desktop and a brand new notebook) with the
latest 686 and 386 kernels. All fail the same (see below). As you can
see, I tried it with a pre-made linux partition and when that failed
with no partitions at all. Maybe a kernel make setting would fix this,
but I don't feel like gentoo-ing my own kernels ;)

Here's what I tried:

[Bug 198380] [NEW] VM with 2048MB crashes

2008-03-04 Thread Joolz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qemu

Qemu seems to be limited to < 2Gb RAM. This may seem like a lot but we
need to run Oracle DBMS + Bea Weblogic 10 on Windows XP (in a VM) and
they need more than 2Gb. Unfortunately VMWare is no help because of
another bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vmware-
server/+bug/174098).

qemu -m 2048 -boot c xp.image -> qemu gives me a usage screen
qemu -m 2047 -boot c xp.image -> "Could not allocate physical memory"
qemu -m 2000 -boot c xp.image -> qemu starts fine

The same happens when I use `kvm` instead of `qemu`. We (Ubuntu) are
note alone in this: http://qemu-forum.ipi.fi/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=12927

Ubuntu Gutsy amd64 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 02:46:46 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux
Qemu 0.9.0-2ubuntu4

[Bug 193201] Re: gnome-main-menu launcher properties window starts behind

2008-03-04 Thread Joolz
Confirmed.

IMHO it's a bug and FWIW (to make it better Googleable): it's "launcher
properties".

[Bug 174611] Re: gnome-system-monitor showing impossible amounts of memory

2008-03-04 Thread Joolz
Could this be an easter egg?

The moon one is actually a lot less folds than I thought when I first
heard this riddle.

Assume the phone book to be 2” thick:

1 fold (1f) = 2 x previous thickness.

1f = 4”
2f = 8”
3f = 16”
4f = 32”
5f = 64”
…
33f = 17179869180” = 271,147 miles

Distance from the earth to the moon = 238,906 miles.

It’s based on geometric growth, so you can produce a formula that would
give you the height of the resulting folds with the variables being the
thickness of the phone book and the number of folds.

t0 = original thickness of phone book
f = number of folds
h = height of phone book after folds

EQ:
h = t0*(2^f)

So for 33 folds:
h = (2)*(2^33) = 17179869180”
