If i understood you right: there will be an update for Maverick concerning

How good is the chance to get it within this year? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 23497] Re: i8042 unbind required for keyboard/mouse to be useable following suspend/resume hibernate/resume cycle

2008-10-30 Thread JoSch
This bug appeared for me in Ubuntu Hardy and in Debian Lenny.
The proposed bind/unbind fixes it in both so this should be reported upstream
asap.

[Bug 237793] [NEW] unable to insmod squashfs-lzma module

2008-06-05 Thread JoSch
Public bug reported:

hi!

i recently got squashfs-source and lzma-source for my ubuntu hardy and build
both with module-assistant.
after inserting unlzma and sqlzma modules i also tried to insert the squashfs
filesystem module but i got this error:

insmod: error inserting
'/lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/kernel/fs/squashfs/squashfs.ko': -1
Cannot allocate memory

i get the exact same error when i try to build the modules for ARM from
the same sources.

2008-04-20 Thread JoSch

one is intl gma965 and the other one an intel X3100

[Bug 129398] Re: compiz fusion freeze, windows key+e then alt-space

2008-04-20 Thread JoSch
I can confirm this too on two laptops with hardy beta and intel
graphics!

What can I do to solve this problem?

Can anyone of you guys also confirm additional freezes while using compiz
fusion? The effect produced by super+e and alt+space is the _exact same_ that
occurs on both of my laptops *sometimes*. (freeze but mouse is moveable and
only SysRq Keys are working)
If this can be confirmed maybe we can also solve these bugs because they are
related to each other:
 * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/156289
 * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/175744
 * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/176589
 * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/156289
these bugs are especially annoying because they are not reproduceable.
maybe thanks to this bugreport there is finally some method to force this
behaviour on purpose and by fixing it, fix them too.

[Bug 30395] Re: X-Server Crashes when switch back from terminal tty

2008-02-09 Thread JoSch
Same problem here (please reopen?)
I change to another VT and then back to tty7 and then xserver crashes and I
relogin.
I suspected this beeing a misconfiguration of my system but now also my
girlfriend observed the same problem.
the difference to the original bug: it only occurs /sometimes/ - very seldom
but it happens and it is still annoying to loose a whole desktop session.

we both use ubuntu gutsy, one laptop has a X3100 with intel driver the
other one is a gma945 also with intel driver.

[Bug 159430] Cannot start new applications

2007-11-01 Thread JoSch
Public bug reported:

This is the most strange bug I ever saw...
A friend of mine contacted me, that he cannot login to his gnome because the
gnome bar will not start up and all he gets is a blank screen - he has to do
init 1 and init 2 to circumvent this problem.
I got this problem too bug couldnt find a solution here but I think it's
connected to my main problem:

After waking up in the morning (my laptop is switched on at night - I never saw
this bug occur another time) then sometimes my wlan is diconnected and in the
past I didn't see another solution to reconnect but to restart my laptop.
But today I investigated further and found out, that I cannont start any
application except a special few like the calculator and inkscape!
If I try to start, say, gedit the harddisk will begin to work, the mouse
pointer will change but then nothing happens. I cannont start up a new terminal
but if I try to start gedit from a terminal I get nothing - not even an error
message. I even cannot quit the app with STRG+C!
Even in the console I can do some commands and others will simply hang
unresponsive.
I read that this kind of problem can occur when the loopback interface gets
disconnected by some error but I cannot restart it since ifconfig is one of the
apps that wont start.
I cannot even connect through ssh to this laptop because it looses all network.
I also cannot switch virtual consoles because the screen gets all black and I
have to use REISUB.
I'm eager to solve this bug so please tell me what command outputs you need to
have!
