[Bug 242504] Re: gtk-window-decorator does not show metacity theme correctly

Not sure if it would be the same issue or not, but the Nvidia upgrade
from 173 to 180 fixed a few gtk-window-decorator display problems for
me.

[Bug 342980] Re: windows stop redrawing after some time

2009-03-14 Thread Josh Lee
I have two somewhat reliable ways of triggering this behavior.

The first is to use CompizConfig and enable a random plugin, such as
Blur.

The second is to put the notification area on an unexpanded panel and
then disconnect so nm-applet will change its icon and thus its size.

Just remove the user switcher applet? That puts the menu items back, so
this is already up to the user. I think the point of the discussion is
about (a) making the menu keyboard-accessible or (b) restoring the old
default.

[Bug 301455] Re: [needs-packaging] please package gargoyle interactive fiction reader

2009-03-30 Thread Josh Lee
I'd like to help out with this packaging effort if possible;
specifically toward integration with the XDG desktop for ease of use.
When it's finished, a blorb file should have a thumbnail of the included
cover art, and double clicking it should open it in gargoyle. This would
require integrating the Babel  program,
either included or as another package; and writing a small wrapper
script that GNOME can call when it needs to make a thumbnail.

Here are some preliminary files to this effect (obviously the other
formats that gargoyle can open will need to be added):

## Mime info

cat ~/.local/share/mime/packages/gargoyle.xml

http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/shared-mime-info";>

  Blorb Interactive Fiction

  Z-machine game data

## Launcher

cat ~/.local/share/applications/gargoyle.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=Gargoyle
Comment=An interactive fiction player
Exec=gargoyle %f
Icon=accessories-dictionary
NoDisplay=true
MimeType=application/x-blorb;application/x-zmachine;

...and a really dumb script (to install in
gconf:/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/applicat...@x-blorb/command):

## Thumbnailer

#!/usr/bin/ruby
size,file,target = ARGV
output = `babel -cover #{file} -to /tmp`
case output
when /^Extracted/
  cover = "/tmp/" + output.split[1]
  `convert -resize #{size}x#{size} #{cover} #{target}`
  `rm -f #{cover}`
else
  exit! 1
end

[Bug 184996] Re: Annotation tools are broken in hardy

2008-12-25 Thread Josh Lee
I can confirm that disabling XInput makes it work perfectly. When I
leave XInput turned on, it fails in a variety of ways (memory usage, cpu
usage, or just not drawing anything).

[Bug 127566] Does not handle umount/swapoff very well.

2007-07-22 Thread Josh Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hardware-monitor

When swap is deactivated, or a monitored partition is unmounted and the
mountpoint removed, hardware-monitor begins using 100% cpu and does not
stop until killed.

Using version 1.4-0ubuntu2.

To reproduce:
1. Add a swap space monitor
2. Make sure some swap space is in use
3. swapoff -a

Or:
1. Add a hard drive usage monitor
2. Unmount the partition being watched
3. Remove the mount point

[Bug 201038] [NEW] FPU is buggy

2008-03-11 Thread Josh Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: spim

Spim's FPU simulation appears to be somehow broken. I found this while
attempting to use the `mtc1' instruction in one of my assignments. When
I issued "mtc1 $v0, $f12", nothing happened; the contents of $f12 were
unchanged. Repeating the instruction had the desired effect of modifying
$f12.

When stepping through in the debugger, however, nothing worked. The $f12
register did not change after either execution of the mtc1 instruction.
This was the case in both spim and xspim.

These findings can be summarized by running the testcast
"tt.fpu.bare.s", included in /usr/share/doc/spim/Tests. It outputs
"Failed" after "Testing CVT.D.W".

(As an aside, pcspim works perfectly. I was under the assumption that
xspim and pcspim would have the same codebase. Anyway.)

(I initially submitted this with reportbug, but I was under the
impression that a grave policy violation --- wasting the user's time
and sending their bug report to /dev/null --- would be given more than
"wishlist" priority.)

[Bug 199986] [NEW] Shouldn't override the font in the terminal widget

2008-03-08 Thread Josh Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

The upgrade window hardcodes a font of "monospace 10", instead of using
the system font. This is ugly because it is much larger than the other
fonts on my screen, and it looks different from all the other terminal
windows.

The offending code is in /usr/lib/python2.5/site-
packages/DistUpgrade/DistUpgradeViewGtk.py on line 423.

[Bug 224789] [NEW] Titlebars are off with gtk-window-decorator

When using gtk-window-decorator, the titlebar seems to not extend all
the way to the right of the window, as shown in the screenshot. In
addition to looking funny, this also means the window buttons are
hidden.
