[Bug 2068906] [NEW] do-release-upgrade does not shows the latest LTS version

2024-06-10 Thread Juan Pedro
Public bug reported:

Canonical released Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on 25th April 2024
https://ubuntu.com/blog/canonical-releases-ubuntu-24-04-noble-numbat

However, if I run the command "/usr/bin/do-release-upgrade -c" with
Ubuntu 22.04 LTs, the response says there is no new version.

I think the problem is because the command "do-release-upgrade" checks
the URL http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts-development, and
the information provided is about 22.04 version.

When using curl, I can see the response header "last-modified" with
value "Thu, 25 Apr 2024 17:11:11 GMT" the same date the new release was
available.

Maybe this information has not been updated with the information of the
new release?

I just filed a similar bug affecting Ubuntu 20.04 Focal:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1976233

There seems to be a problem with a recent update of the ddebs
repositories.

[Bug 1976233] [NEW] "File has unexpected size" error on Focal ddebs repository

2022-05-30 Thread Juan Navarro
Public bug reported:

Similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1975865
but affecting Ubuntu 20.04 "Focal"

Steps to reproduce:

1. Configure the debug repositories, like how it is explained in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debug%20Symbol%20Packages

I ran these commands on a newly created Docker container (docker run
--pull always --rm -ti ubuntu:20.04), but a typical bare metal
installation should present the same issue:

apt-get update ; apt-get install --yes gnupg

apt-key adv \
--keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com \
--recv-keys F2EDC64DC5AEE1F6B9C621F0C8CAB6595FDFF622

source /etc/lsb-release

tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs.list >/dev/null

[Bug 1970148] Re: Brave & Chrome browsers freezes on download and print to pdf

2022-05-04 Thread Juan de Dios Mattos
I tried the sudo apt install xdg-desktop-portal-gnome, but no luck.
Download does not work with Chrome or Firefox. Executing the command
indicates 0 upgrades, 0 newly installed and 0 not upgraded. I guess I
have the latest version running. I'm using the generic install of 22.04.
Ubuntu was working fine before the upgrade. Any other suggestion?

** Description changed:

- Whenever any file is downloaded, the browser will freeze.
+ Whenever any file is downloaded, the browser will freeze. Download
+ files, from any page does not work. Same issue with Firefox.

Similarly, the browser will freeze when a page is printed to pdf.

Close this issue please, turns out I can't replicate
this on another Toshiba S55-A5276 (borrowed another one
from the office), might have just been an issue with
that specific machine.

[Bug 1952489] [NEW] [Satellite S55-A, IDT 92HD99BXX, Speaker, ATAPI] fails after a while

2021-11-26 Thread Juan Rios
Public bug reported:

As soon as some playback goes through my integrated speakers
it doesn't take long for them to halt.

After poking around in PavuControl, I realized that when
I have my earbuds connected, the audio profile shows up
as integrated speakers.

As soon as I disconnect the earbuds,
the profile jumps back to "Headphones (plugged in)".

I cannot reproduce this issue on Debian Buster 10 (Arm64) with OpenSSL

[Bug 1951279] [NEW] OpenSSL 1.1.1f raise a segmentation faults on Arm64 builds

2021-11-17 Thread Juan
Public bug reported:

Description
---

It seems that current Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal) distribution for
Arm64/Aarch64 raise a segmentation fault when certain validates some
certificates.

This issue affects only to Arm64/Aarch64 all the tools statically or
dynamically linked with this version of the library are affected
(Libcurl4, Curl, Wget, OpenJDK, Curl-PHP, etc).

Environment and platform

Linux 5.4.0-89-generic #100-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 24 14:29:20 UTC 2021 aarch64
aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Steps to reproduce
--

1. Run:

curl -v https://graph.facebook.com/v12.0/act_111/

or

wget https://graph.facebook.com/v12.0/act_111/

Result received
---

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Notes
-

This bug was found by the Curl users:
See: https://github.com/curl/curl/issues/8024

I believe that this bug is related to
https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2020-1967 that maybe used as a vector
point for code injection.

Actually there isn't any replacement for OpenSSL 1.1.1f for Focal
(Arm64), so it makes difficult to use Ubuntu 20.04 in a production
environment.

2021-06-01 Thread Juan Manuel Carrillo Campos
Ok, this is going in a weird direction.
I had (in 2020) an equal issue with a device going from 18.04 to 20.04. I left
that behind doing a clean 20.04 install.
Now with another device I am not able to do a clean install (I am not able to
backup the stuff in this device) then I will like to fix the same kind of issue.
The result of the command attached is from "this device" trying to go from
Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.01 as the first step to finally came to 20.04.

Public bug reported:

 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and
try the upgrade again.

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to
investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will
contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and

[Bug 1913366] [NEW] Persiste problema con ubuntu 18.04 no reconoce monitor ni resolución óptima

2021-01-26 Thread Juan Ruiz Correa
Public bug reported:

Me vi

2021-01-25 Thread Juan Ruiz Correa

2021-01-22 Thread Juan Ruiz Correa
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1907870] Re: Intel UHD Graphics: external monitor detected but black screen (has a preferred mode but no current mode set)

2020-12-28 Thread Juan Manuel Diaz
Hi! I have updates on this: ¡IT WAS A CABLE PROBLEM!

Same cable and same monitor that works OK with my HP OMEN 15 doesn't
work with my HP 440 G7... I tried with a different cable (a shorter one)
and everything looks normal.

Please, mark this as closed.

Thanks everyone for the help,

Using Wayland didn't solve the problem, even worst... it makes the
desktop more unstable.

** Description changed:

Hi! I have an HP ProBook 440 G7 with i7-10510U and INTEL UHD GRAPHICS.

  The problem:

When i connect to my external monitor (a Samsung BX2250) via HDMI, the
screen is detected (i can see it in display settings) but the external
monitor remains black. Seams like a bad frequency or resolution. I tried
adding a new mode to xrandr with no luck. Also i tried different
versions of kernels from 5.4 to 5.9.

  I am using Ubuntu 20.10

[Bug 1907870] [NEW] Secondary screen detected but black screen with Intel UHD graphics on kernel 5.9

2020-12-11 Thread Juan Manuel Diaz
Public bug reported:

This is my lspci

[Bug 1586528] Re: Avahi-daemon withdraws address record

2020-10-14 Thread Juan Martinez
Same issue - Dell Precision 7040

Oct 14 20:20:17 ubuntu-Wyse-7040 avahi-daemon[1363]: Withdrawing address record
for 192.168.1.121 on enp0s31f6.
Oct 14 20:20:17 ubuntu-Wyse-7040 avahi-daemon[1363]: Leaving mDNS multicast
group on interface enp0s31f6.IPv4 with address 192.168.1.121.
Oct 14 20:20:17 ubuntu-Wyse-7040 avahi-daemon[1363]: Interface enp0s31f6.IPv4
no longer relevant for mDNS.

This happens both with DHCP and Static IP. Nothing of note appears to
precede these log messages. kern.log does not have any relevant logs.

Behavior is a dropped network every ~1.5 days. Did not have this
problem with wifi, only when hardwired. Runs with no displays attached.

Currently Ubuntu 19.10 - will be upgrading to 20.04 and will update if
issue does not resolve

[Bug 1899252] Re: quick alt-tab doenst work

2020-10-12 Thread Juan Carlos
Hello, Ive realized something, this behavior only occurs when I'm using
a second monitor, if I alt tab with only 1 monitor then alt tab works as
intended, but when using a second monitor then all the windows of the
app that are in the second monitor are displayed with Alt+tab. This
wasn't the case with Ubuntu 18.04.

Thanks.

2020-10-12 Thread Juan Carlos
** Description changed:

  Hello,

I'm getting the same behavior as the link below, in Ubuntu 18.04 you
could do a quick alt+tab to change to the first window of an
application, but now that I updated it to the latest version (20.04) I
- have the all windows of an app are displayed with Alt+tab.
+ have the all windows of an app that are displayed with Alt+tab.
